Known Composers Andrew Hulshcult & David Levy To Compose OST For Doom Eternal’s The Ancient Gods DLC

Following the release of Doom Eternal, id Software’s highly-anticipated sequel in the definitive reboot of its genre-defining first-person shooter, it was discovered that the associated composer for the two titles will most likely not return to his role later on. Composer Mick Gordon was said to have offered minimal mixing to the OST and did not take the project seriously as development inched closer to the game’s release date. With a vacancy on the role for the coming story expansion for Doom Eternal, The Ancient Gods, it was a matter of time before it was revealed which composer will take Gordon’s position. In a joint announcement on Twitter, it was revealed that two individuals will be taking the role for the game’s upcoming DLC release. That being disclosed by composer Andrew Hulshult, he announced that himself alongside David Levy will both be helming the composing for the add-on’s soundtrack. Giving some back story for the two composers, Hulshult has illustrated to be a very influential individual in composing music for video games in the past. In that, he has drafted tracks for 3D Realms projects such as the titular 3D Realms Anthology, Bombshell, and Wrath: Aeon of Ruin. Hulshult is also noted to be involved with the OST for Quake Champions, so this will not be his first endeavor with Bethesda-owned properties. The more wildcard reveal is the addition of Levy being part of the crafting for the DLC’s soundtrack. Reflecting on his previous work, Levy has worked on noted Rooster Teeth projects such as Red vs. Blue, RWBY, and Lazer Team. Outside of the one firm, Levy also worked on music for films such as Shilo, Slipping Through, and Dog Years. Recently during this past week’s Gamescom Opening Night Live, Bethesda unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Ancient Gods, Part One. The publisher slated that the add-on expansion will be arriving this coming October. You can read the full report by heading here. Ahead Of Rocket League’s Free-To-Play Release, Psyonix Confirms Online Services Will Not Be Required For PlayStation 4 & Nintendo Switch

Among some of the mountainous online-focused entries that the industry witnessed this generation, it is surely a surprise that some of them start off as paid titles rather than the normalized free-to-play route that is readily spared for other major projects. Howbeit, some games adopt that later on. When looking at Valve’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the online title transitioned towards the free-to-play business model in December of 2018 after six years of being a top-selling entry on Steam. And it was a matter of time until more properties followed the same route: one in particular being Psyonix’s Rocket League. The developer unveiled that its 2015 car soccer title would be releasing as a free-to-play game later on in the then-coming summer. Now, the time is almost here as the team brushed upon the finer details of the approaching launch for Rocket League. When elaborating on what can be expected for certain consoles, that being PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, Psyonix shared that both platforms will not require the platform’s respected online service to play online. PlayStation Plus on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch Online will no longer be required for online play on those platforms. Max Parker, Psyonix Editorial Manager The only lingering entity regarding the matters is Microsoft’s Xbox platform. While PC players are already playing Rocket League without the necessity of an online subscription service, the same cannot be said for the console side of things. Via Xbox Live, users are required to pay for the service to indulge in multiplayer – even if the games are free-to-play. At one point in the beginning of August, it was speculated the firm would be dropping the service altogether as the 12-month tier was delisted on the Microsoft Store. Howbeit, Microsoft later in a statement provided to The Verge confirmed that there are no intentions for Xbox Live to be a free service. You can read a full report by heading here. What platform are you playing Rocket League on when it goes free-to-play? Rocket League is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Source: Psyonix
Switch Version For Super Mario 3D World Announced With Bowser’s Fury Added Content, Coming February 2021

As part of a stinging set of rumors that have been circulating around Nintendo since late spring, it was foretold that the firm would be rereleasing a selection of fan-favorite 3D Super Mario titles as part of one singular bundle. Atop of the claim, many suspected the firm could potentially offer the disclosed titles to be offered separately as well. These titles included the likes of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. The collection of games just late last month was said to be releasing sometime in a “couple weeks”, told by SpawnWave’s Jonathan Downey. Howbeit, not all titles made it into the cut as of reporting for the collection. While the already aforementioned titles will be shipping as part of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars bundle, other suspected titles will be sold separately. One being the Wii U-released Super Mario 3D World which was unveiled during today’s Super Mario Direct. Previously being listed on Best Buy for the platform, the game will be returning with a graphical retouching and new content not included in the base game. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below: “Pounce and climb through dozens of colorful stages! Mario (and his friends) can use power-ups like the Super Bell, which grants catlike abilities, like climbing and scratching,” the synopsis reads on the game’s eShop page. “Work together locally* or online** with up to three other players to reach the goal…and to see who can get a high score.” And yes you read that correct, Super Mario 3D World unlike its original Wii U version will now include online play for the first time alongside the originally offered local co-op. In addition to the reiteration of the 2013 title, Nintendo announces there will be a new extension DLC for the game dubbed ‘Bowser’s Fury’. While not much is illustrated from the announcement, you can catch a glimpse of what to expect from the ending segment of the trailer. Nintendo tells that additional information on Super Mario 3D World and it is presumed the firm will elaborate more on the newly announced add-on as well then. What are you most excited about Super Mario 3D World coming to Nintendo Switch? Super Mario 3D World arrives on February 21, 2021 for Nintendo Switch.
Gaming Alternatives That Can Have You Hooked

Let’s be honest, we can all get a little bored at times. Sunday afternoons when you have no plans, finishing work early and not knowing what to do with yourself. Let’s not even talk about the last six months where many of us haven’t been working and had to find new ways to occupy our time. These games can be great, but you also need to make sure that you use them responsibly and make sure you check them out before parting with any money. Setting up a gaming tournament amongst friends and family If you have a favourite game why not get others involved in it too. Games like Fifa or other sports related games are the perfect platform to set up a tournament between friends and family. You can do it together, or work on it at your own pace but it gives that added dimension of competitiveness and talking points between you all. Headsets and online vendors calling on your phone can help you all to stay connected and communicate while enjoying some gaming fun. Playing your favourite game online Maybe you have a game that you love, but you have completed the main body of it and are looking for other options. Many games have some form of online version you can play where you can enjoy playing with others all over the world. This can enable you to try out your skills or feel that competitiveness without involving friends or family. If you feel comfortable, you can also use a headset to communicate with people all over the world. Organising a time to play with friends If you like to play with others why not book the time in with friends and family and play online? It could be a friday night together, but in the comfort of your own home alone which again will help with things like social distancing as we all face this new normal we find ourselves in. You can put on a headset and talk to one another and enjoy the game. Use games for other reasons Maybe you want to utilise your gaming passion for other reasons. Perhaps you want to relax instead of feeling stressed or use it as a distraction. Maybe you like to problem solve and use your brain and this is where gaming can come into its own. There are alternative games that you can try that will help you achieve what you want to do. A quick look online searching out what you want and the games console you have should identify some alternative games to try out. Record yourself playing games and put them online Finally, have you ever thought of sharing your gaming tips? Many people record themselves and the game they are playing and create videos for online platforms like YouTube. It might be that you have a great method for achieving a difficult element of a game, or you just want to share your skills and knowledge. You never know where it might lead.
