Sony CFO States Supply For PlayStation 5 To Tail Behind Demand Well Through 2022

Most exciting about the latest PlayStation 5 is not just the next-level of gaming that is to be unique to the platform, but also the surprising performance of the system right out of the door. Now counting at 7.8 million units as of last month, the PlayStation 5 also overtook the amount of hardware allocated to its predecessor. In that, the latest iteration sold 200,000 more than the PlayStation 4 in the same amount of time. But, the PlayStation 5 is also being withheld of its full potential in the market. That is to blame for the lacking silicon available to manufacture said console. Even more, Sony acknowledged that semiconductors is the biggest concern. However, that is not only a problem for the Japanese company. Elsewhere, United States 46th President Joe Biden shared to investigate the problem to better assist the economy in the western hemisphere. Still though, it seems that the full availability for PlayStation 5 is to resume later than projected. In a statement transcribed by Bloomberg, Sony tells that the light stock for the systems is to be stagnant until the latter half of 2022 next year. I don’t think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up with demand. Horoki Totoki, Sony Chief Financial Officer In the past, AMD that produces the semiconductors and other required silicon for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and even PC components told that the wait would extend until June 2021. But taken from the new statement from Sony, it appears that demand is still too high for the PlayStation 5 to be easily available. More unfortunate is there’s still no efficient way to deflect the ongoing scalping for newer consoles still. Perhaps the statement could be only a projection. In the past, Bloomberg has inaccurately reported on the status of refreshed stock for PlayStation 5. At the time, Sony told gamesindustry.biz that Bloomberg’s report is false on the number of produced systems for launch. You can read the full report by heading here. Ubisoft Confirms New Titles From Its Internal Teams To Be Branded With The ‘Ubisoft Original’ Banner

In hindsight of the plans for Ubisoft, the firm still has plenty of properties that are still being churned out for its consumer base. Namely, anticipated releases such as Roller Champions, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Far Cry 6 are still underway. But, the publisher is pursuing a new route on how its fans will associate the unique releases from the firm moving forward. As those might recall from the previous announcement for The Division Heartland, a free-to-play experience set in the Tom Clancy-inspired series, the game is branded with the ‘Ubisoft Original’ title. But, all games that originate from the internal teams at Ubisoft moving forward will also brandish the same banner moving forward. “Moving forward ‘The Ubisoft Original’ mention is attached to all of Ubisoft’s games created in-house by our talented developers,” a spokesperson for Ubisoft explained in a statement provided to Eurogamer on Monday. Currently, it is still unclear if titles already officially unveiled for Ubisoft’s release pipeline will also bear the same badge as newly announced games will. So for the aforementioned titles still forthcoming or others like Riders Republic – it is left in obscurity as of writing. For what is certain to take place under Ubisoft is its self-named presentation later next month. In mid April, Ubisoft announced to be hosting its third Ubisoft Forward show on the first day of E3 in June. You can read the full report by heading here. Gears Of War Team The Coalition Announces Transition To Unreal Engine 5, New Projects Far From Announcement

When eying over at the work from The Coalition, especially with the release of Gears 5: Hivebusters, the Xbox Game Studios team has shown to go to some excellent lengths with its engine at work. That being Unreal Engine 4, the technology that materializes the world we play in – that being for Gears of War or other series altogether – presents to be one of the most effective tool for hundreds of developers. As many are aware, Unreal Engine 5 is arriving this year. But, there is still no indication as to when the latest iteration is coming. But, some game studios manage to get their hands on the engine ahead of its official release. Already, Xbox Game Studios developer InXile Entertainment confirmed its next unannounced project is already using Unreal Engine 5. And in a similar situation, The Coalition is to do the same thing. In a new blog post from the developer, the team is to be transitioning to Unreal Engine 5. But, the decision will be taxing on the game studio as new announcements will be far from being unveiled, says The Coalition. Gears 5 has content on the way, and we’ll continue to release new operations through Operations 7 and 8. Each Operation will have two drops including new characters, new maps, and special events. Through the end of the year, we will have store updates with exciting new content as well as featured playlists. Shifting to a new engine is a big undertaking, so we want to be clear that we will not be announcing any new projects or titles for some time. The clarification while exciting for the advancements to come to The Coalition is also disappointing to hear. In the past, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb did state that Gears 6 did have a likely possibility of being announced at E3 this year. But, due to the circumstance of the move to Unreal Engine 5, the chances appear to be slimming down. Elsewhere previously, The Coalition is looking to iterate greatly on the fabric that defines Gears of War. In a job listing for the developer, the posting asks for potential hires in search to “forge the future” of the Gears franchise. You can read the full report by heading here. Report: Xbox & Adidas Collaborating For New Special Edition Line Of Shoes

For Xbox company Microsoft, the firm through its adventurous marketing for the video game platform has gone through obtuse routes to projects its product to new consumers. The oddest attempt happened to be its collaboration with hygiene product manufacturer Lynx back in 2019. As you can gather by the brand, the campaign never reached the United States as Lynx’s sibling company Axe never welcomed the same products. More recently so far this year, Microsoft has taken this pursuit of Xbox products to a more comical level. Going on the running gag of the Xbox Series X looking like a fridge, the company collaborated with energy drink firm ZOA to offer a limited edition minifridge that takes after the latest Xbox console. However, after winning the Twitter poll recently, Microsoft is to officially produce its own Xbox Series X minifridges later on in the year. But, that might not be the only arrangement from Microsoft. In that, Complex reports that the Xbox company and Adidas is to bring a new special edition shoe for its fans to sport. However, the apparel has yet to be announced with sources familiar with the product relaying information to the outlet in the report. Gathered from the leaked document that Complex viewed, there will be four pairs that are to release in the coming months leading to the fall: Forum Tech Boost in June, Adidas Forum retro Mid Basket Ball shoes in October, and Forum Tech in November. Additionally, there will be more planned to release in 2022 with an undisclosed number of pairs. Most interesting is the number of pairs that are to release over the amount of time projected. In contrast to the PlayStation x Paul George deal, there is a full line to choose from. The ‘PG 5 PlayStation 5 colorway’ is said to release on May 14th. You can read the full report by heading here.
