Hellboy: Web of Wyrd Receives October Release Date

Although the character is iconic in his own right, Hellboy in recent time has little standing in video games than you would expect. Previously, the character did receive a position in the Injustice 2 post-launch roster. Additionally, the same can also be said for Blue Mammoth Games’ Brawlhalla as well. At The Game Awards, it was revealed Upstream Arcade is working on a dedicated Hellboy title – Hellboy: Web of Wyrd. With the use of its cell-shaded graphics and powerful combat, it was shaping to be an authentic Hellboy experience. This week, it is revealed that Hellboy: Web of Wyrd will officially launch this October. You can watch the release date trailer in the video below: “Hellboy Web of Wyrd utilizes an art style faithful to Mike Mignola’s original masterpieces. Like in the comics, the game sends Hellboy on a series of vastly different and wholly-unique adventures; and while each story stands on its own, they are all tied to the mysterious legacy of The Butterfly House.” The Steam page continues: “Built in 1962 by occultist Pasquale Deneveaux, The Butterfly House is more than a mere residence; it’s a gateway. Built upon occult ley-energies, its strange angles and non-Euclidean geometries were designed with a singular foul purpose in mind: to open doorways into a terrible and fascinating dimension called The Wyrd. “Go toe-to-toe (or hoof-to-hoof) with a menagerie of nightmarish creatures and homunculi as you explore the realms within the Wyrd. Combat has been engineered to create challenging encounters that encourage you to learn patterns, dodge, parry, and – of course – punch your enemies into oblivion.” How excited are you for Hellboy Web of Wyrd? Hellboy Web of Wyrd ships on October 4, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

This week, Level Infinite announces a new partnership with Electronic Arts to roll out a new Command & Conquer release. However, the series will be making another appearance on mobile once more with Command & Conquer: Legends. Epic Games New ‘Epic First Run’ Program To Offer 100% Net Revenue Share For Teams In The First Six Months

If you can remember, one of the largest controversies years ago for the video game industry was the formation of the Epic Games Store. While many were accustomed to the dominant Steam platform and other like CD Projekt Red’s GOG.com, Epic Games took it upon itself to open its own launcher. This, of course, came from the surge of success in Fortnite that still carries into 2023. Since then, we’ve seen the platform evolve with many improvements and furthered success for Epic Games. For one, the free games: after the first year in 2019, Epic Games promised to continue offering free games through its platform and titles still get offered to users even now. Additionally, one milestone players were waiting for was achievements. First introduced for select games, the feature has went on to countless other releases as well on the platform too. Now this week, Epic Games revealed a new ‘Epic First Run’ program that will benefit developers. In that, the first six-month run of a release will grant teams with 100 percent of the net revenue on its project. We’re introducing the Epic First Run program: an opt-in exclusivity program for third-party developers on the Epic Games Store. The new Epic First Run program gives participants the opportunity to boost their net revenue from user spending on eligible products from 88% to 100% in their first six months on the Epic Games Store. After their six-month run, participants will continue to benefit from Epic’s 88%/12% revenue split. The new program gives developers of any scale the opportunity to activate our global audience right at launch. While this is a major part of the release journey, that’s not all of it. For this program to reach peak efficiency, developers must promote their products early and often with their target audience. “The Epic Games Store is home to a huge, rapidly growing global audience with over 230 million players and 68 million monthly active users. Participating products in the Epic First Run program will be presented to those users on-store with new exclusive badging, homepage placements, and dedicated collections. In addition, products will be featured in relevant store campaigns including sales, events, and editorial as applicable. Once a product joins the program, it will benefit from continued exposure throughout its Epic First Run.” In a similar approach, Microsoft has also favored developers on its titles releasing on the Windows Store. Back in spring 2021, the Xbox firm pledged to increase the revenue stream from 70 percent to 88 percent. Although not the full basket for half a year like Epic Games, it is a considerable amount nonetheless. You can read the full report by hearing here. With continued legacy remasters coming to current hardware, developer Night Dive Studios continues to deliver. Earlier this summer, the game studio with Apogee Entertainment launched Rise Of The Triad: Ludicrous Edition. Additionally, the firm this week also revealed that Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is also on the way as well. Recently, System Shock Remake launched on PC. From our first impression of the game at PAX East, we wrote: “While players are likely accustomed to the greater story of System Shock, the Remake does a good job establishing this with lingering audio tapes to listen as you uncover the true events prior to the game.”Adding that “versatility is key when it comes to overcoming foes and moreover keeps the player on the edge of their seat,” speaking about the game’s combat. Irdeto Denuvo Gets Officially Registered For Nintendo Switch This Week

This week, Irdeto’s Denuvo anti-cheat is officially registered as middleware on Nintendo Switch. In recent time, new countermeasures against cheaters has become a phenomenon for platform holders to limit exploits and other malicious software from intruding on its systems. We saw this attempted with live DRM via Xbox One at its launch. Since then, firms look to third-party to resolve this issue head-on. Around the launch of the PlayStation 5, Irdeto partnered with Sony Interactive Entertainment to bring Denuvo to the system. And now the same can also be said for Nintendo Switch in the latest announcement this week as the software is officially registered for Nintendo Switch developers. As gamers, we know first-hand how piracy negatively affects the gaming industry. We’re thrilled to be part of the Nintendo Developers Portal, so that we can provide the latest technologies to help fight this issue for Nintendo Switch players and developers. We witness an increasing need to protect against emulation on PC from game launch, our solution is a must have for publishers to monetize the games fairly on this platform and also not impact PC game sales. Doug Lowther, Irdeto CEO “The Nintendo Developer Portal offers documentation, tools and other useful materials for the development of software for Nintendo consoles. Denuvo is the first security partner added to the portal, where developers are now able to access the Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection, a revolutionary technology to protect games launching on Nintendo Switch from piracy. “Even if a game is protected against piracy on its PC version, the version released on Nintendo Switch can be emulated from day one and played on PC, therefore bypassing the strong protections offered on the PC version. This can happen with any of the numerous games available on Nintendo Switch. “By blocking unauthorized emulations on PC, studios are able to increase their revenue during the game launch window, which is the most important period for monetization. The Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection will ensure that anyone wishing to play the game has to buy a legitimate copy.“ The press release concludes with: “As with all other Denuvo solutions, the technology integrates seamlessly into the build toolchain with no impact on the gaming experience. It then allows for the insertion of checks into the code, which blocks gameplay on emulators.” Do you back Denuvo coming to Nintendo Switch or no? Source: Irdeto
NetherRealm Boss Ed Boon Speaks On Hopes To Make A DC Vs. Marvel Game

When expanding on the greater NetherRealm Studios portfolio, it is easy to identify that majority of the team’s work is Mortal Kombat. However, the firm under Warner Bros. used its resources to pool in two Injustice titles with the DC label. However, while fans await a new entry more than five years later, the firm has not outright abandoned the series. Back in fall 2021, a new Warner Bros. Animation film titled ‘Injustice: God Among Us’ released. The movie was an adaptation of the work that the game was based off of. Around the same time, NetherRealm Studios went ahead to confirm that it was already working on its next title when finishing up on Mortal Kombat 11. It was suspected the time was ripe for Injustice 3, fans speculated. But, of course, we now know the project to be Mortal Kombat 1 instead. Howbeit, amid the soon to launch reboot for the IP, creator Ed Boon when speaking to ComicBook.com pressed on DC fighting games. While not specifically Injustice, he expressed some hope to tackle a DC Vs. Marvel game somewhere down the road. I mean, we did a number of games with DC characters. When you’re kids and you’re like, ‘Who would win in a fight, Mighty Mouse or Superman?’ Just these dumb different universe things. There’s part of us that still [has those] immature conversations. To me, Spider-Man and Batman would be the coolest thing in the world. So of course we’d love to do that. But it’s probably very difficult to jump that hurdle. For obvious reason, to create such a game would be a licensing hell for the publisher to tackle alone. Just looking at Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the final addition of Kingdom Hearts’ Sora came with many caveats to include the character whilst working to sever any connection to the Disney properties simultaneously. With Marvel under the shadow of Disney could bring many issues to make the game a reality. As for the future of Mortal Kombat 1, it is shaping up to be the most ambitious yet with the coming Kombat Pass. In that, it features two Amazon characters – Homelander & Omni-Man of The Boys and Invincible respectively – to be part of the game’s post-launch. The game will also welcome John Cena’s Peacemaker to the game as well. You can read the full report by heading here. What is your impression of NetherRealm Studios working on a DC Vs. Marvel game? PAULINE CONFIRMED FOR MK8D 🚨 pic.twitter.com/Zr3zA0oHNa — Dylanimado ✏️ (@Dylanimado_) August 24, 2023 It’s very possible that Pauline would join Mario Kart since she was added to Mario Strikers: Battle League in its second free update. It also wouldn’t be shocking to see this happen since she is already in Mario Kart Tour.
