Have Sony jumped the gun on the 4K gaming revolution?

On September 7, 2016, Sony unveiled the brand new PlayStation 4 Slim and the other console which I’ll be talking about right now, the PlayStation 4 Pro. It is (according to Sony) a 4K Ultra High Definition games console with better capability over the standard PS4 and PS4 Slim but still of the same generation. But have Sony jumped in a bit too early? Is the hardware really that capable of delivering on the promise of 4K gaming?   ( PS4 Pro riding the waves of 4K glory)

Nintendo to have a Nintendo direct for Animal Crossing on November 2nd

Since the Nintendo Switch was revealed fans have been curious when the upcoming directs are for certain games or for the console itself. It looks like the Animal Crossing Direct is scheduled for November 2nd according to a tweet and that could possibly give us an idea on if a Animal Crossing game will launch on the Switch. Here is the tweet: People are constantly wondering when that Animal Crossing Direct is coming. NCL announced (for Japan) it for November 2. pic.twitter.com/knq7Qj8BnX — Daan Koopman (@NintenDaan) October 24, 2016 As you see it could just be for the Nintendo 3DS only. We will see if that is the actual date in the near future and hope for an official announcement by Nintendo soon.

Nintendo Switch is based around a single screen experience Nintendo says

While there are many questions about the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has answered at least one of them. The Nintendo Switch is a single-screen experience. “Nintendo Switch is dedicated to deliver a single screen experience on whatever screen you might choose,” Nintendo told Polygon. With the Nintendo Switch it looks like the company wants to go into a different direction. Dual screens have been Nintendo’s bread and butter since the Nintendo DS launched 12 years ago, and the Wii U doubled down on that by making it a core feature of the system. This could be one of the reasons why it will be harder to port Wii U or Nintendo DS games to the Switch Nintendo is for sure going into a different direction that many fans may have to get used to, but this may appeal to the casuals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5uik5fgIaI

Titanfall 2 is not native 4K on PS4 Pro, has a more stable frame rate and resolution

Titanfall 2 will be compatible with the upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro, it turns out it won’t be supporting native 4K output natively. This may make sense as the PS4 Pro console isn’t powerful enough to output a game like Titanfall in native 4K resolution. It may not fully support native 4K, but Titanfall 2 will have a more stable frame rate on the pro since the console is faster. In a recent interview with Stevivor, Executive Producer Drew McCoy said: “It’s not native 4K and I would be surprised if anyone saw native 4K with AAA level games any time soon, It just takes so much processing power. It’s unbelievable amounts of just GPU grunt to do that [native 4K].” “It’s a PS4 that’s faster. We’re able to increase the resolution, we have high-res shadows, and maybe higher particle counts. The frame rate is more stable; we have dynamic resolution scaling on all consoles, but it scales down less often on PS4 Pro to maintain 60 frames-per-second.” Respawn most likely didn’t hear about the Pro Console until they were in the middle of development of Titanfall 2 so that could be a good reason why it doesn’t go all in on PS4 Pro. “We did not get much of a heads up, like most people,” said McCoy. “So we didn’t get a tonne of time. Like no one even knew about it until….I don’t even know, but it was late. Since it’s just the PS4, but faster, it’s really not that hard to say ‘when running on PS4 do this, and when running on PS4 Pro do that.’ “Because we also made the PC version, we have some knobs we can tweak, so we just spent some time making sure it still runs well and looks good on PS4 Pro. You know, making sure it doesn’t look any worse at all. That’s the requirement: it can’t run any worse or look worse than on PS4. So it runs better, looks better and has no bugs on PS4 Pro. Battlefield 1 outsold Battlefield 4 & Hardline combined week one in the UK

Battlefield 1 is off to a very strong start in the United Kingdom, it outsold the combined week one sales of Battlefield 4 and Hardline. According to the Chart-Track that only deals with physical deals only, Battlefield 1 week one sales came in just under those of Ubisoft’s The Division. That’s not including digital sales so the numbers could be even higher. We reported recently that Battlefield 1 is close to 1 million concurrent players and it’s even closer at 800K players across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Here’s the top 10 list: Battlefield 1 FIFA 17 Mafia 3 Gears of War 4 Batman: Return to Arkham WWE 2K17 Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Edition Forza Horizon 3 Grand Theft Auto 5 Minecraft: Xbox Edition Source
