Previous Rumors For Paper Mario Remake & Unannounced 2D Metroid Title Reaffirmed, New Claim Tells
Earlier this week, a slew of claims which surfaced back in November of last year reemerged following recent news that transpired to coincide with the initial rumor. Twitter user @markomaro posted an entire thread of seemingly plausible information that at the time could not be taken into consideration as fact. However, leading into 2020 with the past few Directs and believable leaks that have unearthed in January, the post unravels to be looking closer to legitimate now. While the user discloses information that was revealed prior to the post, they are correct about Pokémon Mystery Dungeon alongside Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition that got the beans spilled from Danish retailer Cool Shop. Now a reliable leaker who has proven their merit this past year comes to reaffirm the initial claims. Known on Twitter as @New_WabiSabi, the insider made a short thread regarding the previous leaks to validate their existence after doing some of their own investigating. Atop of determining the rumors to be legitimate, we do learn a little more detail of these unannounced projects. Regarding the more direct claim suggesting a remake for 2000’s Paper Mario 64, Sabi cites that the title will “go back to how it was,” suggesting that the series will be reinvigorated with the traditional formula through the upcoming reimagining. As for the lesser discussed Metroid 2D platformer, the poster tells that the project is also scheduled to release sometime this year. Sabi then goes on to establish that the untitled Metroid sidescroller will be following the roots of Metroid Fusion which originally released for the Game Boy Advanced. The initial claim tells that the game is expected to arrive in the later half of 2020. Aside from the two games reported today, Sabi does not expand to the other rumored games stated it @markmaro’s thread. Leaving the more interesting projects concerning Star Fox, Captain Toad, Kirby, or even Wario Ware VB in the dark. What games are you eager to hear about next?
Despite Glowing Reception, Death Stranding Doesn’t Make Top Selling Games For December 2019
This past November was over flown from the highly-anticipated release of Kojima Productions’ first software release of Death Stranding. The game since its initial release back in 2017 grabbed the bevy of grow PlayStation 4 owners seeing that this new project will include The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus to star as the game’s protagonist. Placing as a virtual successor to the cancelled Silent Hills which both Hideo Kojima and Reedus were previously involved with. Once embargo broke for the game for the critics, Kojima’s first self-developed title was met with glowing reception ranging from near perfect score atop of nominations for Game of the Year. Fans as well showed to be very invested in the title through their input on social media regarding the game’s world and in-depth storytelling. However, leading into 2020, the game did underperform unexpectedly. According to a report from the NPD Group, December 2019’s top ten selling titles were revealed, but Death Stranding unfortunately did not make the cut. Although titles which released in the same timeframe as Death Stranding made the list like Electronic Arts’ Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the same cannot be said for the Sony interactive Entertainment title. This is fairly odd to witness seeing as prior installments from the publisher like God of War & Marvel’s Spider-Man last year received similar reception, but yet does not apply to Death Stranding. The list also contains older titles that still made the list such as 2018’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 which is assumed to be the Switch iteration, Deluxe. Other previously released titles like January’s Kingdom Hearts 3 and march’s The Division 2 also are ranked December 2019’s best selling surprisingly. The least surprising reveal comes from Modern Warfare as the title is pitted the best-selling game of the month. Additionally, the NPD Group also disclosed the best-selling titles of the past decade, disclosing that out of the 20 games listed, half is from the Call of Duty franchise. Leaked Demo For Final Fantasy VII Remake Discloses VR Mode
For the past few weeks now, it surprised patient fans who are currently waiting for the upcoming remake of Final Fantasy VII as the demo for the game emerged into the public’s grasp for a few individuals in other regions to get their hands on the unreleased playtest. While Square Enix has yet to properly address the contents of this demo respectively, we do know that there is a slew of information seeping from the top of the download client. For starters, the demo is said to include majority of the first part for the remake including story-related details that were added with the retouched storyline, which ultimately ruins the campaign for those interested in picking up the game. Whilst that is a lesser desired fact to face, one that many are interested to learn more about is the supposed PC version that also emerged from the demo. Dataminers dug through the game’s code to unearth a PC port for the upcoming PlayStation 4 title with mentions of technical adjustments, naming NVIDA alongside AMD in what was provided from the person who reported the finding. Now more on that spectrum have seemed to also revealed itself to those still dissecting the demo for the game. According to Twitter user @SuperJamaalrio earlier this week posted an image of the soundtrack for the game which was provided in the demo. However, the song list when read thoroughly reveals to disclose an alleged ‘VR Menu’ as well, which you can view in the images provided below: Although we do not have certainty that this validates there being support for virtual reality headsets in Final Fantasy VII Remake, this does however suggest something could be in active development for the complete project. Atop of the game only being available on PlayStation 4 when it arrives later in 2020, this does help align the previous leak for a PC port even more if this later happens to be true. Just this past week, Square Enix alongside Producer for the remake Yoshinori Kitase have announced that the upcoming rework for the 1997 title will be receiving an extended push to April to finalize on the game’s development for a polished release. You can head here for full coverage on the news. How do you think virtual reality should be implemented for the Final Fantasy VII Remake? It was earlier this month in conjunction with the debut for the PlayStation 5 logo reveal that Sony disclosed the current PlayStation has surpassed 106 million units sold atop of 39 million active PlayStation Plus subscribers. Now reflecting on the entirety of this past decade for the 2010s, Sony is contested to still over exceed this segment of the new millennium as PlayStation 4 is ranked to be the most selling console. Although this applies to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 of last generation hardware as well, Sony’s current iteration of video game consoles still outperforms the prior models. While competition stands between Sony, Microsoft’s Xbox One, and Nintendo’s Wii U which initially debuted this generation, PlayStation 4 also manages to helm the most sold video game accessory for the decade. The respected Dualshock 4 is listed to outsell any other related product for the 2010s, the standard wireless black gamepad specifically. But it is Nintendo who looks to be showing impressive progress in the next generation already as the self-titled Switch console hybrid is placed as the best selling console of 2019. The same for video game accessories for 2019 is also given to Nintendo as the Switch Pro Controller is ranked the highest-selling product for this past year. With the launch of the upcoming Xbox and PlayStation 5 settled for this coming holiday later in 2020, Nintendo Switch already shows to have a well-developed head start before Microsoft and Sony. The latest console from Nintendo was reported to have outsold the lifetime sold units of the Xbox One at the start of December last year, roughly 46 million. Accounting for the past holiday season for 2019, that number could be rubbing close to 50 million units sold now. Which console have you made your primary unit to play video games this past decade?
