CD PROJEKT RED Announces New Witcher Saga

Today, CD PROJEKT RED have announced that they are working on a brand new Witcher Saga. The teaser image for the new game features a medallion, accompanied by the phrase A New Saga Begins. Beyond this initial confirmation of a new saga in The Witcher franchise, no further details including a release date have been released. CD PROJEKT RED also announced that they will be moving to Unreal Engine 5 as part of the multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. Since The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, released in 2011, CD PROJEKT RED has used their proprietary RED engine technology to build their games. This new relationship with Epic covers not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant. Developers from CD PROJEKT RED will collaborate with those from Epic with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences, beginning with the development of the next game in The Witcher franchise. Despite the struggles with Cyberpunk 2077 and its initial launch we expect the next Witcher title to be another master piece. Come this June will be the annual fun fair of major publishers and franchises with the “E3 month” delivering new content in terms of announcements & release dates for upcoming titles. However, 2022 is left in obscurity as to what will happen with the titular E3 as organizers Electronic Software Association already pulled admission for an in-person show this year. While discussion for an online show is still said to take place this June, Electronic Arts is apparently pulling its own show as well. Yes, EA Play Live will not be held this summer. When speaking to IGN, the firm explained that announcements are to release respectively, but not compiled under one major show this year. “We love EA Play Live as it’s our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren’t lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!” the statement from an Electronic Arts spokesperson reads. Understanding Electronic Arts lineup this year will be enticing to say the least. For one, Respawn Entertainment is expected to ship the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Additionally, the firm is also said to be involved on two other Star Wars games alongside the confirmation on the upcoming follow-up in a previous press release. As for EA Sports, annual entries like Madden NFL & NHL is on the way. But, FIFA is expected to come in a new coat of paint as it was reported the firm is dropping its iconic name. Atop of that, the return of PGA Tour is also slated to ship this year which entails an announcement will drop in the coming months. You can read the full report by heading here. Apex Legends Game Director Reiterates On The Battle Royale Being An Extension Of The Titanfall Universe, Chances For A New Game Is Still Possible

When Apex Legends arrived more than three years ago back in 2019, it was a breath of new life for fans of the previous Titanfall 2 which hit store shelves prior in 2016. The online experienced branched from the core storyline set within Titanfall and would proceed to carry the plot forward. But now fans are concerned about the impact Apex Legends made on the chances of a new Titanfall game. Enough so that the developer even responded to the questions spinning online. “Titanfall is the core of our DNA,” the team wrote in a tweet back in September. But, nothing arose from the initial statement then which leaves fans uncertain on where the series is heading still. Especially with how Apex Legends was slowly turning into in Season 11 only fueled those cautious ideals. When speaking to The Loadout, Apex Legends game director Steven Ferreira expanded on the impact of the IP reassuring that the battle royale remains as an expansion on the source material and rather not a substitute for what was. Apex has always been an expansion and evolution of the Titanfall universe, so it makes sense that they are both still very much part of that same universe. The core gameplay mechanics, locations, and story are all intertwined and share the same DNA, so as a team it’s natural that we think of them as very much one and the same. “As a team, we’re passionate about each of these types of gameplay experiences and are excited about the new ones we’re working on.” He continues. “Could we see a return to some of those experiences from Titanfall, Titanfall 2, or all together new ones that continue to expand the universe even further? Of course. But right now, we’re very excited and focused on our ideas for continuing to push and innovate the Apex experience.” Unto what Respawn Entertainment is occupied with does give some perspective as to what the team will be working on until more is unveiled for the team. Apex Legends is one priority – especially for Electronic Arts – the game is to remain a core project through the second division based in Vancouver, Canada. Job listings even suggests a new IP is also in the pipeline as well. But most evident for core Respawn Entertainment is the team’s involvement with Lucasfilms Games. Previously, it was announced that the Redwood City studio is to be working on three Star Wars games including a new first-person shooter and the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
