Xbox 360 Legacy Title CastleMiner Z Could Be Returning To Modern Systems

Predating back to the era of the Xbox 360, before the reign that is Minecraft, the title only resided on PC. But for fans that hungered for a blocky, open-world sandbox on Microsoft’s device looked to alternatives. Titles like FortressCraft and CastleMiner ended being the two competing, third-party projects that closely resembled somewhat Minecraft at the time. While the games did quench the Minecraft thirst, the two only offered traditional building with no hostile experiences. While FortressCraft remained the same on Xbox 360, developer DigitalDNA Games introduced a jam-packed sequel, CastleMiner Z. While virtually the same game in appearance, the follow-up includes crafting alongside firearms and monsters to fight. But during the transition of the consoles, the likes of these titles from the Xbox Live Indie Game program either dwindled or moved over to PC. For the sake of CastleMiner Z, a Steam version shipped in 2013. Another game, CastleMiner Warfare, also released in 2014. But, the series is currently on hiatus. Despite that, many nostalgic players request the series return – CastleMiner Z specifically. And now more than half a decade of silence, DigitalDNA Games’ founder Thomas Stone finally commented on the possibility of a remake for the title. For sure, the venture would be interesting to witness if pursued mainly due to the Avatar profile system utilized for games of its era. To interpret this with current hardware, it conjures the question if the same will be done with the modern Avatars on Xbox or to hop towards the pre-selected characters alike on PC. DigitalDNA Games since its hiatus on CastleMiner moved on to other trends like battle royales with its 2018 release, Death Toll. The game, unlike its predecessors, while received averagely does present an advancement in the engine used which shows a glowing hope for its future. But given that the team is asking for fan input first and foremost, that will ultimately determine if the remake will ever truly manifest. Similarly, there is another game of the Xbox 360 age that could be returning. And just like CastleMiner which incorporated player Avatar’s, 1 Vs 100 is a title fans would line up to revisit. When speaking during an Xbox Fanfest interview, Xbox lead Phil Spencer rekindles hope for a resurrection for the game show video game. You can read the full report by heading here. Decade-long Sonic The Hedgehog Voice Actor Roger Craig Smith Announces His Departure From The Role

As of the past couple of years, chatter continues to grow as fans inch closer to the promised 2021 release for the next Sonic the Hedgehog title. Team Sonic head Takashi Iizuka pressed in a 2019 interview that the next major installment is a couple years away. “The next big year for Sonic is 2021.” He adds, that’s the 30-year anniversary for Sonic.” Fans later on in 2020 uncovered the investor advertiser which includes new content on all fronts for Sonic the Hedgehog. And alike what Iizuka mentioned, the 30th anniversary for Sega’s largest mascot will issue plenty of announcements when time is due. But, things look to be advancing as part of Sonic’s DNA is moving on to new horizons. In that, Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor Roger Craig Smith on Twitter announced he will be hanging up his shoes for the beloved character. He shares that after ten years, Smith will now be “onward to new zones”. Initially, plenty of fans were surprised by the abrupt reveal, but Sega latter pressed on the matters via the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account. “For over 10 years, Roger Craig Smith has been an integral part of the SEGA family. He brought the voice of Sonic to life, and we are forever grateful for his never-ending enthusiasm in helping the community and spreading joy.” Continuing, “thank you, Roger, for all you’ve done for Sonic.” So, almost for certainty, Smith is likely not involved with a new Sonic the Hedgehog project underway. While Sega attempted to sweep it under the carpet, the internet acted fast in preserving the brief announcement for a new Sonic the Hedgehog series on Netflix. The production is said to hit the streaming service in 2022. As for Smith’s other endeavors, he is also does voice over work for another notable role – Apex Legend’s Mirage. His most recognized attribution to the battle royale character is his live-action motion capture for the bamboozling holographic trickster during 2019’s The Game Awards.
