Xbox’s Scalebound Will Have “Broader Appeal”

Platinum Games who developed bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengance and now the Xbox One exclusive  Scalebound says its a “gift” for Microsoft. Xbox Marketing head Aaron Greenberg says in a new interview. When asked if Microsoft might be challenged to the market the game widely, considering it’s from a Japanese developer that people may not be familiar with, Greenberg said it’s actually an opportunity. “It’s another gift for us,” he told DuelShockers. “If you think about what game director Hideki Kamiya has created, and his history of just creating incredibly unique games, that are such high quality and that are loved by core gamers… To be able to have him making a new IP exclusive for us and a big title, I think it’s something we’re really excited about.” When Scalebound was announced at E3 2014 it was shrouded in mystery with only small footage of gameplay. Aaron described it as an action RPG, and with those types of games it will not only appeal to Platinum Games’ fans but with all those who like those types of games. We think of it as an action RPG game, and we think it will both appeal to fans of the games that Platinum has made, but at the same time, I think it will be a game that will have a broader appeal to folks that maybe haven’t played their games before,” he explained. “So we’re excited to be able to introduce that to a broader audience as well.” Scalebound will offer 4 player co-op, a lot of action RPG elements, and riding dragons (Best feature so far) Platinum wants to show “the power of what the Xbox One can do” I think Scalebound will be one of the most anticipated games in 2016 and will bring new elements and mechanics of what an action RPG is.   While 2015 has been a good year for PlayStation 4 owners when it comes to games , when it comes to first party games however even though games such as Until Dawn, BloodBorne, Uncharted Collection , have been great, Sony could have done better, Sony knows this as well. According to Michael Ephraim, who is the managing director at Sony Computer  Entertainment Australia, “We have worked very closely with third- parties this year because our first party lineup was not as strong as we would have liked” . “Next year, our first party lineup looks incredible, You’ve got Street Fighter V, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, No Man’s Sky, The Last Guardian, and Gran Truismo Sport, These are all exclusives, and two of them are new franchises”.  Some games that Michael Ephraim did not talk, about which are out next year only for the PlayStation 4 as well are, Horizon Zero Dawn  which looks like a amazing RPG, Ratchet & Clank, MLB The Show 16, plus 3rd party PS4 exclusives such as Persona 5 and more, If you have been holding off getting a PS4, 2016 looks like a great year to get one.  Source:PlayStation

Rocket League makes $50 Million

Indie success Rocket League has raked in more than $50m since it launched in July. The main key for this game to make that much was to release it for free on Playstation 4. It’s also available on PC and is coming to Xbox One in February. Rocket League also cost $2 million to make. Developer Pysonix has  said that its decision to release Rocket League for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers was the key to its success, and drove further sales among PS4 owners who weren’t Plus owners and for those who played and enjoyed the game, cosmetic DLC such as the Back to the Future DeLorean pack was available for a small extra fee.

White Xbox One Elite Controller teased

Microsoft recently released a new HoloLens video showing off some stuff it can do. At 2:50 in the video the guy shows off a White Xbox One Elite Controller which is the same color of the Lunar controller. Obviously Microsoft has yet to say any word on this controller but our guess is that it will be released sometime in 2016. It makes sense for them to make a white version since for the regular ones they have a big variety, the controller will most likely have the same specs. It just adds a variety to choose from. The Elite Controller is known for its features inspired for competitive gaming. Check out our review of the Elite Controller. Three new Conan the Barbarian games are on the way

Funcom has announced that they have entered into a new publishing agreement in order to developer three new games based on the Conan the Barbarian franchise. All three games will be announced this year with the first coming next month in January. Although specific platforms were not mentioned, we know that the games will come to both PC and consoles from the comments by Conan Properties Working with Funcom through the years has been a rewarding and very enjoyable journey,” said Fredrik Malmberg, CEO of Conan Properties. “Making them our preferred partner for all PC and console games based on ‘Conan the Barbarian’ is the next step on that great journey. Funcom has shown they are more than capable of managing the rich heritage of Conan and to breathe new life into the world of Hyboria, and we are thrilled to be working together on new, exciting projects” One thing that was not mentioned was the type of genre and overall setup that the game will utilize. Based on the game and its history, however, most likely it should stick to a third person action/adventure or RPG style similar to Shadow of Mordor or The Witcher 3. What do you guys think about this?
