Nintendo to double production of the Nintendo Switch to 16 million units

The Nintendo Switch has sold 1.5 million consoles worldwide and will most likely hit 2 million which was their goal by the end of the month. Nintendo Co. has decided to at least double its planned production of the Switch console in the year ending March 2018 owing to strong demand.

In the fiscal year starting April 2017, assemblers under contract with Nintendo are now planning to manufacture 16 million or more Switches, up from an initial plan for eight million, said people briefed on the plans. Even after accounting for inventory, that suggests Nintendo believes it can sell significantly more than 10 million units during the 12-month period, they said, beating expectations of many analysts.

The Nintendo Switch is on pace to beating the Nintendo Wii and that was their best selling console. The recent console already beat the Wii when it came to the first two days at launch time and it’s only March and we haven’t hit the Holidays just yet.
