Coming from the bevy of announcement that developer Riot Games made back in October, the team revealed that there will be a bevy of first-party projects that are already underway: one being the dungeon crawler set in the League of Legends universe, codenamed Project F. However, Riot Games also made some more recent announcements during this year’s annual Game Awards show regarding another title. This time though, newly founded publisher Riot Forge announced in partnership with Airship Syndicate that a new title is on the way, Ruined King: A League Of Legends Story. The Game Awards 2019: WolfEye Studios Reveals First Project Weird West

This year’s Game Awards shows to be a handful of firsts for the gaming industry with developers like PlayerUnknown Productions showcasing the team’s ‘first’ non-battle royale title for the series with Prologue. And now here is yet another one from WolfEye Studios, introducing Weird West. Set in the titular Wild West of the western hemisphere, players must explore the world ahead of them and uncover the mysteries of the heroes you will meet throughout your journey. Pitted as a top-down RPG, players will progress their character with a handful of new abilities and fill their inventory with interesting loot along the way. Here is a brief synopsis provided from the game’s Steam page: “Discover a dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures. Journey through the origin stories of a group of atypical heroes, written into legend by the decisions you make in an unforgiving land. Each journey is unique and tailored to the actions taken – a series of high stakes stories where everything counts and the world reacts to the choices you make. Form a posse or venture forth alone into an otherworldly confines of the Weird West and make each legend your own.” While the former developers of Arkane Studios strive away from the AAA development with this new project, Weird West still embodies some familiar gameplay elements within its DNA. Such as player decisions which will ultimately dictate the outcome the game each segment you choose as you continue on. Although not going into specifics primarily, it is a fair guess three will be more branching conclusions available than what was in Dishonored or Prey (2016). Players will also have the opportunity to form a posse of their own in this obtuse setting of American history. As for how it will play out, this will still be strictly single-player as the game’s Steam page shares. However, more companions and their backgrounds look to be another possibility that plays into part for how you reach the end of the game as well. Interesting enough, atop of WolfEye Studios announcing their attendance at the game Awards, so did Devlover Digital. But it ended up being that the two would be announcing the same game simultaneously. Weird West is listed for PC with no set launch date as of yet.

The Game Awards 2019: Gearbox & Counterplay’s Godfall Coming To PC And PlayStation 5 Holiday 2020

This year’s Game Awards looks to be taking place in a special time for this current gaming market as we are on the brink of the upcoming transition to the next generation of platform systems. It was made clear that Microsoft would take advantage of the opportunity to flaunt some of the hardware capabilities with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II at the start of the show, but what about Sony? The company also did their part as Sony Interactive Entertainment announced Godfall, an upcoming project from Counterplay games and surprisingly, Gearbox Software. You can watch the full announcement trailer below: From what is shared about the game, there will be split DNA between the two studios for this coming project: the looter aspect of Gearbox Software with the team’s Borderlands notoriety and strategic gameplay that Counertplay Games can be associated with Deulyst. The two combined looks to bring a good amount of potential for what might be an exciting launch title for the upcoming PlayStation. Couterplay CEO Keith Lee on the subject of Godfall shares that the title would be a hybrid genre which adds to the game’s uniqueness. “Our goal with Godfall is to reforge fantasy ARPG-style loot progression and third-person melee combat into a whole new genre: The Looter-Slasher. Namely, our game is uniquely one-part gear driven and one-part player-skill driven,” Lee going into details about the project. “Godfall retains the desire for offense-oriented, mastery-driven combat, rewarding you with head-turning, powerful loot that then inspires your next set of character builds.” Regarding the gameplay aspect of Godfall, Lee then goes on to suggest that this title will stray from others with replayability being a main focus for players to find ore initiative while they progress through the game. Ranging from broadened enemy encounters to boss fights will turn the burners on high, essentially. Cooperative play will also have its hand in the mix with a trio available to take on what’s within this new experience. More so, Lee clarifies the team’s efforts to make co-op more fun and the better option than running solo. What are you most excited for about Godfall from the trailer? Godfall will be coming out next Holiday season in 2020 for PlayStation 5 and PC via the Epic Games Store. Source: PlayStation Blog

The Game Awards 2019: Netherrealm Studios Gives First Look Of Mortal Kombat 11’s Joker

The hype for Mortal Kombat 11 while still prevalent and well-tamed today, it has been pretty quiet in contrast to the time prior to the full reveal for the game’s current Kombat Pass. Already knowing the arrival of Sheng Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, and Spawn, what really had fans on the edge of their seats were the remaining two. Of course, rumors & leaks were always around the corner atop of studio head Ed Boon also fueling the fire, so there was plenty of noise to be heard. But that was until this past August that Netherrealm Studios officially revealed that Terminator and Joker will be arriving to the game. The character based on the likeness of actor and former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger already happened to slip through the leaking cracks, so fans were suspecting his debut more so than Joker. For the Prince of Crime, many were astonished by the reveal since a handful of them felt the previous teaser was misleading for Evil Dead’s Ash Williams and a waste of a character slot. Regardless, Joker is still on his way and just this week received a teaser for his appearance to the game alongside his companion Harley Quinn. You can watch the Game Awards teaser below: For the most part, no details regarding the character’s looks has been shared following the rendered look of the upcoming addition. However, it is still exciting to finally see him in his virtual flesh processed into the game. What are your thoughts on Jokers look in the game? To kill some time, make sure you read p on Rectify Gaming’s review for Mortal Kombat 11 by heading here. Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

The Game Awards 2019: PlayerUnknown Productions Reveals First Look At New Title Prologue

For many, fans or simply just players would know PlayerUnknown for the association with the popular self-titled battle royale, Battlegrounds. And while the game continues to groom the multiplayer market as one of the most talked about games in the industry, PUBG Corp. also strives to bring a whole new element to the table by breaking away from the multiplayer-focused market. During this year’s Game Awards show, PlayerUnknown Productions presented the team’s first project, Prologue. While not really revealing much aside from some rocky formations and rain, there is no true context as for the gameplay or even the genre for that matter. You can watch the trailer just below: Even more so, digging any information regarding the title is hardly anything either. Taking from the game’s newly launched website reads “Prologue is a an exploration of new technologies and gameplay. Our aim with this game is to give players a unique and memorable experience, each and every time they play.” In a press release elsewhere, game creator Brendan Greene shares a similar objective as that is made apparent on the website. However, he also reveals that this opportunity to create an installment for the PlayerUnknown universe that is not specifically online will be one that he plans not to miss the target. “I have been given a once in a lifetime chance to deliver something new on a global stage. Being given a platform to build a brand-new experience outside of the Battle Royale genre is an amazing gift, and one I don’t want to squander.” Earlier in June, it was revealed that former Sledgehammer Games founder Glen Schofield will be head of another PlayerUnknown subsidiary studio, Striking Distance. The first project for the team was revealed to be a single player experience for the battle royale-centered game. It is expected that Prologue and Striking distance’s unannounced project are two separate titles. What is your first impression from the vague Prologue trailer? Prologue has no listed platforms nor a set release date.

The Game Awards 2019: Apex Legends Gets Christmas-Themed Holo-Day Bash Event

Another day, another Apex Legends event has arrived to the Outlands. During this year’s annual Game Awards ceremony, Mirage took the stage in an abrupt timing to reveal that the Mirage Voyage has landed in World’s Edge bringing a new decorative look to the second map of the game for the coming holiday season. Interesting a new capture-based mode dressed for the occasion, Winter Express has three different teams fight for the festive-painted locomotive that runs through the map. Rather than looting your way to victory, players will already be equipped with a pre-selected loadout and must fight their way to being the last group to conquer the train. However, this mode will be the first round-based game type coming to the game, so this will have some back-and-forth action to it. Alike previous events as well, players will have a set of exclusive event challenges that must be completes in efforts to unlock a slew of decorative cosmetics for your respected Legend and weapons. Talking about new looks, when travelling you will discover Mirage’s party hoverboat in World’s Edge, upon walking aboard, Respawn shares that players will “experience a side of Mirage you never knew.” One niché piece of information that I feel you may like to find out regarding the conversation that happened between Mirage and Game Awards host Geoff Keighley: while shows typically will have a few moments that might seem unnecessary as the conversation between the two was one, it was how they did it that makes it more interesting. Voice actor for the character, Roger Craig Smith, actually acted as his Apex persona live during the show in a motion capture suit in the same building, which he revealed on Twitter shortly after the skit. Are you planning on dropping into Apex Legends for this limited time event? Apex Legends is out now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Source: Respawn Entertainment

The Game Awards 2019: Ori And The Will Of The Wisps Launches In March 2020

It was earlier this year in June at Microsoft’s annual E3 press conference that the company along with developer Moon Studios officially revealed that the anticipated story-driven platformer Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be coming to Xbox and PC next year in February. But now, it looks that the game might have been pushed one month exactly with a few additions. During this week’s Game Awards show, Microsoft presented a new trailer for the upcoming sequel and closed out the showing by revealing that the game will be arriving now in March than the initially slated February. While not specifically pointing as to why the push for a month extension on the title’s launch date, it is stated that the team will use “the extra time to ensure that Ori fans get the best gameplay experience possible.” You can watch the new release date trailer below: As for those new additions mentioned before, Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be arriving to Xbox, of course, atop of PC on Windows 10 and now Steam. While not completely framing what platforms the title will be on respectively, Steam is in fact a new additions to supported platforms for sure. And with the newly positioned release for March, Moon Studios also revealed that there will be a Collector’s Edition for the title as well. Sharing that this pre-order alternative will offer a bevy of extra goodies for the bigger fans, such as: an official Art Book, physical copy of the game with an additional Piano Collections Music CD, MP3 Download for the game’s Soundtrack, themed Steelbook, and specialized packaging for the bundle. Side note: due to the changing of the release date by one month exactly, the launch date is now on a Wednesday rather than the originally settled release on Tuesday in February. Just thought that was a bit unorthodox for the industry. Ori and the Will of the Wisps will release on March 11, 2020 for Xbox One and PC. Source: Xbox Wire

The Game Awards 2019: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Announced, Next Gen In-Game Rendering Shown

This week’s Game Awards show at the Microsoft Theater truly opened the door to next year’s console generation as the company themselves presented the upcoming system for Xbox to kick off the show. Showcasing the look of the forthcoming Xbox Series X console, it wouldn’t be much to really flaunt without some evidence of what the machine can actually do, right? So alongside Microsoft, developer Ninja Theory following the console’s debut took the stage to announce Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. Doing so, the English studio presented a full-length trailer of what the game is with full in-game rendering of the project’s engine. You can see for yourself in the trailer below: Ninja Theory’s predecessor for the series initially launched for PlayStation 4 exclusively, but follow suit the project then reached Xbox One as well as a surprising well held up Nintendo Switch port as well. As for the platform this game will be releasing on, it is unsure as of yet whether the title will a exclusive to the Xbox platform (console and PC), or arrive as a multiplatform release later on. To dress the matter further regarding an Xbox brand exclusive, head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty shared to have interests in creating exclusive IPs based on the sequel of the acquired studio’s projects. Specifically referencing to Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds, he distresses that the series that can spawn from the first installment the studio “could build” from leading forward. So possibly the same can be said for Hellblade II as time goes on into 2020. In other Ninja Theory-related news, the developer’s upcoming online-only, melee-focused braler Bleeding Edge has been announced to arrive to Xbox One and PC on March 24th. The project will include cross-play between all supported platforms alike the previously held playtests for the game. What are your thoughts on Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II?
