There will be Xbox news at The Game Awards

The Game Awards is right around the corner taking place on December 7, 2023, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Usually every year there will be announcements from Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo and even some large publishers will have news to share. It’s safe to say that Xbox news will drop during the show. Microsoft confirmed there would be “important announcements and other Xbox news that you don’t want to miss”. This was found by Klobrille: 🤔 pic.twitter.com/m0tGZjX0dg — Klobrille (@klobrille) November 28, 2023 The Game Awards will take place at 7:30 PM ET with a 30-minute pre-show taking place before the start that will most likely have smaller announcements there. Don’t forget the last time Xbox had a major announcement at The Game Awards was in 2019 when the Xbox Series X was revealed for the first time. It doesn’t necessarily mean that Microsoft will do something that large, but this is an event that the entire industry does watch so it’s possible we see video game-related news more than anything.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 releases on March 22, 2024

Capcom announced the official release date for Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be on March 22, 2024. The game was officially announced over a year ago sharing it would be developed in RE Engine. The publisher released a new trailer that was revealed during the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Showcase. In Dragon’s Dogma 2, players experience the tale of the Arisen, a champion whose heart is stolen by the Dragon. While the sequel’s setting mirrors the lush rolling hills of the cult classic Dragon’s Dogma and its Dark Arisen expansion, this original adventure takes place in a parallel world containing two nations with distinct approaches to the Dragon threat. Queen Regent Disa has installed a false Arisen to maintain control of the kingdom of Vermund for her son. Meanwhile, the beastren nation of Battahl considers the otherworldly Pawns to be a source of misfortune and have turned to worship of the Lambent Flame and their empress Nadinia to ward off calamity. The showcase provided a look at some of the destinations that quests can lead players to, such as the reclusive elven enclave of Sacred Arbor. The elves there communicate in their own language, and Pawns capable of understanding their speech will translate for the Arisen while in your party. Pawns can also specialize in other skills, making each of their personalities more distinct. Dragon’s Dogma 2 will come to the Xbox Series XlS, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. The game will cost $69.99 USD when it is released.

Sega Addresses More IPs Are Open To Film Adaptations In Recent Interview

Although Sega has dismantled its in-house console empire after the release of the Sega Dreamcast more than 25 years ago now, the Japanese publisher is facing a new renaissance as a multiplatform publisher in recent years. Already, the firm is contending this with remakes for its most popular titles such as the upcoming Persona 3 Reload and even expressed more is on the way in the near future as well. Even more, the firm has pressed it is also on the fence considering a $70 price tag for its titles alike what much of the industry has embraced for over the past few years already. One element many are interested to see Sega explore more is more transmedia. With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 still on the way for a December 2024 release, fans are hoping other films are on the way. When speaking to CNBC recently, Sega chief operating officer Shuji Utsumi elaborated more IPs are being considered for film adaptations – specifically Persona & Like a Dragon, IGN transcribed. “We just revived Sonic in a big way, not only through games but also movies and TV shows, and actually Sonic is in Roblox too. And we’re working closely now with Lego. So now Sonic is reviving. “We have other major IPs and, I cannot say too much about it but we are thinking of reviving other classical Sega IPs too. Right now there are two big IPs other than Sonic. One is Persona. And also our Yakuza titles. Yakuza is really unique. But that big one is also coming next year too. But also, as I say, we are trying to be in a lot of different kinds of business areas, like Roblox, movies. All these IPs can be somewhere else other than games soon.” In terms of undergoing plans with Sega on exploring more productions for its IPs, formerly Yakuza has already been greenlit for a film since 2020. It was reported by Variety that in collaboration with 1212 & Wild Sheep a new live-action adaptation is in the works over in Hollywood. Howbeit, there has been little clarity in casting or a expectancy for the release. Furthermore, Sega has addressed that Persona is also being considered for television alongside film too. Sega lead producer on Sonic the Hedgehog Toru Nakahara shared that Persona or even the greater Atlus portfolio is already being eyed for transmedia as well. Maxis Tells Next Sims Game Has Multiplayer On The Table For The New Release

Although The Sims 4 continues to be supported more than a decade later, Electronic Arts has already approached the game with multiple expansions & add-on over the years. Even before live-service was a completely embraced model like it is today, The Sims was the catalyst. But, it still came as a surprise that the latest entry would be free-to-play as of October 2022. But, that is not all that developer Maxis has to share. At the same time, it was confirmed that The Sims is already stirring the pot for its next game, dubbed ‘Project Rene’. Although it is still premature to press what is furthered in the new experience, information did surface elsewhere. In one job listing, it is suggested that the new title will effectively embrace the live-service model at release. Howbeit, that is not all on the table for The Sims for Project Rene. In that, Maxis addresses in an interview with RadioTimes that the new game is being considered to integrate multiplayer for the first time. We definitely want to introduce multiplayer. And not multiplayer in the big, scary “jump in a world full of strangers” kind of way. But literally, how do you and your friends want to do some play together? And there’s a lot of different flavours that could take, so we’re exploring a lot of different spaces there. Because playing together can look like so many different things, right? Even our chat now, we’ve talked about, like, trivia games to fighting games to racing games, playing together and social can mean so many things. And so we’re having a lot of fun exploring all those different opportunities, particularly within the context of The Sims, because it is still about these little characters, their little lives, and you helping guide them. Lyndsay Pearson, Vice President of Franchise Creative “So, what does that mean if you and I do that together? And how do we figure out how to make a little bit of that chaos, a little bit of that fun and a little bit of that positivity all come together in a way that feels Sims-y?” Pearson also sheds the team does reference “talk about Animal Crossing all the time, because it is such a good example of my little space, my little island, but I can invite you over. “And we’ve seen throughout the last few years of Animal Crossing, people inventing ways to play together that the game doesn’t specifically support, but they’ve made up scavenger hunts or whatever, which is amazing. […] We actually look at a lot of games that are doing multiplayer in clever ways, like Among Us even, which is this sort of mystery thing, but you have to talk about it and solve it.” What is your thoughts on The Sims to feature some form of multiplayer? Players Worried About More Ads With Pop-Up Interrupting User In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

In today’s current state of service-focused business models and digital storefronts, advertisements become even more prevalent in this always-connected world online. For games especially, attracting new players remains a major focus through multiple avenues. Most recently, both Microsoft & Sony took advantage of the new Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada to poster titles like Forza Motorsport, Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, the platform holders are also exploring to inject advertisements on its own systems as well. While it is no secret that both billboard new releases or sales respectively, more involved adverts are coming. Specifically on Xbox, this has become a norm with corresponding tiles for Xbox Game Pass titles in recent years. And PlayStation is expected to approach ads similar as well. But, it appears Ubisoft is also experimenting with offering ads in its titles directly. While what has been mentioned before is exclusive to real life means or on the home page/dashboard for console, this new finding reveals that Ubisoft is advertising mid-game. From Reddit user u/triddell24, a pop-up for a discount on the newest Assassin’s Creed Mirage interrupted his game playing 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Ubisoft in a statement via X said the pop-up was an error on its end. “We have been made aware that some players encountered a pop-up message in-game while playing certain Assassin’s Creed titles yesterday. This was the result of a technical error that has now been fixed. Our intention was to display a promotion for Assassin’s Creed Mirage as part of the franchise news in the main menu of other Assassin’s Creed games.  “Unfortunately, this technical error caused the promotion to appear in one of our in-game menus instead. We want to ensure the best player experience possible, and these disruptive pop-ups were promptly removed once we learned of the issue.” It should be noted that while this is new to many users and even pressed by Ubisoft directly, a community note does clarify that similar actions were in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey years before this recent discovery.
