CD Projekt Red taking over The Witcher 3’s current-gen update and delays it indefinitely
If you have been waiting forever to play The Witcher 3 in its best form on Xbox Series X|S or on PS5, you just gotta wait a little longer….again. The company responsible to bring CD Projekt Red’s game to current-gen was Saber Interactive, most known for helping studios port their games to Nintendo Switch and as well as helping 343 Industries in The Master Chief Collection back in 2014 and 2020 for the PC version. CDPR sent a press release via Twitter announcing they would be taking over the remaining development for the current-gen console. Here’s what they had to say: We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. We’ll update you as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding. It’s a very sad news day for Witcher fans, hoping they would (re)play the “beefed” up version on their most recent console. We hope a new date is announced as soon as possible.
Fueled Up is Overcooked Meets Space Octopus, Releases This Year
Fireline Games announced today that their upcoming co-op title Fueled Up will release later this year. The game, which is like Overcooked if it was set in space, sees 1 to 4 players compete local or online against a dreaded space octopus. Instead of cooking, however, Fueled up sees players race to repair a space ship before the space octopus can bring it down. We’ll need to watch out, though, as additional dangers such as asteroids and worm holes will try to take us out as well. We will have to fix holes in the ship, put out fires and of course the ship fueled up in order to prevail. In addition to online and local co-op, Fueled Up allows single player action along with level specific challenges for a harder experience. Even if you only have one controller, two players are still able to share in order to team up as well. Fueled Up will release later this year on PC, PS4 and Xbox One
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Shows More Gameplay in 1st Behind The Scenes Video
Tribute Games and Dotemu have given us a new look at the development of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge today. In the first behind the scenes video, Cyrille Imbert (Dotemu) and Jean-Francois Major (Tribute) speak about their collaboration and how the project came to be. After creating various successful games with the talents of Tribute Games (among other studios), Major partnered with Dotemu to secure the rights for a video game adaptation featuring the timeless design of the ninja turtles of 1987. Major commented that “Contributing to a universe as legendary as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an incredible opportunity on every level, but even after completing a TMNT project years ago, I’ve always had hope of creating an experience set in the era that amazed me so much as a child. We finally found a partner who shares Tribute Games’ passion for ninja turtles. Having the opportunity to continue the legacy of the classic TMNT beat’em all that fans around the world grew up with is surreal.” There is still no concrete release date yet, but Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge will launch later this year on PC, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. The game will also be on display at PAX East later this month. Take a look at the video below, which includes all new gameplay and Splinter dropping a 62 hit combo!. Get ready 80’s kids.
Top 7 Worlds That Need to Be in Kingdom Hearts 4
As soon as I saw that Square Enix announced Kingdom Hearts 4 this past weekend, I started thinking about all of the worlds I wanted the game to include. I did the same thing back in June of 2015 for Kingdom Hearts 3. Some of them, such as Big Hero 6 (world) and Wreck it Ralph ( Summon) came true. Others, unfortunately, did not. That’s where we will pick up today. Of course, we do have a lot of time. After all, the original Kingdom Hearts was released in 2002 with the sequel in 2005. Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced in 2013 but not released for 6 years until 2019. Hopefully, we get Kingdom Hearts 4 before that much of a delay, but my money is on a late 2025 release. Let’s take a look at some of the top worlds that need to be included in Kingdom Hearts 4. BRAVE Brave was my top choice for Kingdom Hearts 3. In fact, I wanted to see Brave in the game more than I wanted Frozen to NOT be in it. Needless to say, I was disappointed to say the least when it was not included and Frozen was basically the focal point of the game. The 13th Pixar film released in 2012 and features a brilliant story line. It’s one of the best and most well-rounded Disney films with a strong protoganist, supporting characters, villain and lush, open world. Princess Merida trying to free her mother from Mor’du’s curse has a great tie in with how Kingdom Hearts tends to envelop villains and story lines. The strong cast of supporting characters with her three brothers, father King Fergus and more make for a great, playable world. The new art style that Square Enix has opted to go with would absolutely flourish in the scenic landscapes of Scotland, and I can’t wait to play through it. ATLANTIS This was another one I wrote about for Kingdom Hearts 3. Originally releasing in 2001, Atlantis remains one of the more criminally underrated Disney films. The art style alone in the film was so ahead of its time. How Milo and the rest of the characters appeared 3D within a 2D environment was a huge feat when it released. The heartless take on the form of whatever location they are in, which is why it looked so “real” in the Kingdom Hearts 4 reveal trailer. Seeing the heartless fly around the world of Atlantis with its advanced technology combined with the realistic effect of present day would be an amazing thing to see. Also, if I’m being completely honest, I really want to hear Michael J. Fox again. STAR WARS / THE MANDALORIAN It does, but I’ll say it anyway. Is there really anyway that Disney DOESN’T put the most marketable character from the most iconic franchise of all time in the game? When Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced in 2013, we were still two and a half years away from Episode VII The Force Awakens hitting theaters, so it wasn’t possible. Now that all three sequel films (Last Jedi doesn’t count) have been released along with a number of spin-offs, there really is no excuse not to include them in the game. I want to see the Mandalorian franchise only because I think baby Yoda and Din Djarin would make an excellent pairing with Sora. Imagine Sora commanding a sand speeder while Mando takes out targets with baby Yoda laughing riding shotgun? The truth is it doesn’t matter what story in Star Wars the game takes on as they are all successful, but baby Yoda would surely be the most popular. But Disney, please, just no Jawas or Ewoks, ok? I see Endor was in the reveal trailer, but I’d like a new, less played out location please. Perhaps, one with a floating baby green alien that loves to eat frogs? Thank you in advance MARVEL On the success of Spider-man: No Way Home, Square Enix and Disney would be fools not to include the MCU within Kingdom Hearts 4. Just like Star Wars, the Marvel Universe has never appeared in the Kingdom Hearts series. Plus, the story does kind of write itself. The MCU has gone all in on the multiverse with Spider-Man and Dr. Strange. It would be sooooo easy to bring the MCU and Spider-Man in with how the worlds are thrown together in the game anyway, plus it would blend well with the cheeky humor that the Kingdom Hearts franchise is known for. In addition, how Amazing (pun intended) would it be to see Sora swing around with some Spidey webs? You don’t have to answer. It’s ok, we know. PERCY JACKSON Now would be a perfect time to include Percy Jackson into a Kingdom Hearts game. The original movie for Disney released back in 2010, and they just announced that the upcoming TV series has found its actor with the Adam Project’s Walker Scobell. The location fits perfectly with the more realistic setting that Square Enix has opted for, and there are many available options for the story to blend with the game. After all, Percy finds out he’s a god and sets off to solve a battle between other gods. That’s Kingdom Hearts without saying it’s Kingdom Hearts. There is also the love story / rescue with Annabeth they could tie into its story for the game as well. Lightning blasting around a city with Sora riding a bolt of it on his way to take out a heartless? Sign me up. AVATAR James Cameron’s Avatar film released 13 years ago in 2009. With sequels on the way (Don’t hold your breath), Avatar would be a great candidate to take advantage of the new direction Kingdom Hearts is taking. The isle of Pandora would absolutely look amazing with Sora flying through the air on an Ikran. After all, the story of the movie is about people invading another world in order to steal its resources. That
No Man’s Sky Latest Outlaws Update Welcomes Improved Space Combat, Bounty Missions, And More
Dabbling into the ongoing stretch of content arriving to No Man’s Sky, developer Hello Games continues to drone to a fine tune when delivering new updates to its ongoing title. For 2022 alone, fans witnessed the welcoming of February introduced the Sentinels Update which included new mechanized warmachines to the game alongside a complete overhaul to the weapon system sewed into the core gameplay as well. After years anticipating the game would hit Nintendo’s latest flagship console, the game is slated to arrive later this year. In that, the new Outlaws Update puts the law into its own hands bringing players to outer space battles and bounty hunting for rich rewards. System authority has been surrendered to rebel forces, leaving space unpoliced and ripe for piracy. “As well having no Sentinel interceptors, outlaw systems have their own technology merchants, their own marketplace for contraband items, their own unique mission agents, and much more…” Smuggling is a new pastime for those in search for a new income which promises high payout for those itching from their bad side. Now Sony & Nintendo Rework Its Subscription Guidelines For Service Users In The U.K. For Transparent Auto-Renewal Initiative
As many can recall from the past couple of months, Microsoft has been leading as a star example for how to implement successful turnout on user services with its Xbox division. Namely Xbox Game Pass, the subscription has proven to be a leader in the growing competitions with more than 60 percent of North America using the service. Even more, the firm also added more flexible options in the U.K. for additional transparency with the consumer. Elsewhere, we witnessed Nintendo & Sony Interactive Entertainment take a jab on the matter. In fall, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack released implementing a new tier for $49.99 offering Nintendo 64 & Sega Genesis virtual libraries alongside bundled DLC expansions for select titles. Additionally, Sony showcased its new tier options coming to its platform in June which bridges PlayStation Plus & PlayStation Now into one. This week, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) reveals both Nintendo & Sony are following the same path as Microsoft to deliver transparency for its users subscribed to the respected services. Namely, the initiative is for inactive subscribers and those that still pay for PlayStation Plus or Nintendo Switch Online while not in use. As a result of our investigations, a number of changes have been made across this sector to protect customers and help tackle concerns about auto-renewing subscriptions. Today’s announcement therefore concludes our investigations into the online video gaming sector. Companies in other sectors which offer subscriptions that auto-renew should review their practices to ensure they comply with consumer protection law. Michael Grenfall, U.K. Competition and Markets Authority Executive Director of Enforcement “The CMA has an secured an undertaking from Sony relating to its PlayStation Plus product, a service which allows users to play online together. In particular, Sony has agreed to put in place measures to protect customers who haven’t used their memberships for a long time but are still paying. Sony will contact these customers to remind them how to stop payments and, if they continue not to use their memberships, Sony will ultimately stop taking further payments,” the press release reveals. “The CMA also engaged with Nintendo, which changed its business practices during the course of the investigation so that Nintendo Switch Online Service is no longer sold with automatic renewal set as the default option. This means people will not be automatically entering into renewing contracts, addressing a number of the CMA’s concerns about people becoming locked in.” Are you in support of the push from Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony for its services? Arrival Is The Next Free DLC Released For Re-Releases Of Doom & Doom II, Out Now
While many developers and publishers upon releasing legacy games tend to be a “one-and-done” situation, Bethesda & id Software are doing more with the re-releases of its decades-old releases. In the past, we witnessed this with Quake. Back in December the game received a new update integrating a full-on horde mode to the game. Rewinding back to 2020, Bethesda offered the same affection to Doom & Doom II then. Specifically, the original expansion SIGIL for the respected 1993 & 1994 titles was added which included a fresh 60Hz update for the game as well. Now more recently the campaign for additional DLC is continuing for those titles as well. In that, the re-releases of Doom & Doom II welcome Arrival: a community-created, 11-level free add-on for both games. “A new Add-On has, well, arrived in the form of Arrival – an 11-level episode replacement pack created by Pavera, featuring music by DOOM community alum AD_79 as well as collaborated elements with multiple other notable names in the modding scene!” the description for the DLC shares. “My primary inspiration for Arrival was simply, create an episode of high-quality DOOM II maps with a loosely connected theme, using only stock resources. I’ve been creating DOOM maps for over a decade but until last year I had never released a full project of my own. I’m very comfortable with DOOM’s stock resource set and I partially wanted to prove that they still had a lot of untapped potential,” development lead Pavera explains. “Of course, I ended up veering slightly away from that goal with the addition of Mechadon’s skies, but I feel I was able to deliver most of the way. The overarching theme of Arrival is meant to be a bit cryptic and up to interpretation. I wanted to explore the idea that the “Doomguy” is an introspective character. After spending an eternity entering dimension after dimension (WAD after WAD), what is his ultimate purpose? Where does he find his peace? Is he fated to spend another eternity in violence or will he arrive at his final resting place?” Are you planning to jump into Arrival? Arrival is available for Doom & Doom II on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Source: Bethesda, (1)
Certain Affinity Confirms Work For Halo Infinite To “Further Evolving” The Game
Entrusting what the future for Halo Infinite is to become entering Season 2, 343 Industries painted out some additions arriving to the title for next month. In that, there are two new arena maps and one new Big Team Battle map. Additionally, there are two other game modes to be added as well moving forward. However, the promised co-op campaign is still underway in a later update for Season 2, the team confirmed. But looking ahead, there is more to be excited for. One thing is that add-ons related to the Halo Television Series is underway. Halo Community Director Brian Jarrard told The Washington Post this will segue to bridging the two universes overtime. Elsewhere in one report, Certain Affinity was said to be involved in a new PvPvE mode codenamed ‘Project Tatanka’ for Halo Infinite. In a new statement this week, the developer verifies its continued involvement with the Halo IP and its latest efforts for Halo Infinite specifically. Speculating what the team could be working on its speculated to be a Halo Infinite successor to Warzone. No, not the Call of Duty mode. From Halo 5, Warzone was a large-scale battle arena separate from Big Team Battle that worked in PvE mechanics as well. The larger hypothesis from many fans would be the introduction to battle royale, but, there has yet to be any evidence suggesting such currently. Recently, 343 Industries pressed on one new initiative slated for Halo Infinite: Career Progression. Like most multiplayer games and the releases ahead of Halo Infinite, this latest title does not have an overarching level system. But it is in the works! It is plausible the team at Certain Affinity is also involved in that project as well. Elsewhere Certain Affinity is also told to be working on a separate Xbox Game Studios project as well. In that, the firm was said by GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb to be involved in a Monster Hunter-like project which went on to be dubbed ‘Project Suerte’. You can read the full report by heading here. Are you excited for Certain Affinity’s involvement in Halo Infinite? Halo Infinite is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Robot RPG Steel Rising Delayed A Few Months, New Gameplay Released
It looks like we got some good news and bad news today, as action RPG Steel Rising was delayed a few months. Developer Spiders made the announcement earlier this morning on Twitter, but with it came a new gameplay trailer for us to enjoy. Steel Rising has a lot of people excited (myself included) after Spiders released Greedfall. Steel Rising follows some of the same concepts of combining two genres that are generally not seen together. While Greedfall saw magic and monsters in colonial times, Steel Rising gives us robots in France.. It takes place in Paris during the French Revolution where we play as Aegis, Marie Antoinette’s robot body guard. The gameplay trailer (by way of Game Informer) is narrated by the game’s developers and provides an in-depth look ahead of the game’s launch. Our armor acts as an extension of our robot body. Different paths will be available depending on what armor we choose. Steel fans for arms may let us cut right through enemies, while a grapple hook can let us avoid a fight entirely. There will be plenty of armor for us to sift through, along with Spiders’ bread and butter of a highly detailed combat system. We will also be able to explore Paris and its surroundings at our leisure. Should a boss fight have you out-leveled, we can choose to explore and return when Aegis has leveled up. Steel Rising will now release on June 8 on Series S/X and PS5 along with PC
