Bungie Reveals Last Chapter For Destiny 2 ‘The Final Shape’, Destiny Showcase Coming August 22

Earlier this year, Bungie officially met the end of its three expansion roadmap with the release of Destiny 2: Lightfall. And with the newest installment, it was no surprise the amount of traction that came to the game. It was soon discovered that Lightfall welcomed a new record high player count for Destiny 2 on Steam earlier on this year. Looking ahead, Bungie is still adamant to support Destiny 2. This week, Season of the Deep launched adding new PlayStation cosmetics from PlayStations Studios titles and a fishing mechanic. Additionally, transmedia is piecing together well with a former Warner Bros. Discovery executive part of the operation now, LinkedIn revealed. At the PlayStation Showcase on Wednesday, Bungie revealed its last major expansion on the way for Destiny 2: The Final Shape. Elsewhere during the PlayStation Showcase, Bungie also revealed Marathon. One More Level Reveals Ghostrunner II, Aiming For 2023 Release

One More Level on the map was Ghostrunner. Following the success of the first game, it was soon revealed that the team was acquired by its publisher 505 Games. As part of the new addition to its parent company, a sequel for Ghostrunner was now part of the plan. Since then, One More Level continued to support the original game. In that, a native update for Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5 added next-gen enhancements including 120hz support. Additionally, add-on Project_Hel was also released offering a story outside of the protagonist of the main game. Now at the Wednesday PlayStation Showcase, One More Level & 505 Games officially revealed Ghostrunner II. The game’s story takes place one year after the events of the first game. The people of Dharma Tower are rebuilding, commerce begins to flow, and there is hope for the future. Jack can interact with NPCs that are his friends from the Climbers faction. Plus, there is now a central HQ base of operations where Jack can take a break from missions. “With enhanced gameplay mechanics, more levels to explore, and epic boss fights, Ghostrunner 2 promises to be an exciting and thrilling adventure. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will release Fall 2023

Insomniac Games closed the PlayStation Showcase on May 24 after a news filled show that had brand new game announcements, updates and more. The most anticipated game prior to the show starting was Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which Insomniac has been working on. The gameplay features Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales and it’s their goal to try to stop Kraven’s Hunters. The gameplay shown was about 11 minutes long and it reveals that Spider-Man 2 will be releasing exclusively to PlayStation 5 this Fall. Insomniac Games and Sony didn’t reveal much other details besides the fact Spider-Man 2 is coming out Autumn 2023, but we should expect to see official pricing and an actual release date in the coming weeks or even months. Konami Announces Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, Gets Autumn Release Window

In recent years, Konami despite sitting on its treasure trove of legacy properties has not done much in offering a new mainline entry – that being for Silent Hill, Castlevania, or Metal Gear. However, the firm is adamant of retro collections for resale. In that, we’ve seen the Konami Anniversary Collection: three bundles for legacy arcade games alongside the classic Castlevania, and Contra titles. Additionally, the firm went even further with the Castlevania Advanced Collection later on bringing the beloved Game Boy Advanced titles to new systems. The most recent being the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection which launched earlier on in 2022. And now with the announcement for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a new collection is enroute for this year. Following the reveal for the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake was a hinting towards a trilogy collection for the first three Metal Gear Solid titles. Under the guise of ‘Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1’, it includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. “We will deliver the ‘Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection series, the most complete compilation that celebrates the 35th anniversary of the series. The ‘Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection allow fans to play the games as they were, as first released on the latest platforms,” Konami writes in the letterhead to its fans via Twitter. What is suggested from the titling for ‘Vol. 1’ is that more collections are on the way. As many fans are aware, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive. And with that comes limited backwards compatibility for the platform as the game cannot reach newer hardware. A previous report shared reasoning was that Xbox 360 was not part of the vision entirely. Konami Announces Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

One ongoing development comes from Konami in terms of its legacy properties. Decades later, fans are still talking about Metal Gear & Silent Hill hoping the publisher is listening to create more original titles or adapt for new hardware. Already, one title underway is Silent Hill 2. With Bloober Team at the helm, the Layers of Fear developer is working on a definitive reimagining for PlayStation 5. Additionally, reports of a remake for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is being tossed around. One report told the game is planned to ship as a PlayStation exclusive. But a separate source shares that the game is now aimed to hit Xbox as well as PlayStation. Regardless, it is understood an announcement is imminent as we’ve learned earlier on in 2023. At the PlayStation Showcase, Konami unveiled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Splatoon-inspired Foamstars Revealed For PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5

So far from the Wednesday-hosted PlayStation Showcase, there are plenty of announcements to keep players engaged on the PlayStation side of things. For starters, Haven Entertainment Studios unveiled its first title, Fairgame$: a competitive heist shooter. Additionally, Alan Wake II also stepped into the spotlight with an October release date later this fall. Adding on is the announcement of Marathon: the original 1994 Bungie IP is returning in a new extraction PvP experience aimed for all major platforms. Even Ubisoft was there revealing its newest Assassin’s Creed Mirage as it releases on October 12th later in the year. So what else is under the sleeve of the PlayStation firm? Well, Square Enix in a surprise revealed shared its new Splatoon-inspired IP Foamstars. Assassin’s Creed Mirage To Ship This October New Gameplay Trailer Shares

When exploring what avenues Ubisoft has planned next for the Assassin’s Creed series, Baghdad is the next setting for the mainline series. Back in September, the publisher celebrating the 15th anniversary of the franchise unveiled a prequel to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was in the works to follow character Basim. Even more, the new entry will follow closely to the social stealth rules of the original installments as a full circle installment. Recently Ubisoft shared new efforts to increase its talent for Assassin’s Creed as its pull so far this generation has been off to a weak start. And with more on the way, it was expected that the upcoming Ubisoft Forward would illustrate its game plan for Assassin’s Creed and more. That includes an official release date for the 2023-aimed Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Well, Ubisoft at the recent PlayStation Showcase shared a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage and that includes the launch date for the game coming this October. Bungie Reveals Return For Marathon In New Multiplatform, PvP Extraction Title

Amongst the titan status Bungie is has been recognized for shipping titles such as Halo and its active development on Destiny 2, fans are interested on what plans are ahead now that the team is a PlayStation Studios developer. So far, it has been clear that the consensus for Bungie at PlayStation is to establish the firm’s live-service/multiplatform venture. Regarding what the game studio is working on remains a mystery. Back in 2018, the Destiny developer did file a trademark for ‘Matter’ which could hint to a new IP. Additionally, the team did press that is aims to grasp competitive esports more with its next title underway. So far, the most Bungie has produced on behalf of its new owner is a slew of in-game cosmetics which release this week on Destiny 2. Alan Wake II Receives October 17 Release Date In New Trailer

Over at Remedy Entertainment, the Finnish game studio remains with a full plate as more projects pile up. Already, the developer confirmed that remakes for Max Payne & Max Payne 2: The Fall for Max Payne was in development. Additionally, a second entry for Control was also underway. But it was announced over a year ago that Alan Wake II was officially on the way. More recently, we’ve witnessed concept art for the decade-long wait sequel to give an idea of the tone the follow-up will offer. In a separate statement, CEO Tero Virtala shared that the game is already in a playable state which is a good sign it releases this year as promised. And over the past week, reports told that Alan Wake II is aiming to ship in October this fall. At the recent PlayStation Showcase, Remedy Entertainment unveiled a first gameplay trailer and the October release date for the game. Haven Studios Reveals Competitive Heist Shooter Fairgame$

Although Sony Interactive Entertainment is packed to the teeth with creative talent for its first-party division, the list grew welcoming Haven Entertainment Studios. For that, formerly coming from Stadia Games & Entertainment Jade Raymond formed a new team to work on an original PlayStation IP. Swiftly after, the team was acquired to be a PlayStation Studios developer. And while the team grew, Raymond continued to recruit more from her previous work with a handful of other Stadia employees grazing over to Haven Studios. Even her involvement at Ubisoft with Assassin’s Creed made an impact as art director Raphael Lacoste also joined the developer later on too. At the recent PlayStation Showcase on Wednesday, Haven Entertainment Studios & Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed the first title from new team, Fairgames$.
