October 2021 Update For Xbox Welcomes 4K Dashboard, Night Mode, Quick Settings
For newly added features that made its way to Xbox since the launch of the Series X & Series S, Microsoft continues to find new initiatives to further the experience on the newest hardware. Most recently, Microsoft delivered on its promise for Dolby Vision with support for enabled displays on both Xbox Series machines. There are other tools that are still making its way to the service as well at the moment. In that, Microsoft went out to share in a previous Xbox Insider Skip Ahead update that the dashboard is receiving a 4K upgrade from the high definition (1080p) version available now. It is questionable why it took so long ever since the Xbox One X and PlayStation 5 launching with said support. On Thursday, official support goes live for all users alongside additional features as well including night mode and quick settings according to the Xbox Wire post. We’re excited to share that starting today, players with an Xbox Series X connected to a 4K display will see the dashboard natively rendered in 4K. You can experience 4K while browsing the Home, My Games & Apps, Guide, and many other experiences. UI elements on the screen, such as game art and buttons, will have increased sharpness and improved text readability. Jonathan Hildenbrandt, Xbox Experiences Principal Program Manager “Xbox night mode is a suite of settings that adjusts light sources to help keep rooms dark at night and support gamers who are sensitive to light. You can dim and customize the light from the connected display, the power button on your controller, and the power light on your console,” Hildebrandt continues for the other features. Notably, quick settings welcomes a flexible suite for users to adjust elements for the system without having to directly navigate through their menu. More specifically, accessibility features are even more apparent for those that require the extra assistance or if you simply decide to disable certain ones. Elsewhere, Microsoft also went on to fully integrate Chromium for Microsoft Edge previously. Users can now run applications like Discord, Stadia, and Office via Xbox. Among Us To Ship For Xbox, PlayStation This Holiday On December 14
While Among Us swelled to being one of the most impressive releases in 2020 from the scale of the team at InnerSloth, projections for where the studio will head is certainly to be considered. As you might presume, console is the new aim for the game. However, one developer previously cautioned hope when figuring out how to translate the project to controller without a simple answer to type-based chat. It was later that the game received a Nintendo Switch version out of the blue. The handheld console hybrid does feature a touch screen so it passes for that release. Thankfully, InnerSloth went on to deliver a quick chat feature for users to send instant quips to users without having to stop and type. More interesting is when the developer revealed a new version is underway for both Xbox alongside PlayStation later on for 2021. Noted, Xbox Game Pass owners can nab the game when it launches, Microsoft added. On Thursday, InnerSloth announced the title is arriving to both consoles this December. “We’re excited to share the big news that Among Us is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and with Xbox Game Pass on December 14!” InnerSloth Community Director Victoria Tran wrote on Xbox Wire. She continues elsewhere on PlayStation Blog, “Welcome to the crew, PlayStation! At long last, we have a release date. “On December 14, Among Us will be launching on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Traverse through space and attempt to hold your spaceship together alongside your other crewmates, but beware – there could be Impostors on board. Or maybe… you’re the Impostor?! There’s only one way to find out.” Additionally, Tran follows-up to reiterate on the announcement for the PlayStation versions specifically. In that, users on either PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 will received specialized Ratchet & Clank cosmetics. Cross-play is also confirmed for the versions. Since every platform that supports Among Us offers cross-platform play, it is likely the Xbox port will do the same. Are you excited to find imposters this December on console? From that, raytracing is expected following the game’s release. “Most excitingly though, we’re looking forward to working closely with AMD to bring raytracing to Halo Infinite,” Xbox Product Marketing ManagerNoah Benesch writes. “Raytracing is one our top development priorities post-launch and look forward to sharing more soon.” Once again, Microsoft is collaborating with Razer for more unique Halo products including mice and keyboards. But it does not stop there, the firms have worked closely to deliver in-sync chroma settings when playing the game in real-time. Also officially partnered with AMD, Halo Infinite is to also deliver AMD FreeSync natively as well. The team also revealed a special edition AMD RX 6900 XT graphics card. “The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is the fastest gaming graphics card AMD ever developed and is the perfect graphics card to celebrate the release of Halo Infinite. “The AMD RDNA 2 gaming architecture powering our Xbox Series X|S consoles is the same architecture powering the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Halo Infinite Limited Edition graphics card, designed to deliver powerhouse performance and incredibly high-fidelity visuals for 4K gaming.” Are you excited from the Halo Infinite PC video?
