We are going to share what we think are the best looking Xbox Wireless Controllers since 2013. #5 – 20th Anniversary Xbox Wireless Controller To kick this list off we are going with the 20th Anniversary Xbox Wireless Controller that released November 15, 2021 to celebrate twenty years of Xbox. The controller has a nice combination of black and green which resembles the original Xbox. What’s neat about this controller is the clear shell around it to see inside of the controller which you rarely see in Xbox controllers. The controller has Xbox green colored grips on the backside of the controller and uses black colored buttons. This Xbox Controller was very limited and the only way to acquire one of these is from a reseller. #4 – Gears of War Crimson Omen The Crimson Omen controller was a clear choice for this list. It was the third and final controller in the Gears of War set and the design was very similar to the Elite Variant. It features a red face plate covered with scratches and scars with the Gears of War logo. This controller was also one of the only Xbox One controllers to use a different font for the A,B,X, Y buttons. The release date for this Gears of War 4 themed controller was September 13, 2016 and was included with the Gears of War 4 Limited edition Xbox One S bundle. #3 – Halo 5: Guardians Master Chief You can’t have an Xbox list without including Master Chief. The Master Chief Xbox One controller is one of two Limited Edition controllers that released prior to the launch of Halo 5: Guardians. The release date was August 4, 2015 and this one is based off of the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor worn by Master Chief. It also featured a gold D-pad and triggers. #2 – Sea of Thieves The Sea of Thieves controller was one of the first Xbox One controllers to release in 2018. The design of this controller was something that we have never seen before. It features a purple/turquoise faceplate with the sea of thieves logo appearing in the center. Around the left thumbstick they put North, East, South and West to resemble a compass. What made this controller stand out more than any other was that it’s Glow-in-the-Dark. #1 – Titanfall Special Edition To top off the list we have one of the first ever special edition Xbox One controllers. The Titanfall Special Edition controller design is based off of the technology in Titanfall. This Xbox controller was planned to release with a matching console, but the special edition console was canceled. 343 industries adds classic Big Team Battle playlist to Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite received a playlist update that will have fans of Halo 3 thrilled. The Squad Battle playlist is classic Big Team Battle that was once standard in the Halo series. Instead of Halo Infinite’s 12v12 Big Team Battle mode, Squad Battle will be 8v8 and has a mix of Slayer and Object modes. The neat part about the Squad Battle playlist are the community maps that are remakes of Halo 3 Big Team Battle maps. The following remade maps are Valhalla, Rat’s Nest and Last Resort. With Halo Infinite’s forge mode it allows fans re-create maps from the Halo franchise and make them almost exact to what we remember. The Objective modes in the Squad Battle playlist are Capture The Flag, Slayer, King of the Hill, Total Control and One Flag CTF. It won’t stay long as 343 Industries stated this is a rotational playlist. Halo Infinite is currently in Season 4 which added Infection, Career Ranks, new maps and more items into forge.
Homelander might be coming to Mortal Kombat 1
Vought International Studios seemingly confirmed Homelander will be joining the Mortal Kombat 1 roster. This comes right after a collaboration from The Boys and Activision’s Call of Duty was announced. On a TikTok that was posted from Vought Studios there was a comment that possibly confirmed a new collaboration with Mortal Kombat. TikTok user, Silly goose commented “COD AND POSSIBLY MK???? WWWWW. A reply from Vought Studios says “MK confirmed”. If you go down the thread they also say “Homelander will be available at some point. That’s all we can say” With anything like this you always have to take it with a grain of salt however, being it’s the official TikTok account for Vought Studios it’s very possible. The Co-Creator of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon hasn’t responded to this comment and most likely won’t until it’s official. To give you a background of who this character is, The Homelander is one of the main antagonists of the comic book series and Television show, The Boys. The biggest fighting games tournament, EVO will be taking place August 4-5 this could be an event where this gets revealed. With Mortal Kombat 11 being one of the main games at EVO could it be possible we see a surprise announcement during Top 8 of the tournament? It wouldn’t be the first time we see that happen. Recently, NetherRealm shared Smoke and Rain will be joining the Mortal Kombat 1 roster when it releases September 19, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XlS, Nintendo Switch and PC. Microsoft wins FTC battle to purchase Activision Blizzard
Microsoft’s court battle against the US Federal Trade Commission has finally come to a close. California Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley denied the FTC request to block Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard deal which now makes the $68.7 billion acquisition more likely to happen. Here is what the Judge stated in the filing: “Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision has been described as the largest in tech history. It deserves scrutiny. That scrutiny has paid off: Microsoft has committed in writing, in public, and in court to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 10 years on parity with Xbox. It made an agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to Switch. And it entered several agreements to for the first time bring Activision’s content to several cloud gaming services. “This Court’s responsibility in this case is narrow. It is to decide if, notwithstanding these current circumstances, the merger should be halted—perhaps even terminated—pending resolution of the FTC administrative action. For the reasons explained, the Court finds the FTC has not shown a likelihood it will prevail on its claim this particular vertical merger in this specific industry may substantially lessen competition. To the contrary, the record evidence points to more consumer access to Call of Duty and other Activision content. The motion for a preliminary injunction is therefore DENIED.” Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer posted a statement on Twitter saying they’re grateful to the court for swiftly deciding in Microsoft’s favor. The evidence showed the Activision Blizzard deal is good for the industry and their goal is to make Activision Blizzard’s games available to more players than ever before. 2/Since we first announced this deal, our commitment to bringing more games to more people on more devices has only grown. We’ve signed multiple agreements to make Activision Blizzard’s games, Xbox first party games and Game Pass all available to more players than they are today. — Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) July 11, 2023 President of Microsoft, Brad Smith put out a statement: “We’re grateful to the Court in San Francisco for this quick and thorough decision and hope other jurisdictions will continue working towards a timely resolution. As we’ve demonstrated consistently throughout this process, we are committed to working creatively and collaboratively to address regulatory concerns.” This court battle is one to remember for Microsoft, it was an ongoing battle since December when the FTC announced a lawsuit to block the acquisition. The focus now shifts to the UK where Microsoft aims to modify the transaction in order to address the concerns that is acceptable to the CMA. When this Microsoft x Activision Blizzard acquisition closes it would mean Call of Duty will eventually come to the next Nintendo console. Source: The Verge
Square Enix Says Its Exploring ‘Various Ideas’ For More Legacy Remastered Titles After Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster
It is no secret that Square Enix is already operating on the next remake for the Final Fantasy VII series. Previously, the first entry shipped in 2020 became one of the most praised titles that year even for a Game of the Year nomination at The Game Awards then. Additionally, it confirmed 2024 is to welcome sequel Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and celebrates the game coming on two discs. Looking elsewhere, the firm also rolled out the entirety of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster previously. However, the game earned more traction recently when it launched this past April for Nintendo Switch & PlayStation 4. In terms of the response from its consumers, Square Enix considers this legacy series to be a success. When speaking at a recent shareholders Q&A, Square Enix addresses that it is exploring more opportunities for future remastered series of its older titles. Thank you, Video Game Chronicles. “Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster has been well received. Are there plans to remaster other past titles? Personally, I would like to play Xenogears,” the publisher was asked. “We will refrain from sharing information about new titles, but we are considering various ideas within the company and hope that you will look forward to forthcoming announcements.” posed from the shareholders question, it is understood more remastered beyond Final Fantasy could be on the table. Square Enix also answers on the “longer gaps between game releases than its peers do.” It responds stating: “I will refrain from speaking in specifics, but I will say that we believe that the strengthening of our internal development organization will be of benefit as the difficulty of developing major titles is becoming extremely high, which also has implications for development lead times. We hope that this reinforcement of our organization will promote the development not only of major titles but also new IPs under the new management team.” As for other reconfigured projects in the pipeline, Square Enix already revealed a new one is on the horizon. At the most recent Nintendo Direct this summer, the publisher revealed Star Ocean The Second Story R which is a remake of the second mainline installment for the series. Capcom Is Evaluating On More Resident Evil Remakes
Recently, the idea of remakes for classic & beloved titles is on the rise as more and more games face this treatment. And mostly, players are excited to see some projects that kicked off their love for video games to be reimagined to newer standards. Already, Dead Space when it release this past January has illustrated to be a step in the right direction with this approach. Similarly, the same can also be said for Resident Evil as well. Earlier this spring, Resident Evil 4 Remake launched with many applauding the release. Additionally, a slew of previous remakes also got Cloud Versions on Nintendo Switch ultimately forming a bridge for all major platforms officially. And now it appears more projects are still to be conceived over at Capcom. In a recent shareholders Q&A, it is shared that the firm is evaluating more Resident Evil remakes. Even more, Capcom entertains the idea to go beyond the ‘numbered’ entries in the series. You can view the exchange below: Q: Will you be providing high-end visual remakes of only the main numbered entries in the Resident Evil series? A: We are carrying out discussions regarding the future expansion of this series so it can be enjoyed by a wide audience. However, considering the wording of the answer from Capcom, it does not exactly direct what project the publisher is to pursue for this ambition. It is noted that Resident Evil: Code Veronica is by chance the most requested remake outside of the mainline series. The title is clearly due for a reimagining like its big sibling Resident Evil games and surely not many fans will complain. On other Resident Evil remake news, Capcom is preparing a PlayStation VR 2 mode for Resident Evil 4. Whilst this has been carried out for the original game via Meta Quest 2 and Resident Evil 7 for the first PlayStation peripheral, this is the first remake to welcome the feature. Is Starfield Coming To PlayStation 5?
After years of development, Bethesda is planning to launch Starfield on September 6, 2023. The action role-playing game was initially announced at Bethesda’s E3 2018 presentation. Originally, Starfield was planned to launch for PlayStation, Xbox and PC, but that changed once Microsoft acquired Bethesda. Many now wonder if Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5. Now that Bethesda is part of the Xbox Game Studios family it’s now more likely that brand new AAA games coming from Bethesda will be console exclusive to Xbox. Starfield won’t be releasing on PlayStation 5 and will be a console exclusive to Xbox Series XlS. Originally, Sony was going to have Starfield as an exclusive to PlayStation. Once Microsoft heard that was a possibility, they acquired the company for $7.5 Billion. You can pre-order Starfield on Steam and your local retailers for Xbox Series XlS. It was confirmed that Starfield will be running at 4K 30fps on Xbox Series XlS while PC versions can do 4K 60fps. The news of that raised some concern based on what happened with Redfall which was another Bethesda release. Todd Howard confirmed via an interview that post-launch for Starfield will have a major story expansion. Starfield will have a couple editions for fans to choose from with the Constellation Edition, Standard Edition, Digital Premium Edition and the Premium Edition Upgrade. Starfield will be coming to Xbox Game Pass the day it releases.
