Darwin Project Leaving Early Access On Xbox And PC, Hits PlayStation Next Month

The announcement of Darwin Project back in 2017 during Microsoft’s annual press conference during the week-long event did stand out from its game show-inspired direction and utilization of the battle royale genre to paint a fun character for the then-raising game mode. Since then, the title has been met with more than 3 million users who have fought their way to the last standing position through the roughs of the cold arena and lethal ballot passed by the viewers. Today, developer Scavengers Studio announces that the Earl y Access project will finally be leaving its testing phase and leaping to a full release next month in January. Upon the already listed Xbox One and PC release scheduled prior, the team also revealed that Darwin project will be arriving to PlayStation 4 as well in 2020. “After more than 3.6 million players braved the cold on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, the full release will also make its much-requested way to PlayStation 4,” Scavenger Studio’s press release reads on the new announcement. Concerning the core gameplay that will be available at launch, the developer highlighted three essential classes that players will have the choice to use: the high-flying Jet Wings, enemy-wrangling Grapple Gauntlet, and obedient Headhunter Drone will offer a mix of gameplay elements that results with diverse outcomes after each match. Especially as each lobby only consists of 10 contestants, it would be appreciated to be subjected to wildcard characteristics in-game. Of course, every online game wouldn’t be complete with a slew of cosmetic options for you to dress your player in. Shared in the announcement, Scavengers Studio disclosed that all items can be purchased in the Dressing Room, the game’s respected item shop. Players can use the game’s Ramen Packs which plays as the in-game currency to purchase virtual loot; real-time capital can be used to also buy Ramen Packs. Which platform do you plan on playing Darwin Project on? Darwin Project is labeled to officially release sometime in January 2020 for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. Source: Scavengers Studio

Respawn Already Hiring for Next Star Wars Game

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order only released a month ago, and Respawn is already looking ofr engineers and designers to work on its next project. EA’s official job listings page has three listings for Respawn’s Star Wars Team for Senior Character Artist, Level Designer and Senior Software Engineer. The listings were made on November 27th, 2019 and December 6th respectively, which means all three were done so after the release of Jedi Fallen Order on November 15th. The team at Respawn has been outright against microtransactions since the beginning, and that also unfortunately includes plans for any story based DLC. Jedi Fallen Order set the record for EA with the highest amount of digital sales within the first two weeks of release after November 15th. EA and Respawn must have seen the fan reaction to the game as the first job listing went up only 12 days post launch. We are years away from a sequel, but we have time as EA holds the license for Star Wars games for a minimum of four more years. If you haven’t yet, be sure to read our review of Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order as we gave it an 8.2/10. Let us know your thoughts below.

Celebrating 6 Years of Rectify Gaming

December 17th, 2013 at 11:17 AM was when Rectify Gaming was announced to the public through Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. It started out as a community based website for anything in the gaming industry focusing on news, community events and creating content. As the website would grow every month since then we grew to realize that we can make this more into a media outlet style site doing news and reviewing games. As time went on we of course had the opportunity to attend events like E3 and Gamescom as media. Fast forward to 2017 and that was when we introduced the re-brand of Rectify Gaming changing the logo to have a modern look to it and introducing us into esports with of course “Rectify Esports” which has become a big part of this company and will be moving forward. Since getting involved with Rectify Esports we have had multiple teams come and go with Call of Duty, Halo, and CS: GO. Currently we have our strong presence with Lil Capped & Ithrow for Brawlhalla who came in 2nd in the Brawlhalla 2v2 World Championships. We will be continuing our run in Super Smash Bros. with WonderBread as well in 2020. In 2019 our stream team has grown tremendously on Twitch and Mixer providing positivity in gaming by raising over $5,000 for Children’s Hospitals through Extra Life. This year we hosted our biggest tournaments through the Rectify Gaming Arena which were both on PUBG partnered with Outbreak Nutrition consisting of a total $3,000 prize pool which is something we’ve never done before. During 2019 we spent time working on some internal things such as building up our Director Staff that will help grow this organization in 2020 and beyond. Will Rectify Acquire More Teams In 2020? This is a question that has come up and will continue to come up of course. There is no question we plan on making team acquisitions in the coming year, but we have to make sure that they will be a good fit and more importantly we want to consistently win as an organization.   Here at Rectify Esports we are constantly working internally to make this happen and we plan on making the right moves at the right time. It has been a long wait this year to see us compete in more games specifically FPS and we hope to end that wait soon.  We want our community and followers to cheer for multiple teams, but at the end of the day we want the Rectify Family to cheer for winners.  As I can’t reveal much yet about what is going to come I hope you enjoy the fun ride that 2020 brings. Looking Back At Moments In 2019 For Rectify Esports Players EVO 2019 The biggest Fighting Gaming event in the world. EVO 2019 was one to remember with Ryan ‘BIG D’ competing in Mortal Kombat 11 for Rectify Esports. The way it ended is one that we will not forget with being one round away from Top 8 losing to Tweedy.  Having Ryan compete under Rectify has been an honor this year and we will never forget about this.    DreamHack Montreal 2019 DreamHack Montreal was the first time Rectify had played in a LAN tournament outside of the United States. This was also the first time Rectify has won a LAN tournament with Lil Capped teaming with (at the time free agent) Ithrow winning the Brawlhalla 2v2 tournament. Lil capped came in 5th in the 1v1 tourney there as well.  What made this win more memorable was that they came from the losers bracket and won 6-0 having to win two brackets in a row.  Brawlhalla World Championships  The $100K Brawlhalla World Championships took place in November at DreamHack Atlanta and this was the first time we had two players in Brawlhalla with Lil Capped and Ithrow.  The boys placed 2nd in the 2v2 Championship.  This is only foreshadowing the future of Rectify winning in the future. We have made big steps this year with our competitors and we will continue to grow with them.  This year will mark the first time since 2014 where we will not be doing a marathon live stream on our Twitch channel celebrating another year of Rectify. We are doing things a little different this year and focusing on what will be an enormous 2020. Thank you for supporting Rectify Gaming for the last few years and we can’t wait to show you what’s next.

Xbox Looking For Ways to Reinvent 1 vs 100

The decade is almost over, and what better way to end it than with news about a “revolutionary” game that helped start off the decade? One of the classic Xbox Live games, 1 vs 100, is possibly coming back according to a recent interview with Phil Spencer. 1 vs 100 was a television game show that was implemented into an Xbox Live game on Xbox 360. It had 100 players verse each other in various questions and competitions in order to win points and Xbox arcade games. It was not out long on Xbox Live, but it has still somehow managed to maintain a pretty decent amount of core followers who would like to see it re-imagined. Xbox President Phil Spencer spoke with Stevivor recently, and commented on their plans. Licensing issues seems to be a hurdle, but there are other ways according to Spencer: “The problem with 1 vs 100 specifically is it’s an IP that’s owned by a a game show company. But I’ll say Matt [Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios] and I have had a lot of discussions about the idea, whether it’s that IP specifically or just the idea of what it was, is something that we’d love to go do. So we’re out there kind of looking at ideas and talking to teams. Because I think that was one of those ideas — and it’s a cliche, almost — that might’ve been a little ahead of its time.” Technology has increased multiple times over since 1 vs 100 debuted in 2010, and there are multiple possibilities with how it or something similar could be implemented. I do have a suggestion for Mr. Spencer if I may : Cross platform rewards. Seriously, think about it. How great would it be and how popular if players could earn an achievement for “50G – Win a match with at least 50 PlayStation players in it?” Streamers could host matches through Mixer, rewards could be provided to players with the fastest response time, prize levels could increase the more you win consecutively – possibilities are endless. Hopefully we hear more soon

Undead Labs Opens Secondary Studio In New Orleans

The then-labeled Microsoft Studios back in June 2018 announced to be acquiring a slew of different development studios to help form the first-party lineup for the Xbox brand with teams like Playground Games and Ninja Theory to name a few. Among the eye-openers that were announced that day, mentioning of Undead Labs was not. Especially as seeing that the studio already crafted an exclusive title for the platform with State of Decay last generation, that segment of the reveal was expected. However, what many might not have anticipated from the Washington-based developer came from a recent announcement which disclosed that the team will be opening a secondary studio in Louisiana. More specifically in the capital which is New Orleans, Undead Lbs reveals that the team will be collaborating with game development institution based in the city. “Today we are excited to announce that the Undead Labs Studio Head and Founder, Jeff Strain, is launching an exciting new initiative,” the press release Undead Labs submitted reveals. “Jeff is dedicated to opening a new studio and a partnered broad-discipline game development academy in New Orleans, Louisiana. With the support of Xbox and Microsoft, Jeff’s going to continue in his role as studio head at Undead Labs while also building opportunities to bring in people who might not otherwise consider a career in the game industry. Maybe even someone with the vision for the next State of Decay is out there just waiting for the right opportunity! That’s all we can say for now, but we’ll share more information as soon as we can.” An exciting announcement for Undead Labs especially knowing now that the team will be able to work on multiple projects following this new founded team in Louisiana. Assuming that the team is already hard at work on the third installment for State of Decay, it is suggested that the new studio will focus on other projects centered in the zombie-filled universe or possibly a new IP altogether. Even more with the partnership with the unnamed school based in the state’s capital, this new opening could also bring opportunity to those who are pursuing the same field in the region to work for the developer. Essentially introducing fresh minds to the industry following their time at the academy that is associated with this new secondary developer. What do you hope to see next from Undead Labs? Remedy Entertainment Launches Expeditions For Control, Expansion One Coming This March

Remedy Entertainment back in August really blew players out of the water with the at the time upcoming release for third-person action adventure, Control. The title’s unique setting of The Old House ranging from the grey overtones that continuously changes to the accursed inhabitants that live in the halls of the government entity, this project really stirred the minds of those who played. And while players might have sped through the game’s story campaign sooner than they might have anticipated, Remedy acted fast on their feet as the studio revealed that the team will be dropping more end game content to give players initiative to continue playing. Slated for December, the developer delivered by shipping the new mode for free this past week during the yearly Game Awards show in Los Angeles. Looking from the trailer, the new Expeditions content update illustrates to bring players beyond comprehension with floating formations and puzzling locations that breaks the structure of the game’s already well-held location. Being self-evident from the name, you will embark on these unspecified areas to fight against groups of enemies in return for useful items. Ranging from three tiered difficulty options, the higher you ante will offer a better payout. Noted, there looks to also be a pay up fee for players who prefer to take on the bull’s horns as entering any of the modes will require payment for Jukebox Tokens. Alike the rewards per difficulty, the same is also said for your entry fee as well. The team also went ahead to share that the first story expansion The Foundation will be officially be arriving on March 26th next year. However, the trailer does not include any pressing information concerning the DLC’s premise nor discloses any context of what will be new in the new add-on either. Are you dropping back into Control to take on these new expeditions? Control is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
