Review: Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles

Developer – Cyberconnect2 Publisher – Sega Platforms – PC, Xbox Series| One, Playstation 5|4 Today we are taking a look at Cyberconnect2’s latest anime fighter, Demon Slayer. Based on the extremely popular anime. Demon Slayer, like the Naruto games before it is 3D arena tag fighting game. Their tag style is back and better than ever with all the usual tricks of the trade. Tags, combo breaks and tag assists, while keeping all the visual flair you would expect from one of their games. The other major hook outside of its gameplay design is the well done story mode. At the start of the game, you only have 2 characters, and after each chapter of the story, more characters and costumes will be unlocked. In a lot of ways this game feels like the Naruto Storm system was vastly overhauled.es, The varied roster, while not huge, offers a lot of variety in character styles and abilities. As somebody who isn’t a huge fan of any of the anime, it does a great job at selling it’s world and each characters unique skills and abilities. One of the major issues with Naruto titles, was the gameplay usually ended up making characters feel the same. That fear dissipates shortly after playing Demon Slayer because each character feels pretty unique. A simplified control scheme with some standardized inputs and auto combo’s are deceiving. The game has a lot of depth and the characters are all pretty nuanced. Tag mechanics and insanely flashy ultimate techniques are all jaw dropping. The game also has a decent story mode that tries it’s best to conjure up some insane reason for all of these characters to come together, well done training modes and well done netcode all add up to a stellar package. As somebody who wasn’t a fan of this anime before, this game has increased my interest and has me curious to go back and comitt to watching the show in it’s entirety. It runs great and performs well, as long as you don’t mind the 30fps. A patch will come soon and unlock 60fps for next gen consoles and PC soon. At this point, more free characters are also going to be added to the game to add much needed depth to the roster. If you are a fan of fighting games and are getting a tad bored with your current favorite, make sure to give Demon Slayer a look. It plays great, has a ton of unique characters and has something for casual and hardcore fans alike.

While streaming is not a brand new tool on for Xbox, it is still a mechanic that is still aging for the platform. Already, players have access to xCloud which allows users to run the majority of Xbox Game Pass titles on the cloud-based platform via mobile devices and now browser. Additionally, users also have the option now to use the Xbox app on PC as well more recently. Elsewhere though, players on console are slowly finding access to streaming as well on console. In that, the firm promised full support for Xbox by the end of this year. Atop of that, users can technically access the feature via Microsoft Edge. In September the firm welcomed the new Chromium version of the browser which enabled clients like xCloud & Google Stadia as well. Oddly enough, Nvidia GeForce Now was not accessible as found by The Verge. But that appeared to only be temporary according to the outlet’s Senior Editor Tom Warren. On Twitter, he uploads a video of the service now running via Microsoft Edge Chromium on console which you can view below: Most interesting is that not entirely everything is accessible – which comes to be less surprising under full context. While Nvidia GeForce Now opens its doors to PC games even included in your Steam library, some properties are not available still. Among what is, Warren finds that Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Death Stranding is not playable via the service on Xbox. As noted by Warren previously, you can use keyboard & mouse inputs on console through Microsoft Edge to maintain the native feel of PC as well. Now, the only sore thumb that remains to be sticking out for Microsoft Edge Chromium is the ability to fully use Discord on Xbox at the moment. Are you planning to use Nvidia GeForce Now via Microsoft Edge Chromium on Xbox?
CD Projekt Red Acquires Drake Hollow Developer The Molasses Flood

In the current state of things for CD Projekt Red, the game studio is continuing to work on its recent release, Cyberpunk 2077. Alongside that, the developer is occupied with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt once more. Atop of the promise to deliver a native version of its December release for Xbox Series systems and PlayStation 5, the same is also in its playbook for the team’s 2015 project as well. Previously, CD Projekt Red told that the releases for both “next-generation” versions are aimed to still be out by this year. However, doubt is casted over both projects namely due to the scale of both games for the two to release virtually at the same time. It was this past week that CD Projekt Red verified 2022 is the new release window for the two titles. From the Polish firm once more, CD Projekt Red announces another acquisition for its group of game studios. In that, developer The Molasses Flood is the next team to join the company’s internal network of studios. From the inception of The Molasses Flood, it was our goal to create games that touch and inspire people. When CD Projekt approached us about the possibility of working together, we saw an incredible opportunity to reach a much wider audience through a collaboration with a company we love, creating games in worlds we love. We could not be more excited to continue our mission with the support of CD Projekt and their incredibly talented team. Forrest Dowling, The Molasses Flood Studio Head CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński adds, “We’re always on the lookout for teams who make games with heart. The Molasses Flood share our passion for video game development, they’re experienced, quality-oriented, and have great technological insight. I’m convinced they will bring a lot of talent and determination to the Group.” Most reassuringly about the purchase is the CD Projekt Red promises to keep the state of development for The Molasses Flood intact. So the Drake Hollow developer can continue its creative work while also “working in close cooperation with CD Projekt Red” on top of its own projects already in the creative pipeline. Earlier in 2021, CD Projekt Red acquired another North America-based developer, Digital Scapes. The team stood to be a support team for CD Projekt Red and the firm renamed the game studio to CD Projekt Red Vancouver. You can read the full report by heading here. Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5 Versions For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt & Cyberpunk 2077 Pushed To 2022 Release Schedule

Although the state of Cyberpunk 2077 initially launched to potentially devastate the integrity of the release and trust in CD Projekt Red, the Polish developer following its release went head-on with the complaints and made a roadmap for fixes coming to the game at the time. Additionally, the developer noted that there will be a next-generation version for the title planned to ship in fall 2021 later on. As time continued onward, the game studio went on to press a similar enhanced version of the game is scheduled to arrive for 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as well. So while the team relinquishes plans for a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077, the developer stacks on a separate project instead for its most successful release instead. In a later earnings call for CD Projekt Red, the team presses the two games are aimed for late 2021. However, there is some uncertainty as to if these projects are still capable of releasing in 2021 at all. In a new statement from CD Projekt Red, the team is still working to deliver its promise, but, that will not happen this year. Instead we are to expect sightings of these games as early as spring 2022 now. “CD Projekt S.A. wishes to provide an update regarding its publication schedule for 2021 as concerns the release of dedicated versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for next-gen consoles,” the team writes in the press release then. “The Management Board of the Company hereby announces that, based on recommendations supplied by persons supervising development, it has decided to allocate additional time to both projects. “The Company currently intends to release the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 in the first quarter of 2022, and the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the second quarter of 2022.” So although expectations were to be met for this year on both, the developer decided to divide the work into more spaced out launch windows for each version respectively. Previously, CD Projekt Red pressed on the newer version for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. For that to be the Complete Edition of the game, the game studio shared to be adding more content. In that, add-on DLC based off the titular Netflix TV series is also to be delivered upon release. You can read the full report by heading here.
