Five Nights At Freddy’s Creator Announces New Initiative To Offer Assistance To Fan Creators, Including A Remake Of The First Game

For more than five years now, Scott Cawthon’s Five Nights at Freddy’s has become a global phenomenon within the gaming market. And while many users online associate the series to be aimed towards a younger demographic for the most part, the dark back story of the series does still grab plenty of older players that still show interest in the franchise years later. With the latest endeavor for the series being Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted arriving to more platforms, the direction the franchise is heading in is still left undetermined currently. But in the meantime, there are several fan-made projects that hold very close tangibility to the story’s canon that even Scott Cawthon himself deems worth playing. In that, Cawthon this week on Reddit announced to be kickstarting a new initiative to offer assistance and direction for projects currently underway from dedicated fans. Cawthon shares that he wants to see these fan projects come to fruition and even told to be offering his own money to see that become a reality. I wanted to tell you all about a little project that I’ve been working on for a while now; it’s a giant collaboration involving several fangame creators who have made some of the most popular fangames over the years here in the community. It’s a project that’s designed to invest into those franchises, give back to the developers, and hopefully bring new entries to those franchises as well! There have been some great fanmade spinoff universes created in this community, and I want to see them keep going; that’s why I’ve put some my own cash toward development of new games in those game series. However, I’m going to stay OUT of the development side of things so that these creators can do their thing. Alike with similar projects that released previously, Cawthon emphasizes that involvement with the community will continue to be the main source of drive for these projects and will further bring fans together as the titles are expected to push more content for the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Those projects include: Five Nights at Candy’s 4, The Joy of Creation: Ignited Collection, Popgoes Evergreen, and One Night at Flumpty’s 3. In addition to fan-inspired ambitions that are currently underway, Cawthon also announces that fan developer Phisnom (A Shadow Over Freddy’s, Prokchop’s Adventures) will be directly involved with the remake for 2014’s Five Nights at Freddy’s. “Phisnom will be bringing you a remake/re-imagining of the original FNaF,” Cawthon announces in the post. And with the game’s newest addition, Rampart, the title’s definitive meta seems to be shifting as many players are taking interest in the notorious modder. Howbeit, while Respawn Entertainment has illustrated to continue the game’s progression with more additions later on, this endeavor could expand beyond EA’s servers. Gathered that the developer is honing in on the creative drive for Apex Legends with a dedicated studio based in Vancouver, the project does also contain ambitions to exceed from the gaming medium. In an interview with GamesRadar, Apex Legends Game Director Chad Grenier does shows his interest in working on a Netflix series later down the line if the opportunity appears. Yeah, I would love to do that. That sounds awesome. A Netflix animated series of Apex? Sign me up! I think right now we’re focused on making the game but heck, if someone wants to pitch me something I’ll listen. Although Grenier does tell that the current objective for Respawn Entertainment is to continue fueling more content into Apex Legends, he does disclose that he is open to possible ideas for the show if someone sharing similar interests comes to the table. Grenier also tells that the direction of the hypothetical show would also be represented best as an animated series. Currently, the developer crunches out 3D-rendered videos of the game for the Stories from the Outlands to inject lore into the coming characters being added to the Apex Games. But if the same style of animation was to be presented as a Netflix series or similar inspirations would surely be a must watch for many of the title’s avid fans.
