Apex Legends Season 18 – Resurrection Delivers New ‘Revenant Reborn’ Legend

In Apex Legends, the Titanfall-shared universe battle royale is identified with its string of fluid gameplay, gun mechanics, and ever growing lore. Altogether brings a mesh of an experience that millions return to overtime. And each season does so respectively. However, recently the developer has began have new legends absent from its updates. Take Season 16 – Revelry as the update brought an overhaul to the Legend class system in-game. Additionally, Respawn Entertainment did revert back to its traditional per season Legend with Ballistic in Season 17 – Arsenal once more. But, that was short lived it appeared. From the ongoing ‘Neon Network Collection Event,’ the team is hinting at a rework for the Synthetic Nightmare Revenant. For months, the character has been discarded as a lesser character thanks to their build; Apex Legends Status visualizes this for ranked picks too. This week, Respawn Entertainment has established the new ‘Revenant Reborn’ is on the way with a new gameplay trailer for the new iteration of the paid-for-hire simulacrum for Season 18 – Resurrection coming August 8th. You can watch the trailer in the video below: ‘A shattered mind fills Revenant with even more rage, bringing him a killer new look and deadly new abilities. Revenant is unlocked for all players all season; complete quests before the season ends to unlock him permanently,” the overview for the character reads. The trailer synopsis also adds,” Revenant has been twisted into something even more sinister and his new reign of terror has begun. Experience his killer new look and deadly new abilities as he is unlocked for all players all season long.” One nugget from the new trailer is the nod to the re-configured Charge Rifle. Alongside Revenant being repurposed into a new, viable Legend choice, the sniper rifle is also under maintenance at Respawn Entertainment. It isn’t confirmed if it will come this season, but the ‘Railgun’ has been teased via a post on X recently. Despite Decline In Recent Season, Apex Legends Is Shaping Up Greatly For Major Expansion Of The Universe, Says EA CEO

At the start of 2023, Apex Legends was on the bounce back of a drought for its player base with new records being set for the battle royale. Through Steam, a new concurrent player count was met over 600,000 users logged in then. This is due in part to the Season 16 – Revelry update revamping the live-service gameplay. Since then, the title has fallen back slightly as the latest Season 17 – Arsenal failed to maintain that momentum. But, Apex Legends is heading into the right direction with its next season. Currently riding on the current ‘Neon Network Collection Event,’ the lore is thickening as more content opportunities are dropping into Apex Legends. And during the recent financial report from Electronic Arts, the publisher acknowledges the setback recently for Apex Legends, but is confident in the direction that Respawn Entertainment is taking the title looking ahead. After a highly successful 16th season, we launched Season 17 in May with new variations of gameplay and monetization. While this new season did not meet our financial expectations, the team has applied important learnings — including new game mechanics to engage and retain players, which are already generating momentum. We will continue to reinforce the strengths of this franchise by introducing new modes of play and investing in regional marketing, as well as culturalization in key markets. Wilson did go on to explain that retention is not the biggest issue Apex Legends is facing. “Apex Legends is one of the strongest franchises and live services in the industry with 18 million active monthly players and an impressive retention rate of over 70%.” He continues by elaborating that the team is preparing an “expansion of the Apex Legends universe across platforms, geographies, and modalities of play.” Gathered from the wording, the team is exploring more options for Apex Legends. In particular, it could be concerning cross-progression officially on the roadmap for the battle royale. While no date has been mentioned, the last note to the feature was in July 2021 where the studio pressed that lobby hacking is delaying the feature. You can read the full report by heading here. EA Explains The Wait For Its Next College Football Game Is Hindered By The Licensing Work

Most familiar, Electronic Arts does no different in rolling out annual installments for the Madden NFL franchise. This year is as you would expect with Madden NFL 24 coming later this August. For its cover athlete, Buffalo Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen stars on the packaging and will mark the first entry to feature full platform cross-play on console. Additionally, Rectify Gaming went ahead to list the top 10 rated teams for the approaching Madden NFL 24. In that, the top three listed are Kansas City Chiefs at Rating 92, Philadelphia Eagles at Rating 91, and Buffalo Bills at Rating 90. Looking ahead, many fans are still anticipating the return of college football as EA & the CLC are partnering to deliver a return to school teams. According to a recent update from Electronic Arts, the game is facing obstacles in the licensing work for the teams & players, says CEO Andrew Wilson. Thanks to Video Game Chronicles for transcribing the recent Q&A. The team’s doing an incredible job building out what will be the future of College Football. Gameplay is really coming together, and really capturing all the action of pageantry, and the difference in college football versus the NFL. I feel really confident in what the team’s doing. “We’re working through the license situation broadly – as of now, we’ve got many if not most of the schools licensed as part of our licensing platform. We’ll continue to work with the various governing bodies of the sport in the country, and some key third-party partners we have, around how and when to include college athletes themselves into the game, and we’ll work very closely with them. “But I’m confident that this will be an incredible re-emergence of that college football experience, that it will capture all the action and pageantry, driven by the schools and all that goes on with the schools in the context of this game,” Wilson added. “And I do believe that we’ll find a place where we can work in lockstep with the athletes for inclusion in the game as well.” What has you most excited for the next EA college football game?
Next Battlefield Described To Be A “Reimagination” Of The Series According To EA CEO

Since the initial announcement for Battlefield 2042, many fans were anticipating the series’ return to form with its new embrace for modern combat. In our review: “Battlefield 2042 has elements of a good game, and in the technology moves the franchise forward in big ways, “ we wrote. “Unfortunately technical issues and some questionable design elements prevent it from being an all time classic.” Following the response, Developer DICE has continued to undo this damage retaining some support of its players. However, Electronic Arts is already looking to a new direction for the series. For one, Respawn Entertainment founder Vince Zampella is the overseeing manager for Battlefield. Additionally, former Halo creator Marcus Lehto is also involved at Ridgeline Studios working on the new story for the IP. In a previous financial report from Electronic Arts, the publisher has acknowledged the series is to make a comeback in an “entirely new way,” it was told then. Now from Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson, he explains the Battlefield as we know it is facing a “reimagination” for the better for its next big release. Wilson tells the new game is “a reimagination of Battlefield as a truly connected ecosystem.” But what could that mean; ‘a truly connected ecosystem?’ Previously, Electronic Arts did have plans to tackle Battlefield on mobile, but the project was shuttered alongside Apex Legends Mobile. During the statement then, the publisher told the same concern of the ecosystem is a priority for the series moving forward. Similarly, Electronic Arts is doing the same with its first-person shooter approach for Star Wars. After DICE’s handling of the Battlefront duology, the team has handed the reigns to Respawn Entertainment once more to work on a new project with Lucasfilm Games. Baldur’s Gate 3 Team Blames Delayed Xbox Port On Difficulties Implementing Split-Screen For Xbox Series S

For years now, Baldur’s Gate 3 has remained in early access for fans to pay for a work-in-progress version of the game. But later this fall, the title is officially launching and it’s coming to console; namely PlayStation 5. In the past, developer Larian Studios confirmed there is no marketing for the game or exclusivity refraining the version shipping simultaneous to its competitor, but instead facing technical issues withholding progress in preparation for launch. Recently, Baldur’s Gate 3 pushed ahead its release date now with the game hitting PC in August. Additionally, the game is to ship on PlayStation 5 in September still, but scheduled predating the original listing. “This means the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released at a time where you’ll have more time to play it,” Larian Studios writes acknowledging the jam-packed release window of games coming this autumn. From a new exchange of posts on X, Larian Studios’ director of publishing Michael Douse explains that much of the issue the game is facing is to blame Xbox Series S when attempting to ship parity for its split-screen feature. Douse adds, “We have quite a few engineers working very hard to do what no other RPG of this scale has achieved: seamless drop-in, drop-out co-op on Series S. We hope to have an update by the end of the year.” From the wording, it is understood the team is still hoping to roll out Baldur’s Gate 3 by the end of 2023 for Xbox, but even the studio itself is uncertain of that. In the past, we’ve seen developer party to shake off the required Xbox Series S support for its titles. Shortly after launch, Remedy Entertainment did not hide its frustration developing for the weaker console. Furthermore, a separate report discloses effort for more studios asking that parity between both systems is dismantled moving forward. You can read the full report by heading here. Are you surprised by the recent statement from Larian Studios? Baldur’s Gate 3 ships on August 3, 2023 for PC; September 6, 2023 for PlayStation 5.
