PlayStation Requirements To Favor Activision Acquisition By Microsoft Lists No Hardware Enhancements, Exclusive Content, Or Xbox Game Pass Benefits

For good reason, there is an understanding precedent when being concerned towards the Activision Blizzard acquisition by Microsoft. For roughly $70 billion, there is certainly something the Xbox firm has planned for this latest transaction. So far, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has indicated the desire hovers over the mobile gaming venture and PC games already established by the publisher. Of course, Xbox Game Pass is also a forefront pursuit. Spencer in a separate instance confirmed this by sharing his desire to make current IPs like Call of Duty even more popular whilst supporting new franchises like Starfield the same way. Not only that, the firm has confirmed more than once it would honor any marketing arrangements with other platforms. Even President Brad Smith verified that major series won’t break its multiplatform ties. According to the new CMA documentation provided in regards to the recent acquisition probe on Microsoft, there is one section that lists requirements from the PlayStation firm in which they allow the purchase to go through: Third-party views also covered the Merged Entity’s ability to engage in partial foreclosure strategies. SIE told the CMA that, even if CoD games remained available on PlayStation following the Merger, the Merged Entity would still be able to engage in partial foreclosure by increasing the differentiation between the versions of CoD available on Xbox and on PlayStation. According to SIE, gamers may expect that CoD on Xbox will include extra content and enhanced interoperability with the console hardware, in addition to any benefits from membership in XGP. SIE submitted that these factors are likely to influence gamers’ choice of console. Gathered from the document, the CMA states Sony Interactive Entertainment will bypass the purchase of Activision Blizzard under three circumstances. The first listing that there will be no unique content for published titles on Xbox that is not available on PlayStation as well. Second noting that there will be no enhancements on Xbox hardware which is not provided to PlayStation too. The third continues by phrasing that perks on Xbox Game Pass will not be permitted. Besides that, what Sony’s asking for is not much. Howbeit, these requirements are a hard pill to swallow for Microsoft if coining on following this path. But, some of what the PlayStation firm is listing has acted on these with marketing deals with Activision in the past. This includes unique content for Call of Duty which would remain for a year. Of course, there is also timed releases as well with one still active – GhostWire Tokyo. For Sony Interactive Entertainment to act on these then instruct Microsoft not to do this with its own properties if the transaction goes through is questionable to say the least. Meta Quest Pro Announced, Priced At $1,499 With October 25th Release

When Facebook’s acquisition of Oculus came to be, it was uncertain the direction the social media platform would bring the company. But years later, the platform is at the forefront of virtual reality. More impressively is the technology behind the now-titled Meta Quest 2. Previously priced at $299, it was questionable how the firm could price it so low. And now with an $100 price bump – the firm is not asking for a lot compared to how units were marked years ago. Of course, there will be new and better iterations to come following the Meta Quest 2. Currently, the accessibility for general consumers is no problem for the peripheral. But, the device is lacking compared to PC-bound units. You can still buy a Link cable to play other titles, but a capable PC is still required nonetheless. In a new announcement from Games at Connect 2022, Meta officially announced the Meta Quest Pro. The headset is releasing in just a couple weeks priced at $1,499. You can watch the announcement trailer in a video below: “Meta Quest Pro is the first entry in our new high-end line of devices, and it’s packed with innovative features like high-res sensors for robust mixed reality experiences, crisp LCD displays for sharp visuals, a completely new and sleeker design, plus eye tracking and Natural Facial Expressions to help your avatar reflect you more naturally in VR,” Meta writes in the blog post. “We believe VR devices will help usher in the next computing platform—becoming as ubiquitous as laptops and tablets are today—and that people will use them in their everyday lives to access the metaverse. With its cutting-edge technologies, Meta Quest Pro represents an important step toward that future. We designed it to expand the possibilities of both VR and mixed reality. And to do that, you need truly innovative hardware. “Meta Quest Pro is the first-ever device powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ platform, which is optimized for VR to run at 50% more power than Meta Quest 2 with better thermal dissipation, resulting in significantly better performance. Each Meta Quest Pro comes with 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and 10 high-res sensors (five inside the headset and five outside) that help enhance a variety of immersive experiences.” Are you excited for the Meta Quest Pro releasing? While the acquisition race continues to fuel chatter behind Xbox’x Microsoft and PlayStation’s Sony Interactive Entertainment, many should not forget the complete onslaught being performed by Facebook now-Meta. The firm for more than two years has continues on a campaign to continue purchasing talent strictly for virtual reality. The firm has even taken studios known for unique content. In that, then-Oculus bought up Ready at Dawn and Sanzaru Games – both of which made exclusive content for PlayStation. It’ll be a while before we can reveal what they’re working on, but we’re excited to continue working with and supporting these developers as they bring ambitious and forward-thinking games to VR. For better context, Camouflaj is yet another developer ranked in closely to the likes of Ready at Dawn and Sanzaru Games. Previously, the developer worked on Marvel’s Iron Man VR which released exclusively on PlayStation VR. Now, the game is said to be coming to the Meta Quest in the near future. Additionally, Armature Studios is most known for its efforts on the fall 2021 release Resident Evil 4 which came to the Meta Quest 2.
