Sony Verifies PlayStation’s Ownership of the Sunset Overdrive IP

Roughly a month ago now, fans were swiftly brought to reality when Sony subsidiary Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the acquisition of Marvel’s Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games. While the company previously denounced the chances of a large studio purchase prior to the recent acquiring of the California-based team, the PlayStation publisher really came out of the blue with the announcement even more. While many players did expect to see this happen at some point in the coming future when reflecting on the developer’s catalogue of PlayStation exclusive titles, it was a more worrying story for fans on Microsoft’s platform. That is primarily due to the fact Insomniac Games would no longer have a foreseeable future when it comes to the development of a Sunset Overdrive sequel since the follow-up would be unique to the Xbox library. However, at the time of reporting the developer’s acquisition, word was that ownership of the IP was split between Microsoft and Insomniac, leaving the property untouched from PlayStation to potentially make another installment if deciding to do so. Now, according to a recent interview with President of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida, he clarifies that PlayStation has possession of all IPs under Insomniac Games, that including Sunset Overdrive. Speaking with Japanese publication Inside Games, Yoshida shares that Sony Interactive Entertainment is in current ownership of Insomniac Games library in its entirety. “SIE holds the rights to past work from Insomniac Games,” Yoshida explains. When asked of potential ports for the studio’s previous work, he states “I am looking forward to future titles.” Although it is now officially declared that Sunset Overdrive is in the hands of Sony & PlayStation, the use of the IP does not seem to be a primary focus derived from Yoshida’s response. Even brushing upon a potential PlayStation 4 port did not look to be a concern with the property’s new owner. Did you play Sunset Overdrive back during its launch? Hideo Kojima Shares Interest In Expanding Death Stranding’s Plot With A Sequel In Mind

Hideo Kojima’s first self-developed project Death Stranding is just on the brink of launch aimed for this November, and the former-Konami developer has already shared his interest in breaking the approaching title into a series following the upcoming retail release of the game. According to an interview with video game outlet GameSpot, Kojima explains to have interest in making the forthcoming cinematic adventure into multiple installments. Though he remarks resentment of projects that break into ongoing titles that devalue the genre the respected game would represent, he does believe at least a sequel would be enough for fans to appreciate a return to the game’s world. “The most difficult part is, when you create something new, you have to create a sequel and then a third version or it [will] not remain as a genre,” Kojima tells GameSpot in response to making more games for Death Stranding. “When this game comes out there will be a lot of pros and cons, and [these elements could become the essence of the core part], but I think it’s better that I keep it going in a sequel.” While at least a sequel does look to be held in the future for Death Stranding, Kojima also talks of a potential revised title or “remix” that touches up on the rougher edges we might experience when the game drops. “At least 1.5, and then 2, maybe, at least so that it remains and people are aware of the genre.” However, expecting when Kojima will develop the discussed sequel is not entirely on the horizon as shared in a later statement where he confirms to have multiple unnamed projects he wishes to keep his hands in. Kojima clarifying that the follow-up is not truly “definite,” and that juggling priorities is not easy for one person to perform. Previously, Kojima emphasizing on the game’s film-like presentation has announced that appreciators of cinema can indulge on the experience with the very easy difficulty that is crafted specifically for avid movie viewers foreign to a console gamepad. Borderlands 3 Glitch Has Players Farming for Legendary Gear

Not every game that is released will be running perfectly. Borderlands 3 already has its share of issues since it’s launch this past week. Patches have been applied to combat the save losses & split screen issues but this new flaw is already being taken advantage of. On the Borderlands 3 subreddit, there is a post from u/ChuunibyouImouto detailing late game farming for legendary weapons and some very powerful weapons. This exploit involves the new Mayhem mode, which turns the game difficulty up but better enemies drop better rewards. So by playing and farming in Mayhem 3, this user and his friends were able to see the full platter of legendary weapons. “By this point, me and my friends have reached the stage of recognizing most legendaries by name and immediately knowing which are auto vendor garbage and which are not” Expect Gearbox to release a patch in the near future since they already have a list of problems they must fix to add stability and balance to the game.
Mega Man Senior Producer Solidifies Development For Next Series’ Installment

Capcom looking ahead into the future for the sake of the Mega Man franchise is already looking bright, and nostalgic. The publisher just last month announced that the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection will be arriving at the start of the new decade with a bundle of games sharing the Zero name. While fans will be able to revisit the selection of games on modern hardware for the time being, it should be noted that the company is already discussing the presence of a new installment already. According to a recent interview with Japanese gaming website 4Gamer, Senior Producer for the Mega Man series confirms that there is yet another game expected to release. When questioned about the next title to shine for the franchise, Senior Producer Kazuhiro Tsuchyia clarifies that the game has already been decided. However, all titles under the billboard name is emphasized to be a mainline title, he shares. “There are a lot of titles I personally want to work on, but to tell the truth the next game to be developed has already been decided on, I’d just like to keep the specific details hidden for the moment. Please wait until we make an announcement,” Tsuchyia explains in the interview. “Still, I think that the there’s no such thing as a spin-off in the Mega Man series, every saga is a main series on its own. When speaking of “Mega Man”, there will always be people who think of “X”, as well as people who think of “EXE”, and I think that’s why each one’s concept of what Mega Man is changes depending on the generation. For that reason, we don’t want to deny any series of its future.” Especially looking at the success following the release of Mega Man 11 roughly a year ago now, it is now surprise that Capcom is prepping for yet another title. And now categorizing either the traditional lineup of titles, Zero, or X, we see that the publisher takes each installment of either breed into consideration as mainline installment following this interview. In further support of Capcom’s anticipation for more titles regarding the Mega Man franchise, Tsuchyia shares earlier to his statement that the developer is “planning on extending the Mega Man brand at least over 10 or 20 more years by giving it constant stimulation, that way we’ll be able to experience new titles alongside new player.” Are you ready for more Mega Man games in the coming future? Dave Bautista Is Now Playable In Gears 5

While Gears 5 is out in the open now, fans of the franchise are still patiently waiting for the next piece of information revolving around the upcoming Universal Studios’ film based on the Xbox Game Studios’ series. Although we do have some notion of what the basis will be about since it is a Gears of War movie, casting and plot has still been of the latter of information that has yet to be shared. And that only saddened it even more for fans when actor and former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista shared his doubts to being casted as Marcus Fenix for the film’s leading role. However, that did not stop The Coalition from incorporating Bautista into the franchise one way or another. At the beginning of the month, it was announced that Bautista will be added to the game as his own playable character in the game’s multiplayer. Now, players can simply boot up Gears 5 and will unlock the newest addition to the game’s roster. Bautista will be available for all players between September 15 to October 28. Gears 5 Takes Helm As Microsoft’s Most Successful For This Current Generation

Just one day shy of a week since The Coalition’s Gears 5 officially released and the latest installment in the series has already hit a milestone for both the developer as well as the entire Xbox platform also. Today, it was announced that Gears 5 broke a monumental record of overtaking three million players opening weekend alone. What this means for Microsoft primarily is that the title not only reaches a new high for an Xbox Game Studio’s title, but also a record high for Xbox Game Pass too. This new feat exceeds more than double of what Gears 4 did at release back in nearly three years ago, but also being the first game to overtake Halo 4’s title as the biggest launch for a first-party game back in 2012, meaning the biggest in the history of Xbox One as well. The four-day pre-launch of Gears 5 also applies to this new milestone atop of the following seven days following September 10. Which does explain a lot for the new record of active subscribers on Xbox Game Pass: while Ultimate Edition owners were given early access to the game, those who paid the $2 for Game Pass Ultimate were also granted the same cut to the front of the line. Interesting enough, it was also reported last week that Epic Games’ Fortnite was finally overtaken by Gears 5 as the most played on the platform which held the #1 spot for roughly a year.
