Doom & Doom II Welcomes New DLC Add-Ons From QuakeCon Announcement, Out Now

For what most players expect, developer id Software delivered on its two-part story expansion for Doom Eternal. “The lore, locations and fights were blistering and fast paced, and both parts together creates a compelling and tightly paced follow-up to a great game. For any Doom fans, this expansion is a must play,” critic David Rodriguez wrote in our review for the DLCs at the time. Well, the firm has also been occupied collaborating on additional add-ons for the original re-releases of Doom as well believe it or not. It was just this past April in which both Doom & Doom II received free story DLC respectively. However, more was planned to release for both titles, but a release window was not provided then. In a new announcement from QuakeCon, more expansions arrive to Doom alongside Doom II with Revolution! and Rubicon 2 now available to install on all platforms. You can watch the release trailer in the video below: “We’re excited to drop not one, but two new additions to our Add-ons library today! As always, these Add-ons are available to download via the in-game Add-ons menu for each respective re-release, including DOOM(1993), DOOM II and Quake. Take on a massive demonic uprising in Revolution! for DOOM (1993) and DOOM II, or battle through massive single-player maps in Rubicon 2 for Quake!” Additionally, Bethesda at QuakeCon also announced five new games launching for PC Game Pass today. Which are The Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire, The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, Quake 4, Wolfenstein 3D, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. You can read the full report by heading here. Handful Of Bethesda Games Arrives To PC Game Pass Today As QuakeCon Kicks Off

When discerning one of Microsoft’s ambitions with the acquisition of Zenimax Media/Bethesda, it was a clear answer that the firm would use its available properties to fuel Xbox Game Pass. Upon the deal closing back in 2021, roughly two dozen titles were being prepared for the service then. Of course, that is only one list with more to be injected into the subscription library later on. Back at QuakeCon last year, Bethesda officially introduced the original Quake trilogy (Quake, Quake II, Quake Arenas). So of course, when the firm announced its scheduling for QuakeCon this year, we could expect a similar announcement then. This upcoming show is said to be the last before the event heads back to in-person at Austin, Texas in 2023. From Xbox Game Pass’ official Twitter account, there is a handful of games coming today to PC Game Pass. The list including The Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire, The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, Quake 4, Wolfenstein 3D, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Additionally, a new perk added has been added to PC Game Pass which unlocks all champions for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate owners in Quake Champions. Similarly, Microsoft announced a similar arrangement with Riot Games for League of Legends and Valorant which is said to arrive to members later on this fall. As for other Xbox Game Pass announcements, Microsoft announced another title that is launching for the service later this spring. Wishfully Studios shared Planet of Lana embraces the new release window to utilize the extra time and reimburses patient fans with the launch for Xbox Game Pass day one. Planet Of Lana Confirmed For Xbox Game Pass Day One Launch In Spring 2023

In the realm of things Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft continues to deliver on exciting releases for the service. Just this week, we got the new roundup for titles coming to the subscription library later this month. That includes Fenyx Immortals Rising alongside Midnight Fight Express & Opus: Echo of Starsong. But, that is only the tip of the iceberg apparently. According to the PC Game Pass Twitter account, it uploaded a cryptic image in one post alongside updating its profile picture as well. From users online, it did not take long to come to the conclusion on the game: Death Stranding. However, the title is a Sony Interactive Entertainment-published title unique for PC. But the takeaway is the PC version was instead published by 505 Games which could be the reasoning for this implication. On Wednesday, the Xbox firm alongside Wishfully Studios revealed that Planet of Lana will be arriving to the service come this spring in 2023. You can watch the Xbox Game Pass trailer in the video below: “We initially planned for Planet of Lana to launch this year, however as development has progressed throughout 2022, we realized that in order to meet our standards, we need a little more time to get Planet of Lana right and ensure it lives up to the vision we have presented for it so far,” says Wishfully Studios Creative Director Adam Stjärnljus. “We also think that we owe this to you, the players, not to compromise this experience just to meet a date. We think the extra few months wait will be worth it and we thank you for your patience and understanding. Delaying a game is never an easy call to make, but with all the support we have received thus far, we hope to make everyone happy when it launches. “On a brighter note, we are also extremely excited to finally announce that Planet of Lana will also be available day one with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, so anyone subscribed to those services or to Game Pass Ultimate will be able to play our off-earth odyssey as soon as it is ready.” Are you excited for Planet of Lana to launch? Sony Launches ‘PlayStation For PC’ Front On Its Website

Although Microsoft appears unwell with it insisting on bridging its platform with PC all last generation, Sony Interactive Entertainment is now following in its footsteps over the past year. Back in May a job posting went live for a Product Manager illustrating the firm’s ambitions to support the endeavor. Then in October a listing for ‘PlayStation PC’ also fueled this effort as well. Additionally, we witnessed the overcoming to the platform with a slew of exclusives coming to Steam. So far this year we witnessed God of War back in January hit the service. Then this week Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered arrived with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales coming in the fall. Not to mention a potential leak for more titles that surfaced elsewhere also. Discovered this week, the ‘PlayStation for PC’ front has went live on the official PlayStation website which previous reports signaled towards. The page goes on to showcase first-party releases alongside other third-party titles such as Predator: Hunting Grounds & Helldrivers. The FAQ on the website elaborates further on the state of things for PlayStation on PC. For one, games already owned on PlayStation will need to be re-purchased on PC, it confirms. “the PC and console versions of PlayStation Studios games are different products. It is currently not possible to purchase the PC version of a title and then play it on a PS4 or PS5 console, or vice versa.” A separate FAQ also verifies cross-save is not supported currently. “It is currently not possible to transfer your save data from the PS4 or PS5 version to the PC version of a PlayStation Studios title, or vice versa.” Atop of that, Trophies and Steam/Epic Games Store achievements do not sync with your PlayStation account. “PlayStation Studios titles include support for achievements on both Steam and Epic Games Store. They will not sync with your trophies list on your PSN profile.” Other titles underway for PC includes Housemarque’s Returnal. The game appeared in a cryptic listing via SteamDB earlier this year suggesting it could be close to arriving to the platform despite how recent the game hit PlayStation 5 last year. Embracer Group Acquires Tripwire Interactive, Limited Run Games, Middle-Earth Enterprises, And More

Over the past year, Embracer Group continues to make surprising acquisitions of recognized properties and publishers. Last August, the firm announced its purchase of 3D Realms alongside Ghost Ship Games, Slipgate Ironworks, and more. Additionally, Dark Horse Comics, Perfect World Entertainment, and other acquisitions were made the same time. However, the most surprising is the impressively cheap $300 million for Square Enix’s suite of western IPs including Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, and Square Enix Montreal. The arrangement would hand over Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Sleeping Dogs, and more franchises to the entertainment conglomerate. This week, a new announcement reveals another slew of purchases were made from Embracer Group. Now entities such as Bitwave Games, Gioteck, Limited Run Games, Middle-earth Enterprises, Singtrix, Tatsujin, Tripwire Interactive, and Tuxedo Labs were all bought out from the firm. The most surprising comes from Middle-earth Enterprises as it is the holder for the entire Lord of the Rings series (including the books). We at the Zaentz Company have had the honor over the past half century of stewarding the Tolkien rights so that Lord of the Rings and Hobbit fans worldwide could enjoy award winning epic films, challenging video games, first rate theatre and merchandise of every variety. We could not be more thrilled that it is Embracer now taking up the responsibility and we are confident their group will take it to new heights and dimensions while maintaining homage to the spirit of these great literary works. Marty Glick, The Saul Zaentz Company COO “As an avid collector, I’ve admired Limited Run’s collectors’ editions. They’ve built a strong brand that resonates with players. We see opportunities for Limited Run to further grow their business with the Carbon Engine by bringing back classic games, and extend their footprint geographically through synergies with other companies within Embracer Group,” Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefor shared for the Limited Run Games acquisition. Tripwire Interactive CEO Alan Wilson adds, “We’ve known Saber for a while now and are really excited about the opportunity to leverage everything they have to offer. Together we are going to be able to deliver more new Tripwire titles, more often than ever before, as well as ramp up the published titles. We look forward to creating a lot more great games that people will love to play.” Are you surprised with the announcements for the latest Embracer Group acquisitions?
