New PlayStation 5 Design Will Take Up Less Space On Store Shelves

A few weeks ago Sony announced a smaller PlayStation 5 model that is reduced in volume by more than 30% and weight by 18-24% compared to the initial PS5 console. This new design will eventually replace the original version of the PlayStation 5 that was released in 2020. Sony hasn’t revealed when the new PS5 design would be released to the public besides giving a November 2023 window. What we do know is that Sony already revealed they were doing a Modern Warfare III bundle and from what we have seen and heard, these PS5 bundles are already shipping out to retailers. Comparing the slimmer PlayStation 5 to the original, it looks like it will take up less space on store shelves. This is always a great sign for retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, GameStop, etc. The image features two PlayStation 5 physical editions and from what you can see from the image, the new PS5 box is different in height and width. Retailers who receive the Modern Warfare III bundle early are not allowed to put it out on the sales floor until November 10, 2023. From what we’ve heard, the new PlayStation 5 weighs less than the original, but “not by much”. It’s very possible the new PlayStation 5 design will come out before that date.

Review: Ghostrunner 2

Developer – One More Level Publisher – 505 Games Platforms – PS5 , Xbox Series S|X , PC (Reviewed) Review copy given by Publisher The highly anticipated Ghostrunner 2 takes us back to the dystopian world that left us breathless in the first installment, but this time, it promises to be an even more thrilling, more challenging, and ultimately more satisfying experience. A year has passed since the fall of the tyrannical Keymaster, and the remnants of humanity continue their struggle for survival in Dharma Tower. In this gripping sequel, we once again take on the role of Jack, the Ghostrunner, as he confronts a violent AI cult that threatens the very future of mankind. One of the most significant improvements in Ghostrunner 2 is the introduction of new skills and abilities that allow players to be more creative and adapt to the demands of every encounter. The game’s enemies now respond uniquely to the skills you use against them, injecting fresh challenges into each confrontation. This revamped player progression system opens up opportunities for experimentation and customization, making every playthrough a unique experience. Ghostrunner was already known for its fast-paced, first-person platformer action-combat, and Ghostrunner 2 takes this to the next level. The push-forward momentum and semi-open level design remain core elements, ensuring that the thrill of movement and combat is as intense as ever. But now, motorcycle combat segments have been seamlessly integrated into the gameplay, adding even more variety and excitement. The difficulty in Ghostrunner 2 has not been toned down. Instead, players are granted a more extensive toolbox of powers and abilities, empowering them to face greater challenges while playing their way. The emphasis is still on rewarding skill and precision, ensuring that victory is earned through mastery rather than hand-holding. While the original game mostly revolved around the confines of Dharma Tower, Ghostrunner 2 encourages players to venture beyond, exploring the broader cyberpunk world. With new bosses and increased checkpoints, this expanded environment adds layers of depth to the game’s universe. Ghostrunner’s exhilarating synthwave soundtrack was a standout feature in the first game, setting the tone and pacing of the gameplay perfectly. Ghostrunner 2 doesn’t disappoint in this regard, with an all-new soundtrack featuring tracks from artists like Daniel Deluxe, We Are Magonia, Gost, Dan Terminus, and Arek Reikowski. The music continues to drive the gameplay, making every action and decision feel more immersive and impactful. To succeed in Ghostrunner 2, you’ll need to master the Cybervoid and face off against new, challenging enemies. The game’s interactive environments, including exploding barrels and destructible walls, add depth to the combat and keep it fresh. The inclusion of helpful neutral entities and a new dialogue system deepens the lore and plot, immersing players further into the cyberpunk narrative. Ghostrunner 2 picks up the mantle of its predecessor and runs with it, carving a path through the post-apocalyptic cyberpunk future with a katana-sharp focus on gameplay, story, and world-building. The first game was hailed for its challenging combat, vertigo-inducing parkour, and breathtaking aesthetics, and the sequel takes these aspects and magnifies them. The game world, already intriguing in its portrayal of a dystopian future, is expanded upon with greater depth and variety. The introduction of motorcycle combat and the ability to explore beyond Dharma Tower broadens the player’s horizons, making the experience more dynamic. The heart of Ghostrunner, the combat, remains as unforgiving and adrenaline-pumping as ever. With the introduction of new skills and abilities, players will have to stay on their toes, adapting to the unique behaviors of enemies. This presents a challenge that is ever-changing and provides an incentive to experiment with different playstyles. Boss fights, which were already a high point in the original game, are now even more interactive. Players are given the freedom to choose their approach, making these showdowns all the more satisfying when conquered. In conclusion, Ghostrunner 2 surpasses its predecessor in nearly every aspect. It retains the heart-pounding, skill-based combat that made the first game a standout, while expanding the world, offering new gameplay elements, and enriching the narrative. Ghostrunner 2 cements its place as a must-play title in the hardcore first-person slasher genre, and its improvements make it a game you’ll want to return to time and time again.
Review: Scene Investigators

Developer – FURYU Corporation Publisher – NIS America, Inc. Platforms – PC (Reviewed) Review copy given by Publisher Scene Investigators, a game set in the near future that promises an immersive experience in the world of detective work, had me intrigued from the get-go. With a strong emphasis on the 70/30 principle, where keen observation, filling in missing gaps, and making assumptions are key, it had the potential to be a gripping and intellectually challenging adventure. However, after diving into the game, I found that the balance between these elements was more like a seesaw that leaned heavily toward obscurity, leaving players with an experience that felt more open-ended than expected. The game’s description led me to believe that Scene Investigators would provide a unique and authentic detective experience, demanding players to rely on their logic, intuition, and deductive skills. The absence of hints and hand-holding raised the expectation of a challenging and rewarding gameplay experience, but it ended up being frustratingly daunting. There’s a fine line between challenging and overwhelming, and Scene Investigators veered too far into the latter territory. One of the issues that marred the experience was the excessive reliance on the 70/30 principle. While it’s essential to encourage players to make assumptions and think critically, the game often felt more like a guessing game than a deductive reasoning challenge. The missing information and vague clues made it difficult to connect the dots logically. Instead of feeling like a true detective, I found myself making wild guesses in the hope that they might lead to some semblance of progress. Furthermore, while initially intriguing, the game’s open-ended nature eventually became a source of frustration. The fine balance between presenting a challenging mystery and providing enough information for players to piece together the narrative was skewed. Scene Investigators left too many gaps to fill and motives to conjure up, making it feel more like a trial-and-error exercise than a satisfying puzzle-solving experience. The environmental clues, though abundant and diverse, often led to more confusion than enlightenment. While some ambiguity can be a positive element in a mystery game, Scene Investigators left me with an overwhelming amount of uncertain details, leaving me grasping at straws and struggling to form a coherent narrative. Ultimately, Scene Investigators falls short of its potential to offer a truly engaging detective experience. The 70/30 principle, while promising in theory, tips the scale too far towards uncertainty, making the game feel less like a deductive challenge and more like an exercise in wild conjecture. Despite its immersive murder mystery setting, the game’s execution leaves much to be desired, resulting in a frustrating and unsatisfying experience for those who seek logical, well-structured puzzles.
Connie Booth has reportedly left PlayStation

Major news is reported to come out of Sony and part of that is longtime executive, Connie Booth leaving the company after 34 years. She was most recently named VP, Head of Development Strategy after she worked with Guerrilla. This report comes from David Jaffe who claims his sources within Sony and others on the outside have said she is no longer with PlayStation. “What I can tell you is she is no longer with Sony, I don’t know if she was fired or laid off everyone’s telling me she was fired. Then I heard her team was walked out of the building” Jaffe said in his recent YouTube video. David Jaffe also says Connie Booth will also be replaced by Angie Smets who worked at Guerrilla for two decades. Connie Booth has been known to work on iconic Sony franchises like God of War: Ragnarok, Marvel Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us: Part II, Days Gone, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and many more. David also made a tweet saying more industry insiders might have further information about this in the next day. Sad, frustrating, potentially super disrespectful news dropping tomorrow about Playstation if my sources are correct. I talk around it in this members only video but in less than 24 hours I'm sure the journalists will get hold of it and tell the tale. It's not a lock but these 2… — David Jaffe (@davidscottjaffe) October 23, 2023 Source: Insider Gaming
Review: Archetype Arcadia

Developer – Water Pheonix Publisher – PQUBE Platforms – Nintendo Switch , PlayStation 4/5, PC (Reviewed) Review copy given by Publisher Archetype Arcadia is a mesmerizing dark, sci-fi visual novel that transports players to a post-apocalyptic world plagued by the enigmatic ‘Original Sin’ disease. The game’s narrative revolves around Rust and his relentless quest to save his sister from this debilitating illness. The story’s premise is riveting, instantly immersing players in the bleak and mysterious world the developers have masterfully crafted. One of the game’s most intriguing aspects is the richly developed virtual game, Archetype Arcadia, which serves as both a lifeline for the afflicted and a captivating, perilous alternate reality. The concept of using virtual avatars to combat the disease’s symptoms is a brilliant twist on the traditional post-apocalyptic setting, adding depth and originality to the narrative. Character development in Archetype Arcadia is commendable, and players will become emotionally invested in Rust’s journey. The relationships he forms with other characters are central to the game’s emotional impact, and the writing excels in conveying the complexities of these connections. Unexpected twists and revelations are seamlessly integrated into the plot, keeping players on the edge of their seats throughout the game. Archetype Arcadia impresses with its visual and audio elements. The graphics are meticulously detailed, vividly portraying the desolate landscapes and the fantastical realm within the virtual game. The hauntingly atmospheric soundtrack enhances the immersion, effectively setting the tone for the post-apocalyptic world. In the midst of all its brilliance, Archetype Arcadia stands as a testament to the power of storytelling in gaming. The game’s narrative, character development, and the virtual game concept all contribute to its unique allure. Players who relish thought-provoking and emotionally charged visual novels will find this game to be a compelling and unforgettable journey. Archetype Arcadia successfully blends truth and fiction to create a world where hope and despair intermingle.
