World War I shooter Verdun enters certification by Microsoft, Xbox One release coming soon
If you’re a PC gamer, war shooters are numerous and vary wildly in realism and target audience. As a console player, most war shooters have to stand up to the big Battlefield launch of that year, and it often ends in varying degrees of success. One war shooter named for a famous World War I battle aims to offer a realistic experience that still lets players gear up alongside friends online. Verdun, a name PC gamers will recognize and PlayStation owners may have heard of, has yet to launch on Xbox One but that is set to change. For background, Verdun‘s development team Blackmill Games have already released on PC and PlayStation 4 and have only been held up on Xbox due to Microsoft’s certification process. The team, according to a public post on the game’s official Facebook page, are finally nearing release and offer a roadmap of the next week or so. According to the post, the team “have been very close to the release several times, therefore our estimate of 1-2 months was a realistic one. However we have had several (last minute) setbacks to overcome.” The post continues, discussing how from their submission to Microsoft on January 27, “in the upcoming 45 days Microsoft will be testing game on almost everything” and will decide certification from there. In the post, Blackmill Games make fans eagerly awaiting an Xbox release two promises, as well as offering good news for players on other platforms as well. The team writes that they “will take the first open slot Microsoft offers us” to release the game, and that Blackmill “will make sure to discount the game well for you.” Regarding dates however, the team will have nothing until after Microsoft has decided whether or not to grant certification for their console. Players on PlayStation 4 also have big things on the horizon to look forward to: stability and performance improvements as well as the addition of Scottish troops. Here is what we officially know about Destiny 2
Today has been a hectic day for the Destiny community. Earlier we reported on a rumor that said the sequel would be called “Forge of Hope” which was denied by Bungie. Well today during Activision’s earnings call we learned a lot of new things about their relationship with Bungie and obviously the companies plans to make the game better such as Story. First off Destiny 2’s development is going great and is on track for this Fall as expected. According to Kotaku, if Bungie misses this year for Destiny 2, Activision is awarded a hefty chunk of the independent studio’s stock, according to two sources familiar with goings-on at Bungie. Even though they let them delay Destiny for about a year there still is a ton of pressure to make this game right and to launch on time. Secondly, Destiny 2 will have a “great cinematic story, memorable cast of characters and be accessible to casual players” A key strategy to this sequel is to grab new players in especially since it’s coming to PC which was talked about months ago. A couple interesting notes, Destiny will be in “new international markets” and a “big reveal” is planned which could be prior to E3. Keep up to date on Destiny 2 news. Source
Call of Duty 2017 will 'take Call of Duty back to its roots'
During Activision Blizzard’s Q4 Earnings Call, Activision confirmed Call of Duty 2017 will take Call of Duty back to its roots. We haven’t heard what specifically will be in Call of Duty 2017 such as the setting, for example World War now I am not indicating that the setting will be WWII or WWI, but we’ve seen the success with Battlefield 1. This years Call of Duty will be developed by Sledgehammer this time and there were rumors from back in November that the next title will be called ‘Stronghold’. Activision usually reveals the new Call of Duty titles sometime between April-May, with the game’s launch in November. We’re honored & excited to bring this year’s @Callofduty to fans everywhere! It’s our biggest achievement as game makers. Much more to come. — Sledgehammer Games (@SHGames) February 9, 2017 Source

Nintendo wanted Nvidia GeForce on the Switch, was a top priority
Genyo Takeda, Nintendo’s ‘Technology Fellow’ who researches and helps create Nintendo hardware, talked about how getting NVIDIA‘s GeForce onto the Nintendo Switch was a top priority for the firm. In their recent investor Q&A, Takeda had the following to say on the matter: “If I can sum up my impression in one short phrase, I would use “high performance but low power consumption” to describe Nintendo Switch”, he said. “The PC has been a major gaming device, especially outside of Japan, and my top priority in the development of the Nintendo Switch hardware was to bring NVIDIAʼs GeForce, which has played a key role in realizing high-performance graphics for PC gaming, to our hardware with low power consumption. The term “crossover” is sometimes used to describe the unprecedented value that is realized when merging two different attractive things (such as, in this case, high performance and low power consumption, and playing both indoors and outdoors). I feel that Nintendo Switch is a new and unique crossover in its achievement of high performance, comparable to that of PC, both in front of your TV set and in your hands.” Nintendo Switch is prepared for launch March 3rd, 2017 along with anticipated game of the year Zelda: Breath of The Wild.
