For Obsidian Entertainment’s future, many are already looking ahead in anticipation for its next highly-anticipated title, Avowed. Announced nearly a year ago, the firm since the unveiling has remained silent on the project. However, there are also plans for the developer to pursue a follow-up to 2019’s The Outer Worlds. PlayStation 5 Hardware Sales Already Doubled Xbox Series X|S, Report Shares

Although it has been more than half a year already since the release of both the Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5, the industry is awaiting for the divide for both console platforms to emerge. While players have their preference of console, many are interested to see where which console will lead the other in terms of hardware units sold. Disregarding the number, both Microsoft & Sony is profiting phenomenally as of late. In the most recent financial report from Microsoft, hardware revenue grew nearly 300 percent with demand up 232 percent from 80 percent months prior, the firm recorded. As for PlayStation 5, the system was reported to overtake sales figures of its elder PlayStation 4 in its first fiscal year already, IGN indicated previously. However, Ampere Analysis in a new report discloses that the PlayStation 5 already overtook hardware sales 2:1 to Xbox Series X & Xbox Series S combined. Both Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles are suffering from supply constraints and unpredictable availability. These conditions are expected to continue for the rest of 2021 as competition for components remains high, making it challenging for many CE companies to increase production. Under these conditions, both versions of PlayStation 5 combined outsold both versions of Xbox Series consoles by more than 2 to 1. Piers Harding-Rolls, Ampere Analysis Analyst Remarking on the shortage of silicon to manufacture these consoles, it is anticipated that this constraint is to carry through for majority of 2021. However, Microsoft previously told The New York Times that production is to pick up for Xbox. The same story cannot be said for PlayStation 5 though as Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki said the issue might remain well into 2022 at the latest. Previously, Ampere Analysis reported on the inception of the 9th generation of consoles when the two system shipped this past November. In that, it was said that both PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S sold at par to its preceding PlayStation 4 & Xbox One respectively. You can read the full report by heading here.
