Darksiders: Genesis Hits PC & Stadia This December, Console Launch Following In February

Leading up to this year’s E3-hosted event in Los Angeles, word slipped on some of THQ Nordic’s lineup as the publisher scheduled to announce an assortment of new games at the annual gaming event. This being a new title for the Darksiders series: but instead of a direct installment from Gunfire Games, the game would instead be a project by Airship Syndicate. This later was properly announced to be Darksiders: Genesis. A top-down, co-op experience which would pair both the second Horsemen War and last Horsemen Strife: the title would break the standard action-adventure genre the games are generally associated with to bring a new experience for fans of the series and to those who already fancy the pedigree of titles. Following the reveal, any sort of release date was left unanswered for players who are eager to take on this new journey. That was until this week as Airship Syndicate released a new trailer for the game. Yet another cinematic viewing similar to the one shown back in June, this instead revealed new release dates for the game. Yes, you read that in plural. Going more into the matter, it was announced that the game will be releasing in two phases: PC and then console. Those wielding keyboard & mouse will receive the game via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Stadia in December while their console counterparts must wait until February. Reasons as for why the developer decided to take this route to launch Genesis is not mentioned, but guesses are that development divided between Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo’s systems would require more time to properly optimize for the each respected platform. PC on the other hand suits the game as taking transparent influence from Diablo, the game only has to juggle between storefronts. Do you plan on getting Darksiders: Genesis this December or later next year? Darksiders: Genesis will be available for PC/Stadia on December 5, 2019 then later for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on February 14, 2020.

Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour Listing For Switch Surfaces On ESRB

Discussion surrounding the Duke Nukem series for the past few years has been radio silence following the under whelming release of the decade-long wait for Duke Nukem Forever back in 2011. That was until this year that Gearbox revealed that the character would be returning through the Bulletstorm port for Nintendo Switch. However, more on the series has surfaced as a new listing for Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour appeared on the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) this week. Here is a synopsis from the description provided by the rating board: This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of Duke Nukem on a mission to save Earth from an alien invasion. Players use pistols, machine guns, rocket launchers, and shrink rays to kill aliens and mutant enemies in frenetic combat. Firefights are accompanied by realistic gunfire, large explosions, and blood-splatter effects. Enemies occasionally break apart into bloody fragments as they are killed. The 20th Anniversary World Tour is a re-release of the original 1996 title for current hardware (Xbox One, PlayStation 4) in celebration of the game reaching two decades since initially releasing. The project was developed by the original team and debuted fresh additions like new music from composer Lee Jackson, new phrases For Duke recorded by original voice actor John St. John, and a new fifth episode to the game’s campaign. On when the game is expected to release for the Nintendo eShop, that is left to be unknown until properly announce by the developer or publisher at a later date. What did you originally play Duke Nukem 3D on? Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour is out now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Source: ESRB

Session’s Release For Xbox Game Preview Pushed To Late Fall

The long-awaited Session officially hit Steam’s Early Access just last month following the announcement from developer Crea-ture Studios. The team upon the announcement for the game’s premature release for PC shared that game is also expected to hit Xbox Game Preview for console in the following month to clean up the rough edges for those playing with controllers. But according to a recent update by the team, those waiting on Xbox One will have to be patient just a little bit longer. Breaking the news on Facebook, Crea-ture Studios posted a statement regarding the game’s scheduled release for this month by revealing that the date had to be pushed to late November or possibly early December. “Unfortunately, at this point, we need still need more time to port Session to Xbox One. That being said, we must postpone the Xbox One version release date to late November/early December,” Crea-ture discloses on the team’s Facebook page. “We know this sucks and we totally understand as we know you have been waiting to play the game on console for a while now. We know it’s not great news to hear, but it’s not particularly fun to announce either, especially for a small studio like ours.” Understanding, it is unfortunate that the game would be delayed just quite a bit longer, but for the sake of giving a well-deserved first impression is convincing enough to wait until the team if finally ready to release the game for Xbox. Seeing that the team is unsure when exactly this is aside from the general timeframe, this does illustrate the hardening decision Crea-ture made to put your experience before meeting a deadline. Do you plan on picking up Session when it’s finally ready for Xbox or are you already playing the game on Steam? Let us know in the comments below! Microsoft Confirms Xbox One Controller Support For Project Scarlett

Moving to the next generation of console hardware, for the most part, means that any similarities with the current and former units are tend to be innovated for what’s up next. However, Microsoft looks to make things easier for the consumer as just a shred of light has fallen on the upcoming Project Scarlett. Speaking of specifically, these new consoles are expected to introduce new games, stronger hardware, and a overall new experience to those that purchase their platform of choice. Although that is what we expect in tradition, Microsoft has shown to break what we depict from the console release pattern by revealing that today’s aged Xbox One controller will be compatible with the approaching new Xbox. While not directly from the mouth of Microsoft, his was instead shared through a tweet by Product/Marketing Manager James Shields who verifies that all current controllers can be used on Project Scarlett next year. Yep – all Xbox One controllers! — James Shields (@shieldsjames) October 17, 2019 Interesting enough about this statement, it does trigger the idea of where Microsoft is looking to strive towards for the next console. Knowing that a growing amount of players favored the controller for the previous Xbox 360, and even more to this generation’s gamepad, what else could Microsoft do to better the company’s audience preference? That however is left for time to tell until the company is ready to reveal more about the new console. Next generation’s Project Scarlett already reported to carry three generations of backwards compatibility, 120 frames per second, ray tracing support, and 8K resolution output, why would the team stop at the controller? Let us know what your hopes are for the next controller for the next Xbox console in the comments below! Project Scarlett is said to release next holiday season in late 2020.
