Nintendo Switch Ranked 2020’s Top Selling Console After Outperforming Competition In July

As the industry continues to inch closer to the dawn of the next-generation for console gaming with the Xbox Series X slated for this November alongside the PlayStation 5 that same release window, it should be noted a unit of that definition is already commercially available. That being the Nintendo Switch: while it does not perform as heavily as its counterparts, the system does do more with its character and attractive first-party lineup of titles. Since its retail debut back in 2017, the hybrid handheld console has illustrated to be a frontrunner for commercial gaming as the Nintendo Switch continues to climb the charts as one of the most prolific products coming from Nintendo. As of this month, the Nintendo Switch has been recorded to exceeding roughly 60 million units. But in contrast to this year in 2020, the system is disclosed to be not only the best selling console of this past month (July), but also dons the crown as the top selling console for the entirety of 2020. The information was disclosed by NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella who shared the news on Twitter. While gross hardware sales did dip in contrast to this time last year – even during the global pandemic we are currently living in – Nintendo Switch still overtakes both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Also featuring the launch of Paper Mario: The Origami King last month, the title does stand as the #1 seller on the Nintendo eShop. But overall, the game takes 3rd with Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima overtaking first in front of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Looking ahead for the Nintendo Switch, the unit does illustrate potential to overtake both current-generation systems well before the end of its lifecycle. Well, it already has for one. Back in early December, it was recorded that the Nintendo Switch overtook the Xbox One’s lifetime sales in just under the half its lifespan at the time. You can read the full report by heading here. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Listed For Xbox One & Nintendo Switch On Amazon UK

It looks that Amazon UK is a hot spot for up and coming remasters that are shipping to newer consoles, that being Nintendo Switch especially. It was uncovered earlier today that Nintendo’s 2011 entry The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was listed for the hybrid handheld console. Now, another game has been uncovered recently for the system. Shared on ResetEra, user Raigor shared a screenshot from Amazon UK which discloses that Criterion Games’ Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is receiving a remastered version for new consoles. The listing offers that both Nintendo Switch alongside Xbox One will be receiving the reworked game. It is presumed PlayStation and PC will also expect respected versions as well. The posting being offered by publisher Electronic Arts, it also discloses that the game is expecting a release date slated for November 13th. Howbeit, further details on the alleged project unfortunately ends there for excited fans looking to learn more. “Need for Speed Hot Pursuit launches you into a new open-world landscape behind the wheel of the world’s fastest and most beautiful cars,” the synopsis for the game reads on its Steam page. “From Criterion, the award-winning studio behind the Burnout series, Hot Pursuit will redefine racing games for a whole new generation. You’ll experience stunning speeds, takedowns, and getaways as you battle your friends in the most connected Need for Speed game ever.” Earlier in February, it was revealed that developer Criterion Games will be inheriting the rights to further create new Need for Speed entries. The team is also reported to be helming the next Need for Speed installment, the team disclosed back in June. You can read the full report by heading here. Stable 60 Frames Per Second Is Not Possible For Marvel’s Avengers Performance Mode On PlayStation 4, Crystal Dynamics Confirms

For more than a week already, PlayStation 4 users were granted exclusive access to the beta for Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers. Shoveling in hours of content for one pre-launch playtest surely is a way of putting it as players found the game to be virtually endless in things to do when getting their hands on the beta. And while the game does perform well, does lack in consistency. Players are aware that even the beefier PlayStation 4 Pro is not capable of the game running at a solid 60 frames per second even with performance mode enabled. So that leaves the question if this issue will be resolved coming launch for the game in less than a month. Well, that does not look to be possible. In that, Crystal Dynamics confirmed when speaking to Wccftech that the game is not capable of keeping a stable performance on PlayStation 4 Pro and the future does not look to squander the issue presented. It’s not going to be a consistent 60, it’s as high and as optimal as possible. It varies, it’s a variable frame rate and depends on the number of characters you might have and the stuff that’s going on. We’re working on optimizing for that mode in particular, we’re actually working on optimizing how we handle the loading of like an effect or the loading of physics in order to maximize it, that sort of stuff is ongoing right now. It happens at the very end of a project, to pull out all the bells and whistles and all the stops. And with that mode in particular, obviously the goal is performance. As a combat guy, personally, I’d love to see 60 FPS all the time, so we’re always pushing for that. That’s always the goal. I don’t know if we’ll hit it in every possible scenario, the game is just too crazy in certain cases to guarantee that. Vince Napoli, Marvel’s Avengers Combat Director While the developer does reassure to continue pushing for a flawless framerate for Marvel’s Avengers to be present, it is not guaranteed for every segment of the game. While it has been illustrated how impressive the game has performed already from shared gameplay footage, the whole game is very complex to full offer a consistent 60 frames per second. With the lingering Xbox One and PC versions slated to expect the beta soon, the story might change for the game with more optimized and powerful units to successfully execute 60 frames per second performance. And looking ahead, the next-generation iterations of Marvel’s Avengers are also suspected to do the same also acknowledging the power difference with current consoles. Howbeit, there is a report that has been passed around suggesting a handful of third-party studios struggling to implement 1080p/60 frames per second on PlayStation 5. If that is the case as well on the newer PlayStation system, users might not be fully satisfied if the claim is proven to be accurate. You can read the full report by heading here. Recent The Last Of Us Part II Update Offers New Difficulty Mode And Other Gameplay Adjustements

Just on the horizon of the two month mark since the initial release for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II, the team has shipped a new update to the game to add some adjustments to the core gameplay, include new gameplay features, and other features to diversify the experience visually for players. To do that, the studio’s Lead Systems Designer Matthew Gallant discuses what exactly is in the new update. In the blog post, Gallant discloses that the game will be receiving two difficulty modes: the returning Grounded difficulty mode and the newly introduced Permadeath. The first is a reiteration on the mode introduced in the original 2013 title severing players from the leisure of common items and beefing up enemies. The latter Permadeath is a more self-explanatory – dying will restart the experience. Naughty Dog does allow users to enter this difficulty mode on a day-to-day basis structured for the game’s story. Paired with the duo of modes offered in the update, there will also be two respected trophies for completing the main campaign with these difficulty modes activated. You’ll also be rewarded for your efforts. The Grounded update introduces two new Trophies: one for completing the game with any Permadeath mode enabled and another for beating it on Grounded difficulty. Don’t worry, though, neither of these Trophies will be required in order to earn the Platinum. In addition to the different ways to experience the game, owners of the game can find a slew of new in-game modifiers to bring a new experience to The Last of Us Part II. Those new variables added include infinite ammo, on-hit kill touch of death, and a handful of audio-distorting modifiers. Visually, there are also a slew of new filters that players can also implement for some unique-looking scenarios also. In late July, developer Sucker Punch Productions added an update similar to what Naughty Dog shipped for its game to Ghost of Tsushima. The client added a new difficulty mode and other tweaks to the title’s gameplay. You can read the full report by heading here. Are you going to sample this new update for The Last of Us Part II? Nintendo Switch Listing For The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Found On Amazon UK

Looking at plausible entries to be translated to the Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword does not look to be one. It was reported previously during November 2018 where Eurogamer verified Nintendo’s ambitions to port the classic 2011 title was not likely as the firm stated “to “have no plans” to ship the game. But, that does not look to be the case anymore. Despite the initial statement made by Nintendo nearly two years ago, the firm seemed to be going against its own word according to a recent finding. In that, users scouring Amazon.uk discovered Skyward Sword listed for Nintendo Switch. Provided from the page for the English region, the listing discloses to be a project being shipped by Nintendo. However, no other details can be collected from the finding. No images of the alleged project nor a description as for what could be included or providing a synopsis was posted. The game has a placeholder date for January 1, 2030, so there is nowhere to advance from that either. Although this listing in particular is still leaves fans with no other information, it does pre-maturely confirm the game’s presence. While the news has not been made publically, online listings do stand to be a nod before the call is made. Howbeit, take the discovery as a rumor until Nintendo properly shares the game’s presence at a later date. In other leaked ports for Nintendo Switch, it was discovered recently that Grasshopper Manufacture’s Killer7 Remastered was listed for the platform. Found on a LinkedIn page from an Engine Software employee, the title is also said to be hitting PC as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
