Release Date For The Dark Pictures: Man Of Medan Revealed

It was pretty surprising news to discover that Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games will be breaking off from Sony Interactive Entertainment to pursue multi-platform titles back in 2016. Seeing that the British studio will be looking to other projects beyond their 2015 thriller, fans hoped the developer would stick to the genre with their next game in development. Tracking later into August 2018 at Gamescom, Supermassive revealed their upcoming line of titles The Dark Pictures Anthology: a series of thrilling stories told in the same format as their previous game with choice-based decisions and dialogue options to affect your outcome of the game. The first story ‘Man of Medan’ follows a group of friends who travel to the ocean in search for sunken treasure on a lost ship. In the most recent trailer for the game, the video runs through some of the choices that players will have the option to pick from as they play Man of Medan. Similar to how Until Dawn functioned, players will have control of the entire cast of characters and will experience the events of the game from different viewpoints which plays into how the game will result. As deprived of the name for more games to form an “anthology” following this title, future installments will include new characters, settings, and of course different outcomes. Supermassive have yet to discuss what will come following the first piece of the collection. The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan will be available on August 30, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Sony’s Biggest Gaming Franchises Hits The Big Screen With PlayStation Productions

As we have witnessed time and time again of video game adapted television or movies, they tend to result with a more disappointing outcome compared to what we initially experienced from playing the respected title. For Sony however, the company plans to take the matter into their own hands by opening their own production company focusing primarily on the franchises that define PlayStation. Sony Interactive Entertainment Vice President of Marketing Asad Qizilbash alongside him SIE Chairman of Worldwide Studios Shawn Layden revealed the new division as PlayStation Pictures. According to Hollywood Reporter, the plan for Sony to pursue film/TV adaptations will bring in less traction since they company will not be looking towards third-party production companies towards creating their projects. “Instead of licensing our IP out to studios,”Qizilbash states, “we felt the better approach was for us to develop and produce for ourselves. One, because we’re more familiar, but also because we know what the PlayStation community loves.” Layden adds on by sharing that one of the major problems current game-based adaptations fail to do is completely understand the title/series that is being translating into film. Explaining that now is the best to pursue video games in other forms of entertainment media either it through streaming, televisions, or film. Referencing heavily on Marvel’s take on comic books to big budget films and using their scheme of the industry as ‘inspiration’ for video games. “The real challenge is, how do you take 80 hours of gameplay and make it into a movie? The answer is, you don’t. What you do is you take that ethos you write from there specifically for the film audience. You don’t try to retell the game in a movie.” It has been confirmed that several projects are currently in the works already under PlayStation Pictures. Twisted Metal TV Series Confirmed By Sony Pictures Entertainment

News breaking from earlier this Monday revealed that Sony has opened a new division centered around creating other forms of media like film and television primarily using the bundle of IPs exclusive to the PlayStation brand with PlayStation Pictures. Shortly after the announcement of the new branch in the Sony family during the company’s investor relations meeting, PlayStation Pictures has already confirmed that the first show is already in development. Detailed by Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra to be focused on the vehicular mayhem series Twisted Metal. We have a TV show we just agreed to get underway that will be developed from the IP on PlayStation, it’s called Twisted Metal. The CEO further shared that the franchise is “a game that was put out many years ago and we’re going to develop a TV series around that.” Especially as the series last received a true installment tracks back to 2012, it’s about time Sony takes Twister Metal off the shelf for a new entry, regardless of it not being a game. Vinciquerra goes into further detail to reassure those interested in the upcoming Uncharted film adaptation that it has yet to fall off the rails despite the silence surrounding the project. Previously, it was revealed that 10 Cloverfield Lane Director Dan Trachtenberg will take the helm for the Nathan Drake movie back in January. Despite the current noise surrounding the anticipating projects for both IPs, it’s likely we won’t hear much about the two for quite some time as both are still on their way of getting off the ground. OUYA Store Officially Closes Next Month

Looking back to the dawn of the current generation of consoles where Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4 butted heads leading up to Fall 2013, you might have glanced over another debuting platform that also released the same year. Started from a Kickstarter campaign in 2012 introduced the OUYA to the world the following year in 2013. Pitched to bring affordable gaming to the market compared to other competing platforms by selling the hardware at just $99, the Android-centered console was seen to change the industry following it’s crowd funding success when reaching roughly $1 Million in donations. But as cheap as the price was, so was the console with inexpensive plastic to make the controllers and limited capabilities ultimately stopped the OUYA in its footprints. Now fast forwarding to 2019 this week, gaming manufacturing company Razer who currently owns the OUYA has revealed that the store will be open until June 15th of this year. Leaving users who still play on their OUYA less than a month to access the store before cutting the cord. This doesn’t mean you will be unable to use the console following mid-June: you just won’t have the ability to download applications and games from the respected storefront. How do you feel about the OUYA finally kicking the bucket? Source: Razer
