Review: Adam's Venture Origins

Game – Adam’s Venture Origins Release Date – April 1st Platform – Xbox One, PS4, PC Developer- SOEDESCO Publishing Genre- Action & Adventure Price- $49.99 Adventure games seem to be making a comeback as of recently. With great new entries in the Tomb Raider series recently and with Uncharted 4 releasing soon, you may be getting an itch to play some more. Adam’s Venture Origins may appear to fit into the same category of those games, but there are many glaring problems with this game. That’s not to say it’s a terrible game, but the cons far outweigh the pros. Adam Venture is an adventure/puzzle game set in the 1920’s, with a wide assortment of puzzles stumping you as you progress through the story. They progressively get harder as the game goes on, and some really require some thinking which was refreshing to see. The puzzles are definitely the highlight of the game. The gameplay itself is sort of…underwhelming. For an action game, there isn’t much action. Sure, you’ll swing around on some ropes and climb on some ledges, but that’s about it. The game is also very short, and will take you about 4-7 hours depending on how well you can cope with the puzzles. There are no collectibles or anything, so the replayability of this game is nearly nonexistent. A mix of clunky movements and bugs also detract from the experience, and I’ve encountered countless amounts of them. Audio cutting out, glitching out characters, and a game crash just to name a few. It really ruins the immersion and mixed with it’s slow gameplay, I found myself struggling to complete the game. Needless to say, the game delivers in the graphical department, with some impressive lighting and texture work. Throughout the game, you will visit a variety of different locations, the majority of them looking pretty impressive. However, the game tends to have frame drops often, and for a game that doesn’t have much action on the screen, it’s quite puzzling as to why. The game’s Achievements/Trophies are quite simple, all which can be achieved in a single playthrough if you know how to get the simple secret ones. Achievements hunters will definitely like this game, although for it’s price, I’d wait it out until you can find a deal. [rwp-review id=”0″] We were provided a review copy for Xbox One.

Microsoft Studios Unveils “The Coalition Army”

After taking over the Gears of War franchise, Microsoft wanted to make sure that it took care of and nurtured the creative fanbase of the gaming franchise.  Their move to do so came in the form of the announcement of The Coalition Army. In a news article on the Gears of War website, the company revealed the exclusive benefits of joining the club for Gears of War fans.  Named benefits include news directly sent to the member’s inbox, as well as an increased chance for the studio to feature an individual’s fan art.  Members will also enjoy special resources for the upcoming Gears of War 4 beta, including an introduction video for YouTubers, as well as official beta overlays for streamers. This kind of support for the creative side of a fanbase is a great move by Microsoft, and hopefully the start of a trend in modern gaming.  Check out the official announcement here.

Halo Championship Series Pro League launching May 31st, will also feature 250k prize pool.

After having a successful season with the Halo World Championships 343 had announced the Halo 5 Pro League at the finals. The Pro league will feature 14 of Halo’s biggest teams, eight in North America and six in Europe. It all begins May 31st and it will end July 28. The league will feature a $25ok per-season prize pool. The finals will occur in LA in July. At the 2017 World Championship, the prize pool will be $1 million with potential crowdfunding to increase the pot like the previous one. ESL will broadcast the tournament three days a week, 2 in North American and 1 in Europe. The qualifying begins this month at PAX East 2016 which is April 22nd-24th. Counter Logic Gaming (The Halo 5 world champions for 2016) have automatically been invited to the league. The PAX East tournament will include Evil Geniuses, OpTic Gaming, Enigma 6 and Team EnVyUs. 16 teams will be invited to an online qualifier on April 30, with the top eight moving on to a LAN qualifier on May 8. The top four of that tournament will earn spots. For teams that don’t qualify, 343 and Xbox will allow the players to play in an open bracket. Those teams will earn points from events ran by different tournament organizers and have a chance to relegate the bottom two in each pro league. Are you excited for this?

Among the Sleep Coming to PS4 and PC

Dutch publisher SOEDESCO announced on Tuesday that, alongside Norwegian developer Krillbite, it will be bringing its award-winning first-person horror game, Among the Sleep, to PS4 and PC this summer. SOEDESCO explains that Among the sleep is a horror game told from the viewpoint of a two-year-old toddler.  “The creaking of the stairs, the incessant scratching of branches on the window, in time they grow into monsters in the mind of a child… Through exploration and atmosphere players get to experience the fears and trepidations a two-year-old might experience. Fully immersive, with extensive detailing to give players a true sense of being helpless, scared and woefully unprepared.” Stay tuned for more information on this release.

Destiny April Update Drops Today – What You Need to Know

The long-awaited April Update for Destiny will drop today at around 10 AM Pacific.  The download sizes are 1718 MB for PS4, 1040 MB for PS3, 1736 MB for Xbox One, and 793 MB for Xbox 360.  Some major changes are coming with this update, and here are just a few of the big bullet points if you just want an overview of what will be coming with this update. There will be 2 new strikes on Xbox platforms, and 3 on Playstation, as well as new story missions and quests.  The new endgame mode will be a revamped Prison of Elders mode called Challenge of the Elders, in which guardians will battle Taken forces that Variks has imprisoned in the hopes that we can learn from how they fight. Perhaps the most exciting news of the update for guardians who have known the grind to 320 light is that infusion will now infuse at a 1:1 ratio, meaning no more stepping up weapons a little bit at a time.  An additional change to leveling comes in the form of smarter loot—legendary engrams will now decrypt at a light level above your guardian’s total light level. Another exciting change is the addition of Chroma, which is more or less underglow neon for your guardian’s armor, and comes in 4 colors—red, blue, yellow, and white.  In addition, a number of year one and year two exotic and legendary weapons and will be coming to year two, and no Bungie update would be complete without weapon and sandbox tweaks, the most notably a fix to the special ammo glitch and the reinstatement of special ammo upon beginning a 3v3 match. For more in depth discussions of the content in the update, check out our recaps of the reveal streams: Bungie “April Update Reveal” Stream Recap Bungie “New Things to Earn” Stream Recap Bungie “Sandbox and Crucible” Stream Recap Are you excited about this update?  Let us know what you can’t wait for most in the comments below!

Could we be getting a new Xbox?

Today Neogaf user ekim has found something interesting regarding the Xbox one revision and has predicted a new Xbox will be coming out by investigating into the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) fillings. He goes on to say how every device that has wireless technology that is being sold in the US has to be approved by the FCC and how Microsoft are testing another wireless chip for FCC approval. The console itself he explains is called the ‘Host’. He then provides proof of this saying that the wireless chip in the Xbox One was approved under a certain model number, and that if you look into the source he has provided, it gives ANOTHER device number, potentially hinting to a new device, which most people who have commentated (Including ekim himself) have speculated it to be another Xbox, (Or the Xbox Slim). The final part of the thread explains how we’ll see more surprises than we bargained for at E3 due to the NDA expiring on June 25th… For the full story from ekim, click on the link below: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1206958

Xbox One Name Your Game Bundle is coming to 5 countries this month!

A few moments ago, Major Nelson revealed that there would be an Xbox 1TB name your game bundle. It will be available for people in Canada, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. This is an upgrade to the 500GB name your game bundle, which came with an Xbox and a choice of either Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza 6 & Rare Replay. The games to choose are unknown yet, but more details will be coming soon. However, if it were the same games, getting Gears of War with it will be a good investment, with the beta coming earlier for the owners of the game.

Microsoft announced E3 conference date & time

Microsoft have revealed when their annual E3 conference will take place. It will start at 9:39AM Pacific time on Monday, June 13. These details were revealed to GameSpot by an email from Microsoft PR. The official statement announced: “We’re excited to return to E3 this year where we’ll showcase more games and experiences coming later in 2016 and beyond, starting with our briefing at 9:30 AM PDT on Monday, June 13.” Not much else is known about the upcoming press conference, but we do know that we’ll hear more about the Xbox One’s Anniversary update and its features. Last month, Xbox head Phil Spencer gave an update on the company’s E3 planning and said the “teams did a great job highlighting what they have coming.”
