The Game Awards 2020: BioWare Offers Teaser Trailer For Next Mass Effect Game

This year’s Game Awards already happened to be flowing with BioWare anticipation as the developer was told to be presenting a new, first-look at the coming Dragon Age game. Following roughly half a decade since the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, it is refreshing to learn that the developer is still working to bring new additions to the franchise. And with the trailer dropping, fans get to grasp how the next installment will stand as in the sense of the game’s engine alongside some details spared on the game’s website. Interesting enough is that the firm only shared the game to be dubbed ‘Dragon Age’ potentially referring the game to be a potential retelling of the series. Or simply just a placeholder name – which BioWare will probably clarify sooner than later. Closing the show, however, BioWare remerges to share another trailer. This time for the next Mass Effect game. You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below: “Get a sneak peek at the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe,” the video’s description reads. “A veteran team at BioWare is in the early stages of what is on the horizon for the Mass Effect franchise, and we are excited to show you where we’ll be heading next!” The overview does go on to echo what BioWare told previously when initially announcing a new game is in the works. More recently, Electronic Arts unveiled that BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson will be retiring from his role at the company alongside Dragon Age Executive Producer Mark Darrah. Hudson in particular was told to be involved heavily with the development of the next Mass Effect title, but now he is moving away from the franchise altogether. While developer PUBG Corp. is most recognized for its multiplayer experience that its name is derived from, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the team is also pursuing to ship a single player experience leading forward. But what became even more interesting is when it was announced Dead Space creator & Sledgehammer Games founder Glen Schofield would be helming its new firm, Striking Distance. It wasn’t until The Game Awards last year in 2019 that Striking Distance made a brief appearance to feature a first-look teaser for its coming project. While the footage did not showcase much context on the coming project, it did offer some promising visuals looking ahead for more to be revealed from the developer. The Game Awards 2020: BioWare Offers First Teaser Trailer For Dragon Age

Earlier in the week, Geoff Keighley disclosed that developer BioWare, the team responsible for Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic will be returning to The Game Awards this year to share a first-hand look at the next Dragon Age title. For the coming game, the developer previously shared that the next entry is still in early development and it came to be a surprise fans could get a glimpse at the game. In the trailer, we do get a sense of the next entry with in-engine rendered footage of the project. But as expected, full-fledge gameplay is still left out, at least for this time. Thankfully, this does suggest the game might be arriving sooner than expected if BioWare is confident in showing footage this soon. You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below: “Enter Thedas, a vibrant world of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities,” the new Dragon Age website reads. “The Dragon Age is a time of warring nations, savage combat, and secret magics. Now, the fate of this world teeters on a knife’s edge. “Thedas needs a new hero; one they’ll never see coming. Forge a courageous fellowship to challenge the gathering storm. Friendship, drama, and romance abound as you bring striking individuals together into an extraordinary team. Become the hero and light the beacon of hope in their darkest moments.” BioWare in the trailer goes on to reveal that the tile for the game is ‘Dragon Age’. Rather than the presumed ‘Dragon Age 4’, perhaps the team is going to retell the story of the series in a new and modern approach. Of course, we will continue to learn more as time unravels – so take that with little fact until more is shared. Are you excited for the newest Dragon Age after the latest trailer?

The Game Awards 2020: The Initiative Announces New Perfect Dark Game

For about two years since the founding of Santa Monica-based studio The Initiative, many speculated as to what the new game will be as industry veterans form the new Xbox Game Studios team. Although predictions are in the air, there did not happen to be any concrete proof to determine what the game will actually be. In April, one developer accidentally revealed that the unannounced project would feature spy gadgets and other technology. Following into the summer, two Twitter accounts leaked, one for Fable and the other being Perfect Dark. While the first did happen to be unveiled the following month in July, Perfect Dark never arrived. But later on in a report from GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, he tells that the coming project will be offering a new experience established within Perfect Dark universe. Now in a surprise announcement that took place during tonight’s Game Awards, The initiative finally took the stage to unveil its next game, Perfect Dark. You an watch the reveal trailer in the video below: “We have built the Perfect Dark team at The Initiative by bringing in some of the most talented game makers from around the industry who all share a passion for storytelling, world-building and creating memorable game experiences,” Darrell Gallegher, The Initiative studio head writes. “With the full backing from Xbox Studios to re-imagine one of the best loved IPs from gaming history, we couldn’t be more excited to share some of our early ideas.” The game is still told to be in the early phases of development, so periodic updates are expected to arrive as the Initiative is ready to share more information leading forward. Gathered from the game’s titling, perhaps the game will be a retelling or a reboot of the franchise, similar to how Playground Games is with Fable or Turn 10 Studios for Forza Motorsport.
