Partly due to the long wait for Hardsuit Labs to release Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, it is just accustomed to stay patient for the long-anticipated sequel. Agreeably, the Seattle-based game studio is taking the helm more than a decade following the release from Troika Games released the titular predecessor, so there is a lot to meet expectation of waiting fans.

Last year with the announcement of the next-generation version for Xbox Series X & PlayStation 5, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was projected to arrive by holiday 2020. However, that release window only framed to be overly ambitious for the development team. That following August, Hardsuit Labs issued a delay with the title expected to arrive sometime in 2021.

Even more now, it seems that an additional year is still not enough time. This time from the mouth of its publisher, Paradox Interactive, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is coming out in 2022 now. Additionally, Hardsuit Labs is not leading development for the game moving forward.

We have now chosen to postpone the release of the game [Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2] further, and we will not be launching the game in 2021. We have also decided that Hardsuit Labs will no longer be leading the development of Bloodlines 2, and we have started a collaboration with a new studio partner to finish work on the game. This has been a difficult decision, but we are convinced that it is the right way forward to do the game justice.

“We have made the hard decision that Hardsuit Labs will no longer be leading the development of Bloodlines 2 – which also means that we will not be releasing in 2021 as previously planned,” a separate blog post on the issue reads. “Since we cannot at this time communicate a new release date, we’ve also decided to stop accepting pre-orders for the time being.”

Outside of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, there are multiple other entries arriving later in 2021 that is based in the same universe. For starters, Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is said to arrive this year for most systems. Unlike Bloodlines 2, Swansong follows the same direction set in Boston, Massachusetts.

Moreover, Vampire: The Masquerade is also tackling the battle royale genre as well. In development by Sharkmob, former IO Interactive & Massive Entertainment developers make up the staff at the new studio. You can read the full report by heading here.
