Full CGI Design For Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Possibly Revealed

With Detective Pikachu, fans thought it couldn’t be any worse with how unsettling the Pokémon look with their live-action interpretations being revealed last year. Not too long after, IGN revealed the first poster for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film which gave fans a similar feeling with the star’s realistic looking fur and appendages. Now more recently, images of what Sonic could look like in the film has surfaced via ResetEra and it doesn’t help change people’s original opinion of the forthcoming movie. User AlexFlame116 said to have discovered the images from Hamagami Carroll Associates; creating both the poster for this article’s header along with a guide which holds a handful of featured images that were created for the CGI Blue Blur. Reading the guide you can see that there are several different Sonics translated into CGI to represent each respected universe; “Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, Film Sonic, Animation Sonic,”. Which you could illustrate future plans Sega might have following the upcoming film or possibly more than we already know about the movie. Looking at the silhouetted poster, the rendered model looks to be proportionally correct when putting the two next to one another. As of yet, neither Sega nor did Director Jeff Fowler confirmed if these stills are indeed real or not. From reception on the internet, fans are having trouble understanding that the hands are fur and not his iconic gloves. Same with the fact of the Nike licensed sneakers are not similar to his signature shoes. Other nitpicked features circulate around the model’s eyes and how small they are. Source: ResetEra

Review: Kingdom Hearts 3

After a long, arduous, and suspense filled 13 years, Kingdom Hearts 3 and all the answers with it arrived in late January. For all the fans that grew up with the franchise, this game is the climactic ending they’ve all been waiting for. For people who are brand new to the series, as I am, this game seems like a cluttered story with gameplay elements that have high highs and low lows. However, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Kingdom Hearts 3 is one of the most fascinating games I have experienced. It is a mess of a video game, and that’s part of what makes it so special. Kingdom Hearts 3 takes place after the events of “Kingdom Hearts: 0.2 Birth By Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage” and “Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.” Sora was on the verge of being led into darkness by the all-powerful, Master Xehanort and has lost all his powers. Sora looks to recover them before the epic battle of light and darkness takes place. Meanwhile, Riku and Mickey Mouse are off to find one of their strongest allies, Aqua, to also prepare for the upcoming battle. This leads us into Sora, Donald, and Goofy going to Olympus to find Hercules and find out how to unlock his powers in “Kingdom Hearts 2.9.” As Sora, you engage in battle after battle through a war-torn Thebes. Hades has unleashed the Titans onto the world and its up to you to stop him. This is the prologue of the game and it begins with a bang, which is a welcome sight considering Kingdom Hearts 2’s prologue was a slog with a whole lot of confusion thrown into the mix. Olympus sets the tone for what you will be experiencing throughout. The game gives you a drip feed of new mechanics, ways to attack, and movement options to slowly ease you into what it wants to present. Wall-running, attacking, dodging, and use of the “Flowmotion” system from previous games are explained in-depth. The world of Olympus, much like the subsequent worlds, are beautifully detailed and expansive. The design of each world makes you want to see every nook and cranny because of how gorgeous everything looked. This was a welcome sight since the previous games made worlds feel like a school diorama rather than a sprawling, life-filled environment. The animation of each character and Square’s loyalty to Disney’s source material is spot-on, though it takes some liberties with its storytelling. The worlds you encounter will give you a very basic idea of what the Disney story is, which leads to some let-downs with the impact of the events. In the Pirates and Toy Story worlds, they immersed you with interesting wrinkles in the gameplay. This includes taking control of giant-mechs in Toy Story and being able to man a ship to explore the ocean in Pirates. Toy Story made you feel like a real toy, as the world takes place mostly in a mall where each floor feels like a brand-new area. The aesthetics of Pirates are unmatched and puts you squarely in the movie. Sora and the gang are able sail to new islands and explore the secrets within them. Diving through ocean reefs, exploring the jungles of each island, and even diving for treasure are all present in Pirates world. On the other hand, the Frozen world and Big Hero 6 world lacked polish and went on a little too long. Frozen involves having to climb the same mountain multiple times with only one, thematic sledding portion that was ho hum. Big Hero 6’s world was large yet felt empty and devoid of life. Some of the missions just took too long to complete due to the sheer size of the map. Each climactic, ending moment felt more like a relief than a satisfying end to the story. This was even a problem with the more satisfying worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3. Part of the problem of lack of impactful moments also stems from the game’s combat system. As in previous Kingdom Hearts games, battles will consist of hordes of Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed to slash and stab with Sora’s Keyblade. Sora also has control of elemental magic, summons of famous Disney characters, and the newly added “attractions.” When it comes to swinging your Keyblade to and fro, it feels precise and easy to control. Dodging and blocking are also present, but the litany of offensive weaponry makes these seldom used buttons (unless you do Proud mode). You will also have access to healing items and the ability to cook food to increase your stats temporarily. The food can be made from LeGrand Bistro with the help of “Little Chef.” With each world conquered, Sora will unlock several Keyblades that are themed from each world. Each Keyblade comes with nifty transformations that stack more damage and allow for various ways to defeat your enemies. As far as looks go, nothing looks cooler and flashier than pulling off a combo and moving from one enemy to the next. In a utilitarian sense, most of the options feel redundant or pointless. Most of the Keyblades have similar effects and transformations. Some Keyblades have interesting uses, but it doesn’t really add any deeper strategy options to your fights. Nearly all the enemies (including bosses) can be defeated by simply mashing the attack button while occasionally transforming for extra damage. Having more options and variance in any game isn’t a bad thing. It’s nice to be able to have access to any and all ways to defeat your foes. Rather, the effectiveness of changing up your combat is little to none. This makes most of the fights very uninteresting and takes away the gravity of significant battles knowing you can mash attack and win. Additionally, the attractions and summons suffer similar fates. Attractions are far too powerful, as most of them make you completely invincible for the duration of the move. The attractions are also clear out enemies

Apex Legends Might Be Getting New Legend, Octane Next Week

A couple weeks ago there were leaks about ten new characters coming to Apex Legends. According to a recent report, there has been a rough image of a new legend surfacing on Instagram and Reddit. The users being childz_pl4y & Beartoots and the image they shared was the same and it looks to be Octane. See the image below: There was another image found with Octane’s abilities shown and here they are: Launch Pad (Ultimate) Deployable jump pad that catapults users through the air. Swift Mend (Passive) While not taking damage, Octane restores health over time. Adrenaline Junkie (Tactical) Move 30% faster for 6 seconds. Costs 10% health. Immune to slows while active. Leaked image below: The first Apex Legends Battle Pass comes out March 12th and with Octane being confirmed to be joining the game, Daily Esports reports that he will launch with the pass. They’ve also found a clearer image of the new legend. It was recently revealed that Apex Legends hit over 50 million users worldwide across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC within the first month of release. That beats Fortnite’s record with them getting 45 million users in just 16 weeks. A new hoverbike vehicle was also found in the files for Apex. The C.A.R. SMG was also found in the files which could very well happen as for other weapons from the first two Titanfall titles. Source

Frank O’Connor: Halo Infinite Will Launch For Xbox One

Halo Infinite, starting off the Xbox E3 conference has had fans wanting more and of course that leads to more questions. With rumors swirling about the next generation Xbox console being announced as soon as this coming E3 known as code name “Anaconda”, the number one question for the next Halo title is will it be the title to launch alongside the next console? 343 Industries Frank O’Connor was mentioned on twitter because due to some leaks it just seemed like Infinite would only launch on Anaconda and not the current generation Xbox console. If it was only going to launch on the next generation console it would more than likely be a 2020 or 2021 launch. Frank denied that and has stated that the game will launch on Xbox One and appropriately spec’d PC’s. I have no idea what leak you're talking about, but Halo Infinite will be released for Xbox One and appropriately spec'd PCs. — Frank (@franklez) March 5, 2019 Halo Infinite could still be released at the same time as Anaconda, but would be available on the Xbox One as well so they won’t have to leave out the previous generation. This coming E3 we will more than likely see more about the next Halo title and we could possibly get an idea when the game will release as many of us are expecting a long wait to continue Master Chief’s journey. Unlike Halo 5, Infinite will include 4-player split-screen which was confirmed by Bonnie Ross. In other Halo related news, the long awaited Television show has gotten a new director and the plan is to start filming later this year. Next week at SXSW there will be an exciting Halo: The Master Chief Collection announcement and many fans have a feeling its a PC version of the game being revealed. Stay tuned for more Halo news and content.

New Tracks Dropping For Beat Saber Next Week

Last year, many gamers who contemplated getting a virtual reality headset had Beat Saber in mind for what to play once they got their hands on the device. Regardless of the platform, the game was taken by storm as popularity surrounded the Guitar Hero x Star Wars hybrid title and reached to be one of the most recognized VR titles for 2018. Now it was revealed earlier this week that new tracks are inbound for the rhythmic techno title according to the game’s official Twitter account. 🚨 WE HAVE THE DATE! 🚨 Our first Music Pack lands in Beat Saber on March 14th! See a little sneak peek to our updated UI so you can easily browse OSTs and upcoming Music Packs. pic.twitter.com/GiTLvAdBKG — Beat Saber (@BeatSaber) March 4, 2019 For what songs will be the newest addition to Beat Saber was not discussed as of yet. Beat Games will either release a statement on what will be added or we will have to be patient for the new tracks next Thursday. Previously I discussed that Beat Saber among other titles like Astro Bot: Mission Rescue and Firewall: Zero Hour truly showcased the full potential of virtual reality as a platform rather than just a simulator console. You can read the full piece here. Beat Saber is available now for PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift.

Forza Street Possibly Turn 10’s New Mobile Title

Recently, Forza developer Turn 10 when discussing the weekly buzz surrounding the Forza community has accidentally and potentially leaked an upcoming title for the game franchise. When covering recent winner Evan “Racebot777” Thorogood of the Forza 7 World Championship in Canada, the article hyperlinked to what was ‘Forza Street’ rather than the recent event. Deprived from the description of the game before the link was later fixed, it read as: Developed in partnership with UK-based studio, Electric Square, Forza Street is built from the ground up to support a wide range of Windows 10, iOS, and Android devices Despite the sudden news drop, Turn 10 nor Electric Square have commented on if the title is in development or not. From the assumption of fan reception towards high budget games securing a mobile adaptation, this won’t turn out well if the title actually gets an official reveal. Kojima: Death Stranding is slightly behind schedule

In a recent interview with J-Wave.co.jp, Hideo Kojima was talking about the progress with the development of Death Stranding and in the process of constantly adjusting and play testing Death Stranding due to its open world nature, the team will need extra time for the game to make sure it can be quality. “Many studios lag behind the planned release date, Death Stranding has been slightly out of the initial plan, but not much delayed,” – Kojima on the progress. Death Stranding had started full development in 2017 and since then it was known it will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive after being featured at Sony’s conferences and at the most recent E3 conference. We aren’t sure when we could expect the game to release, but it probably won’t be for a while knowing Kojima and there’s a high chance it’ll be on the next PlayStation console at this rate.  In other PlayStation news, we might have found out the release time for The Last Of Us Part II.  Source: ResetEra
