V7 Entertainment introduces Old Time Hockey, brings back the retro hockey game
V7 Entertainment has announced they are bringing back the classic, retro style hockey game with Old Time Hockey. Old Time Hockey is inspired by classic arcade hockey games and sports titles. “Everything from NHL 94, Blades of Steel, to other sports titles like NBA Jam and Tecmo Bowl inspired us. We wanted to recreate that old familiar experience of playing these games on the couch with friends.” says Director Karthik Venkateshan. The game will feature 5-on-5 arcade style hockey gameplay where players will their opponents to submit through rough and tumble aggressive hitting and fighting Players will also get to experience a unique Story Mode in Old Time Hockey, something which has never been seen in a hockey video game. “We also developed a hilarious story mode to wrap all the hijinks together. It’s a daring concept to incorporate narrative into a sports game but we think players will get a kick out of it.” Set in the late 1970s amidst a poor economic climate and during the peak of the disco era in the United States, Old Time Hockey underscores the arduous story of a struggling team in the Bush Hockey League. With various control schemes to choose, players can use arcade 2-button controls to more modern controls. In addition to these familiar controls, a unique “Beer Mode” control scheme allows players to play with one hand and hold their drink in the other The game will release in 2017, check out the trailer below.

Sony says that rumors of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sony Pictures merger isn't true
Another rumor has surfaced around and this time it is on Sony. They have shot down the rumors that the company is on the verge of merging its movie division with its gaming business. The original story started on the New York Post where the Sony Pictures and Sony Interactive Entertainment subsidiaries would be merged into one entity under the leadership of current PlayStation chief Andrew House. Sony’s Andrew House spoke about this rumor: “This is nothing but baseless rumor and speculation. There are no plans for Andrew House to oversee Sony Pictures.” It’s a bit interesting that the New York Post would do a post on this as they are a big source of news and it looks like Sony made them look a bit stupid with what he said. Who knows what will happen with Sony in the future, it maybe in their best interest to keep it the way it is as it would most likely be a problem if they combined. That would mean more work for Andrew House and he has a ton of work to do on his part at PlayStation. Source

Dead Rising 4 outsold The Last Guardian in UK.
The Last Guardian, a PS4 exclusive in the making since 2006 has finally come out and was outsold by the popular zombie-frenzy killing Dead Rising 4. On top of that, the PlayStation 4 exclusive sold fewer copies than Dead Rising 4 through its physical Xbox One release. Chart-Track, the UK company that tracks numbers did not count digital numbers. Both PS4 game and Xbox One game were outsold by Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, FIFA 17, Battlefield 1 and Final Fantasy 15 coming 5th place Dead Rising 4 and 7th place The Last Guardian. Pokémon Sun, Skyrim Special Edition and Pokémon Moon filled out the rest of the top 10. You can read our Dead Rising 4 review here, and our The Last Guardian review is out this week!

Rumor: Crytek has not paid any of their workers in months
Crytek, who is known for making Xbox One exclusive, Ryse: Son of Rome has been having troubles as a company the past few months. A Crytek employee posted something on imgur saying “CRYTEK hasn’t paid me (or my coworkers) for almost 6 months. HELP!” This employee talks about some issues with management such as they never give anyone a heads up, and it isn’t clear to me if they are getting paid or even informed from the owners. Many of my co-workers moved from out of the country to work here and are unable to leave because they cannot afford to get back home due to their wages being withheld for so long. It also seems they are trapped at this place because with the employees try to speak out they get “Thank you for your continued efforts through this difficult time” and “You don’t understand because you don’t see the whole picture like we do— wages are coming soon.” If this is all true it seems like there is a major problem at Crytek when it comes to getting income in for the employees. “People are still working without pay. This isn’t just here in Germany, this is in all of our offices as far as I can tell.” You have to imagine if this continues this company will be shut down soon unless someone tries to buy them out whether it’s Sony, Microsoft or even Nintendo.
