Rainbow Six Siege To Fully Integrate Cross-Play, Cross-Progression Next Month

From its 2015 release, Rainbow Six Siege went from an underwhelming launch to becoming one of the most popular and highest-rewarding esports on the planet. And with the amount of improvements and updates that came to the game, Ubisoft has listened closely and plans to meet expectations for the game. Things such as cross-play for example. In a previous update that came in June 2021, cross-play/cross-progression both went live for users on PC, Stadia, and Luna. However, console players are left out of the equation at the time. But, that is not all considered from Ubisoft. According to a separate interview, the developer even shared interest in branching Rainbow Six Siege into a free-to-play release. According to the newest blog post on the game, Ubisoft Montreal plans to fully integrate cross-play/cross-progression next month with its newest Operator Solis. This comes along with a reworked ‘Ranked 2.0’ and enhanced anti-cheat & anti-toxicity system that will further improve the experience on the game’s servers. “Players on Xbox and PlayStation platforms will now matchmake together, join team chat together, and group up together. Players on PC and streaming platforms will remain in their own crossplay pool, separate from console players,” Ubisoft elaborates for cross-play. Cross-progression is worded to “unify your inventory of cosmetic items, in-game currency, and other items across all platforms.” Beyond the recent update slated for December 6th, Ubisoft is reaching beyond the traditional gaming platforms. In a previous announcement this past September, Rainbow Six Siege is entering the mobile market. At the time, the closed beta went live for select users to sample what the firm has so far for the game. You can read the full report by heading here. No to mention PlayStation 6 already being trademarked in the past. From the latest statements of the ongoing U.K. Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigation on the Microsoft acquisition for Activision Blizzard, new light has been casted on the discussion of new hardware. In that, Microsoft comments that the fall of 2028 is the next time a new console generation is on the way. “The Parties do not dispute that some portion of gamers are likely to re-assess their console ownership at the start of a new generation. But they also note that this is an event that only occurs approximately every eight years. Ineed the next new generation of consoles are not expected to be released before the fall of 2028 at the very earliest,” Microsoft writes in the statement. Additionally, the CMA also injected that “the impact of any foreclosure strategy on Sony may be particularly strong at the launch of the next generation of consoles, when both new and existing users decide which console to buy.” But for now, there is no concrete evidence on what these new system will eventually be – rather the concept is projected to release roughly six years from now.
