Rumor: EA is working on a open world Star Wars game
According to a new job description at Electronic Arts, it seems like they are working on a new open world Star Wars game. Although the publisher has shared little information about what to expect from the rebooted version of Visceral’s game following the studio’s closure, we may now have a clue as to what form it will take. The job listing in question was recently published on EA’s jobs site. It’s for the position of lead online engineer in Burnaby, at EA’s Vancouver studio, and it makes no attempt to hide what applicants will be working on. The opening sentence reads, “Lead a team to deliver Online features for a Star Wars Open World project.” The rest of the listing doesn’t share much else, though there are references to the game being multi-platform (which is little surprise) and a requirement to have “experience implementing Online features such as Matchmaking, Asynchronous interactions, Live services, Server-host migration, etc.” EA has been contacted, but they have yet to comment on anything yet regarding this.

God of War has gone gold
PlayStation 4 exclusive, God of War has gone gold! Going gold is an important milestone for a game. In fact, it is one of the ‘big two’ really. You have getting ‘greenlit’, which kicks off the real development of your title, and ‘going gold’ as the two most important milestones in a games development cycle. The latter is the right of passage that lets the team, and more importantly the world, know that the game’s development is pretty much complete. All that remains is the manufacturing and shipping part of the process. Will you be getting God of War on PlayStation 4?
Rare is going to charge players gold every time they die in Sea Of Thieves
When looking at current games, players have seen a lot of in-game currency come and go for various purposes and reasons. In the latest Sea of Thieves update, players might now see their gold taken away due to Death Costs. In the most recent update for Sea of Thieves, the game developer Rare has announced that respawn costs are coming to the game. At the moment, dying and respawning in game takes nothing more than the player’s time When a player dies, they will have to take a trip on the Ferry of the Damned and nothing else happens. However, this is going to change soon, but Rare has not announced when this upcoming update will go live. If you check the “Coming Updates” portion of the release notes for Sea of Thieves, they will find the introduction of a Death Cost, which states that “the Captain of the Ferry of the Damned [will] deduct a small gold fee when [players] die.” Hopefully this update will come into play after Rare gets a handle on the gold reward and reputation system and get that up to speed. Rare has not stated how much this Death Cost will be, but they do say that “rates are dependent on the cause of death, so the more avoidable the death, the less patience the Captain will have.” One could assume that these rates are dependent on how much a player is worth, and players will pay a percentage per that worth upon respawn. Sea of Thieves is available now for PC and Xbox One. Source
