Fortnite Announces Futurama Collaboration

Fortnite announced its collaboration with popular science-fiction sitcom, Futurama. Not many details were shared, in fact nothing was shared regarding what this partnership brings to the game. The short tweet reads “ALL HAIL HYPNOTOAD. 7.26.23.” linking to a YouTube Premiere that takes place at 5 AM ET. At this point into Fortnite’s existence there is nothing that will surprise fans anymore. The Battle Royale has collaborated with almost everything possible including Halo, God of War, Marvel, John Wick, The Witcher, Dragon Ball Z and lots more. It has been long rumored that a Family Guy and Fortnite collaboration was in the works as data miners found files of Peter Griffin. We can only assume the Futurama partnership will bring in many skins of iconic characters such as Philip J. Fry, Leela, Bender and others.
Ubisoft Reportedly Canceled A Sequel To Immortals Fenyx Rising

Ubisoft has canceled the sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising according to a report from VGC. The mythological open-world adventure game released in 2020 and had expansions along the way. Sources close to VGC said that a follow-up game was in early development at Ubisoft Quebec, but Ubisoft decided to cancel it this month due to challenges around establishing the IP. It isn’t a surprise when Ubisoft is canceling a game as of late since they’ve already canned three unannounced projects earlier in the year. One of those projects was PvP game, Project Q. They’ve also been struggling with the development of Skulls and Bones where it received yet another delay into late 2023 through early 2024. Immortals Fenyx Rising was created by the same team that developed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Some might say Immortals was better than Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. No other details regarding the cancellation was revealed. .In other Ubisoft related news, Assassin’s Creed Mirage might not see post-launch content after it releases this Fall. Source: VGC
ESRB wants to use a Facial Scan to verify your age

ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) has an idea and it’s to verify your age with a Facial Scan. They want to introduce a system that would see customers scan their faces using a mobile device to gain access to content such as mature games. The ESRB are partnering with digital identity firm Yoti, Epic Games subsidiary and software company, SuperAwesome. They claim the Facial Age Estimation is accurate to determine the age of a person. The idea was proposed to the FTC in a 38 page document . You can view the document here. Here is how the process works: The user takes a photo of themselves The system then checks if there’s a live human face in the frame The image is then uploaded to Yoti’s backend server for estimation When it comes to this there are safety concerns for parents and guardians. The group claims the images are permanently deleted and will not be used by Yoti for training purposes. This is an interesting idea by the ESRB and could be useful for when kids take control of a phone owned by a parent and try to purchase mature games. We’ve all seen kids below the age of the mature requirement purchase games like Grand Theft Auto. Will this idea work in the long run? Source: gameindustry.biz via Insider Gaming

New Xbox “Stormcloud Vapor” controller should be releasing in August

Microsoft has more controllers on the way at least according to a recent leak. The Xbox “Stormcloud Vapor” controller should be released very soon according to Dealabs. This controller is related to the rumored Forza Motorsport Xbox controller codenamed “Jemez”. The official name of the new Xbox wireless controller will be Stormcloud Vapor and it’s planned to release on August 8, 2023, but that could easily change. If it doesn’t get delayed it’ll come out two months prior to the release of Forza Motorsport (October 10) just like what they did with the Starfield controller. The price of Stormcloud Vapor is rumored to be $69.99 USD. That would make it cheaper than the Starfield Xbox controller and other limited editions Microsoft released in the past. It wouldn’t be shocking to see it at $74.99 USD. Images of the console have yet to be found, but as always we have to take this with a grain of salt. Although, billbil-kun has been a very reliable leaker. We listed what we think are the Top 5 Best Looking Xbox Controllers. Microsoft revealed the first ever Pizza Scented Xbox Controllers with their partnership for TMNT: Mutant Mayhem.
