Review: Cry Babies Magic Tears: The Big Game

Developer – Drakhar Studio Publisher – Merge Games Platforms – Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Reviewed) Review copy given by Publisher Cry Babies Magic Tears: The Big Game is an adorable and entertaining adventure tailored for young players. It promises an exciting journey as you join Lady, Coney, Dreamy, and their friends in a multi-stage tournament to win the legendary Golden Pacifier. However, despite its promising title, the game falls short of delivering a truly “big” experience, feeling more like a collection of mini-games strung together. The game allows players to meet and play as 15 popular Cry Babies characters, taking them on a tour of various locations, from the familiar Baby Bottle Valley to Fantasy Mountain, Tutti Frutti Bay, Icy World, and finally to the new planet, Planet Tear. The array of settings and characters is undoubtedly charming, and the game’s visual style remains faithful to the franchise’s cute and colorful aesthetic. Cry Babies Magic Tears offers a variety of activities to engage young players, including hide and seek, mazes, puzzles, dancing, taking photos, and even having a bath , making the game suitable for its target audience. Cooperative gameplay is a standout feature, enabling two players to join forces using a second controller. This cooperative mode can double the fun for kids, encouraging teamwork and camaraderie as they progress through the game. In the game , you also earn pink stars by exploring and using them to purchase new clothes and outfits for your favorite characters . Customizing characters and their wardrobes can be an engaging aspect for young players, allowing them to express their creativity and style. One of the game’s strengths is its animated and voiced story scenes, mirroring the TV series and giving players an immersive experience, as if they’re part of a brand new interactive episode. However, the game’s biggest drawback is its lackluster story. While the game is indeed filled with entertaining mini-games and activities, it falls short of delivering a coherent and compelling narrative that one might expect from a title with “The Big Game” in its name. The individual activities feel somewhat disjointed, as if they were bundled together without a strong overarching storyline to tie them all together. In conclusion, Cry Babies Magic Tears: The Big Game is an enjoyable and friendly adventure for young players. It offers a variety of activities, charming characters, and cooperative gameplay that will keep kids entertained. Nevertheless, the game’s title may set unrealistic expectations for a grand narrative, as it ultimately feels more like a collection of mini-games rather than a cohesive “Big Game.” A more robust and interconnected storyline would have elevated the gaming experience, making it a more deserving title for the “Big Game” moniker.

Analyst Sheds PlayStation Faces ‘Pressure’ To Further Respond To Activision Deal At Xbox

More than a year ago during the initial announcement for Activision Blizzard being up for purchase by Microsoft, it appeared that Sony Interactive Entertainment felt obligated to respond to the $68.7 billion acquisition. In March, it was revealed that Destiny’s Bungie would be joining PlayStation Studios. A portion of the acquisition capital was reported to buy developer’s commitment to stay post-acquisition, it was revealed. And this past week, Microsoft shared that the deal officially passed with Activision Blizzard King now part of Xbox. The meat of the deal reveals titles pertaining to the publishing conglomerate will be added later in the coming weeks. Additionally, it was said in a press release that CEO Bobby Kotick is to remain for his position until the end of 2023 for this calendar year. However, despite the $3 billion acquisition of Bungie, analysts are anticipating that Sony Interactive Entertainment is to respond with a bigger bomb shell now. Speaking to gamesindustry.biz, Kantan Games CEO Dr. Serkan Toto expressed that much of this post-acquisition atmosphere requires the PlayStation firm to really hit back at the talent Xbox swept up. “Sony surely is under pressure to react, even after their Bungie acquisition. I expect further investments and acquisitions for PlayStation, including a large one that would move the needle for them in a meaningful way,” he elaborates. But, there is some push back as to what many are anticipating to be in the crosshairs of Team PlayStation. Previously, it was confirmed that CD Projekt Red is not up for sale back in May. Another candidate that many are anticipating to be in the ballpark for Sony Interactive Entertainment is Take-Two Interactive. However, speculation surrounding that claim has been shelved thanks to Jason Schreier. Via Twitter, X at the time, the Bloomberg journalist dismantled a string of rumors pertaining to Take-Two’s imminent purchase for PlayStation. You can read the full report by heading here. Phil Spencer Expresses Passion-first Approach For Teams Returning To Legacy IPs At Xbox Game Studios

Over the past weekend, Microsoft officially welcomed the addition of Activision Blizzard King. More than a year – close to 20 months since the initial announcement for the acquisition – the $70 billion deal went through opening Call of Duty, Overwatch, and Candy Crush to the Xbox firm. In extension to the purchase closing, Microsoft also shared in a press release that CEO Bobby Kotick is to leave come 2024 as per an agreement with Phil Spencer. In terms of the possibilities that could follow the Xbox deal for Activision Blizzard King, reports are already hinting at the first IP to make a return. In that, Guitar Hero is suggested to be facing some form of revival in the coming future. Previously, Spencer expressed his excitement for the deal being passed with the portfolio of franchises that Activision currently backs and those in the vault too. Regarding how Spencer views team exploring these projects, in the most recent Xbox Podcast episode, he explains that the first aspect to consider is the team’s passion to pursue these games rather than acknowledging how much money it makes. The first thing, as I kind of mentioned before, is to go spend time with the teams. Because I just don’t think that a team working on something that isn’t their passion leads to the best result. So I might have my list of things from my memories in history that I want to see made again. Everybody will. When I just think about- not just not just about Activision Blizzard King. You add in Bethesda. you add in Xbox’s history, Rare- like, the amount of franchises that we now have in our portfolio is kind of inspiring. It’s daunting. I feel that we have to be a great custodian for the content that we touch. these are memories from people on different platforms, different decades. And I want to make sure that when we’re going back and visiting something, that we do it with our complete ability- a motivated team that wants to go work on something and make a difference, not just create something for financial gain, or create something for a PR announcement and not deliver on the product. “So I’m going to start with the teams, and what are they passionate about. That’s why I’m excited to go on these visits. and then we’ll look at it. I think we’ve done an ok job as Xbox I don’t think we’ve done an A+ job on looking at our franchises and revisiting them. It’s always a trade-off between what do you do that’s new, and going back and doing something. I do think with Game Pass, we have the ability to maybe pick a couple franchises every year and almost do a revisited,” Spencer further explains. “But I do think when you look across all of the franchises that are part of our teams, there’s an opportunity for us to go back, even if it’s just to recognize the moment and what those things meant in gaming’s history, and do something right with it. Make it available to people through Game Pass. I think there’s an opportunity. There’s not a plan for that, but there’s an opportunity. “If people want to- if teams want to go back and revisit some of the things that we have and do a full focus on it, I’m going to be all in on that. Because I think there’s just an amazing trove of things that we can go and touch again. It doesn’t just have to be about Activision and Blizzard. Like I said, when you look across all the portfolio.” What are your thoughts on Spencer’s statement?
Future Call of Duty games won’t have exclusive content for a platform

Since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, there has been discussion that maybe there will be more exclusive content coming to Xbox for games like Call of Duty, Overwatch, and others. In a recent podcast, the Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer brought up the idea of exclusive content like skins and even early beta access only through one platform for Call of Duty. Talking on the official Xbox podcast hosted by Jeff Rubenstein, Phil confirmed “there will be 100% parity” on content for Call of Duty on every platform. He also said they have no goal of using Call of Duty to get customers to buy an Xbox console. Phil Spencer also talks about how he wants the community to feel included and doesn’t want anyone left out. With the most recent Modern Warfare III Beta, the first weekend was exclusive to PlayStation and Phil Spencer also confirmed in future Betas that all platforms will have access at the same time. Before the Activision Blizzard Acquisition, it was already confirmed that Modern Warfare III would not join Xbox Game Pass in 2023. Source: CharlieIntel
