Hellraiser’s Pinhead The Next Killer For Dead By Daylight, Developer Reveals

Regarding the ongoing campaign of additions for Dead by Daylight, fans at the beginning of the summer indulged in a crossover pack for Resident Evil. Noted, 2021 marks the 25th anniversary for the franchise, publisher Capcom used that opportunity to celebrate with a collaboration with Behaviour Interactive to feature elements of the series in the online horror title. Upon its initial reveal, Behaviour Interactive left players questioning what exactly will be featured in the experience in terms of the killer especially. But with the later release date trailer that followed after, Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis was shared to fill that spot alongside Jill & Leon to be the update’s survivors for Dead by Daylight. In a recent teaser for Dead by Daylight from Behaviour Interactive, many question what exactly the team is hinting at for its next reveal. Pinhead is an explorer in the further regions of experience, indulging in the limitless thrill of pleasure and pain,” Behaviour Interactive writes. “When the puzzle box known as the Lament Configuration—a key to another dimension—was found in The Entity’s realm, it was only a matter of time before it fell into curious hands. Once opened, he arrived. What came next was sweet suffering that spilled over the realm.” Certainly this is not the first horror film franchise to bridge into Dead by Daylight. Goodbye Volcano High Receives 2022 Delay

Upon an evergrowing era of narrative stories that players can engross themselves in through video games, the same standard is applied when developer KO_OP presented Goodbye Volcano High last year. Featured during the PlayStation 5 Showcase in June, it proved that many talented developers are working to deliver fulfilling experiences to Sony’s system first as the game will be marketed for the platform. However, it was also pressed previously that the game studio is juggling more than it can handle. While the COVID-19 pandemic at the time was already a stress test for the team, it was also disclosed that KO_OP is reworking the story from scratch in the midst of development. But ultimately the change in motion has now resulted in pushing this year’s release for the game into 2022. According to a new blog post on the team’s website, Goodnye Volcano High is now being rescheduled to ship later in 2022 now. It’s been a really hard year for many reasons, and the mental and physical health of the team has to come first. We don’t want to crunch, and we don’t want to put ourselves in stressful situations to finish the game by 2021 when we can take a little more time. So ya! That’s that! Band-aid ripped! We love the community that we’ve fostered through developing Goodbye Volcano High, and we hope it isn’t too much of a bummer to have to wait a little longer for the dino drama. Thank you to those who have been supporting us since day one and to those who have joined us along the way. We really appreciate you and your support. We love making this game and we’re lucky we have a chance to make it! Elsewhere from developer KO_OP, the team also offered an interview with its narrative team on the experience that stands to be the meat that is the Goodbye Volcano High dish. “I think when you join a game already in motion, the first couple weeks are a bit like putting together a puzzle. You have a lot of pieces left over from the original narrative, and you sort of have to pick through them and figure out, ‘Okay, here’s what’s unchangeable, here’s what’s flexible, and here’s what’s still missing’”, Kim Belair explains. “And then you have to build a story within parameters you weren’t around to set. We had an extra challenging job I think, because it’s not just about story– it’s not just, ‘Oh this plot point would work better later.’ It’s about the fact you have all of these assets already developed, bits of animation already done, gameplay sequences mapped… so you really are doing the work of making connections and building narrative between them, rather than coming in and making something from the ground up.” Can you wait a bit longer for Goodbye Volcano High to release? Goodbye Volcano High is now slated to ship for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC sometime in 2022. Source: KO_OP, (1)
