Hi-Rez Studios’ CEO Tells Rogue Company To Be The Most Played Title Under The Firm’s Entire Catalogue As Of This Weekend

For patient fans that have been awaiting the day that Rogue Company goes free-to-play, the day has finally arrived. This past Thursday, developer First Watch Games and publisher Hi-Rez Studios shared that the 2019-announced title will be opening to the public. In that, the game will be going into open beta and players on all supported platforms will be able to experience the new third-person shooter. As is expected for players to install the game based on the premise of the game being free, the chances of more downloads is higher thanks to the feature for cross-platform play as well so no barriers are in the way of players on different systems. But even for Hi-Rez Studios, Rogue Company even broke its expectations. According to a new post on Twitter from Hi-Rez Studios CEO Stewart Chisam as of October 3rd, Rogue Company is the most played title in the history of the company in that 24-hour time span. Even in comparison to Hi-Rez Studios-published properties like Smite and Paladins, this is a feat that cannot be easily achieved. Especially following the evergrowing competitive background imbedded in both titles, Rogue Company illustrates the same might be in order for the new title leading into the coming future later on. Zenimax Online Reported To Be Working On New AAA IP, New Engine Also In The Development

Since last month with Microsoft’s enormous announcement to be acquiring Zenimax Media and the parent company’s subsidiary firm Bethesda, many question the future for upcoming properties and other projects that have yet to be announced. While it is unsure as to what will come from the teams that make up Bethesda, it is a known fact that more titles coming to fruition will be more impactful thanks to the resources at Microsoft. Among that, developer Zenimax Online is reported to be working an entirely new IP. That being an AAA project specifically, the news broke from findings in the new job listings posted by the studio. “Join our studio for the development of our next AAA game,” the description reads for a Lead Gameplay Camera Designer posting. “This is a chance to join an experienced group of developers in pre-production for a new IP.” Atop of the new project that is currently under wraps at Zenimax Online, it is also brought to attention that the firm is also creating a new proprietary engine for the unnamed title also. Initially disclosed by @_XboxNews, Zenimax Online Lead Graphics Engineer Alex Tardif shares the discussion to be accurate on Twitter. Even more, some job listings on the developer’s website explicitly mentions that the team is working on a new engine. One being the posting for a Lead Gameplay Engineer, asking for an applicant eager to “develop game systems in our new engine for the studio’s next AAA project.” In other news regarding upcoming Bethesda projects, Xbox head Phil Spencer briefly mentioned some details on new titles in development. Mojang Studios Unfolds All Details For The Upcoming Cliffs & Caves Update For Minecraft

For many that have acknowledged this weekend’s significance, this year’s annual Minecraft Live took place. Leading up to the event, developer Mojang Studios shared that a new poll will be held to decide on three new mobs: Moobloon, Iceologer, and Glow Squid. Among the three, it was spared after the brief voting session that the aquatic Glow Squid will be joining the game later on. But for more detail on what is currently on Minecraft’s roadmap for the coming months, Mojang Studios reiterates on last year’s poll winner, Mountains. In that, the firm gave a glimpse at the new goats that will be coming. As you would expect from their blocky appearance, the new mob has high jumping abilities and can tackle those who get too close. Additionally, the team also offered a look at how mountains generated appear in the coming update. Oh yeah, Mojang Studios also provided the new name for the coming update – Cliffs & Caves. Elaborating on the winning candidate of last year’s polling and years of an expansive overhaul for the underground, Mojang Studios gave a full presentation on the new update during Minecraft Live this weekend. You can watch it in full in the video below: Summarizing on some aspects that were featured in the showcase, alike the bombastic Nether Update earlier this year there will be a similar treatment to the cavernous regions of Minecraft. This includes two new biomes to the depths: Lush Caves and Dripstone Caves. For the first, players can find these vegetation-filled caverns under a azalea tree on the surface. In that, players can discover dripleaf plants, hanging glow berries, and the new Axolotl mobs. The latter Dripstone Caves offers both stalagmites and stalactites to the world’s underbelly. Other underground findings include copper ore, amethyst, and shulk growths as you reach the void. The new mineral opens new opportunity to craft lightning rods and combined with the crystals to introduce the telescope to Minecraft. To unearth the shulk growths, Mojang Studios best explained the new addition to be a form of “wireless redstone” as the block reacts to movements to activate. Going back to the surface, Mojang Studios is also adding archeology sites as well. Uncovered across the world, players can use the brush to find new items and uncover the history of certain findings.
