New Final Fantasy XV character revealed, release date announcement confirmed
Those of you who weren’t able to keep your eyes open for the Active Time Report last night missed out on some new details for Final Fantasy XV as a new character was announced. The new character will not be playable as we know, but does represent a pretty formidable fight. She is Aranea Highwind and is Commander of the Third Army Corps 87th Airborne Division of Nilfheim. Most of her attacks take place in the air as she is an aerial focused character. The Active Time Report showed off a lot of her gameplay as well as magic that can be used. As far as other gameplay, nothing too crazy was show but what was there looks freaking awesome. The magic revealed a new setup for those familiar to the franchise. Although some games have had environmental effects such as grass catching on fire with flame spells, this will be the first time that we will see area of effect (AOE) spells in the game. Part of the report showed grass catching on fire from Noctis’ spell. Any enemies which entered the impacted area were also affected and was a new step for Final Fantasy. Now for the most important part….the release date. Square Enix announce that the release date will be released (pun intended) on March 30th. It will be during a special event called Final Fantasy Uncovered and begin at 10PM Est. in Los Angeles. Those of you who are in the area can attend the public event by RSVP’ing on its official site beginning this Friday, February 5th. If you can’t make it, the event will of course be broadcast on Twitch and Youtube as well. Still on track to release in 2016 on both Xbox One and PS4 . Watch complete ATR below.
