Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants

Developer – Cradle Games Publisher – GameMill Entertainment Platforms –  PS4/5 , Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PC (Reviewed) Review copy given by Publisher Ah, where do I even start with this one? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants is a game that manages to take one of the most beloved franchises and turn it into a mind-numbingly boring and repetitive experience. Thank god I decided to get a pizza in celebration of playing this game because it was the only enjoyable thing about my time playing this Wrath of a Horrible experience (See what I did there ?) The story of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants is about as compelling as a slice of cardboard pizza. It’s a tired and clichéd narrative that feels like it was thrown together in five minutes by someone who had only a passing familiarity with the Turtles’ lore. You’re tasked with saving the city from yet another generic villain who wants to take over the world or whatever, a plot so overused that even the Turtles themselves would roll their eyes. There’s absolutely no depth or nuance to the storytelling, making it impossible to become emotionally invested in the characters or their plight. The dialogue is equally uninspired, consisting of cringe-worthy one-liners and banter that feels like it was ripped straight from a bad Saturday morning cartoon. It’s as if the writers didn’t even bother to try. From the moment you start playing, you’re thrown into wave after wave of the same mediocre enemies, with the occasional boss fight thrown in to break up the monotony. But let’s be honest, even the bosses feel like a chore to defeat, offering little in the way of challenge or variety, and with boring repetitiveness. The gameplay mechanics are as stale as a week-old pizza crust. The controls feel clunky and unresponsive, making it a struggle just to navigate your way through the uninspired levels. And don’t even get me started on the graphics; they look like something straight out of a mid-90s bargain bin , and even Pizza Hut would be embarrassed to use their character models on any advertisement back in that time frame, as they look very blocky and stiff. Now, I will admit, that the one redeeming quality of this game is its undeniable nostalgia factor. There’s something about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that still manages to tug at my heartstrings, despite the game’s numerous flaws. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants is a game that fails to capture the magic of its source material. It’s a repetitive slog that offers little in the way of entertainment value. Someone explain to me why there charging $40 for this …. Cowabunga? More like Cowabung-NO.

Apex Legends ‘Urban Assault Collection Event’ Features New Apex Rumble Tournament Mode Plus More

Concerning Apex Legends for its latest blanket season with ‘Breakout’, the live-service battle royale has reshaped itself with no addition of new Legend or map. The new perk system fixed for each character brings diversity to the gameflow alongside console welcoming 120hz as well. The events also show to be engaging with The Hunt for a limited-time in the ‘Inner Beast Collection Event’ prior. The more recent ‘Shadow Society Event’ upped the ante with a separate Lockdown game mode that is permanently added to Mixtape. Additionally, players also got to witness the new universal heirloom ‘Cobalt Katar’ which was added then too. Beyond the core content, battle royale could be put to rest finally. Electronic Arts in one statement confirmed that it is exploring more beyond the genre that launched with the game. This week, the next major event comes to Apex Legends. From April 23rd to May 7th, the ‘Urban Assault Collection Event’ goes live for Apex Legends. You can watch the trailer in the video below: One of the biggest adds to Apex Legends in this event is the new ‘Apex Rumble’ feature for the base game. “Think you’ve got what it takes to be at the top? Welcome to the Apex Rumble Beta—the beginning of an exciting new way to compete that we hope to evolve with your feedback. This all-new asynchronous tournament system allows you to test your skills against your competition while earning points to climb the leaderboards against similarly skilled competitors. “Points are awarded for your placement, kills, assists, and damage. Once an Apex Rumble has concluded, rewards will be delivered based on your overall placement. Apex Rumble kicks off with the Urban Assault Rumble, where you’ll jump into Three Strikes matches. There are no pre-made squads here—just you, your skills, and a ton of flying bullets. Should you choose to, re-enter the fray with Legend Tokens to reset your score and charge back into battle.” What’s more, the next Mythic Skin comes to Apex Legends with Octane’s newest ‘Apex Riptide’ skin for acquiring all 24 items from the collection event. Excitingly, Three Strikes does make a return for the game alongside more pronounced teases for the next season coming in just a few short weeks to Apex Legends. What has you excited for the Urban Assault Collection Event? Apex Legends is out for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Source: Respawn Entertainment

Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs Is Rumored To Be Done For Good, Insider Shares

Among the library of properties that define Ubisoft, Watch Dogs is in an obscure position. While championed during its initial reveal more than a decade ago, the series shaped to being a solid franchise that laid ahead even after the reality stuck from the artificial E3 demo. With two more entries, the IP has remained silent for years now. Our review for 2020’s Watch Dog’s Legion gave the game an 8.3/10 score. “Watch Dogs: Legion isn’t the home run like we wanted, but there are enough enjoyable moments to warrant a recommendation from me,” we wrote then. However, despite the established backing the first two titles garnered, Legion was deemed a loss for the publisher. Since then, little has been expressed in growing the series. Is Watch Dogs Officially Done? Most recently, reports share a live-action film is to come from the Ubisoft IP, there is still a vacancy for a new game. And apparently, that is for good. According to known leaker @xj0nathan on X, the series is done for good. “Watch Dogs is normally dead and buried. Legion’s failure destroyed the projects on the license (including a fairly original Battle Royale),” the leaker said when translated through an auto-translator. Of course, the expectation of new settings & genres to explore was paramount for fans, but appears to be off the table. Previously, Ubisoft Toronto did release a zombie experience for Watch Dogs Legion on PC, but never made its way to console. For one, it is understood the team for the latest game is already occupied with another project. In a recent development, it is indicated news on the upcoming Splinter Cell Remake is to be spared later this year. Ubisoft is to host its self-named ‘Forward’ presentation this June. You can read the full report by heading here. Do you think Ubisoft is finished with Watch Dogs completely?

New IGN X ID@Xbox Digital Showcase Coming Later This Month

When it comes to the indie game market, Microsoft has committed more than a decade to smaller teams to receive the same platform as AAA projects. However, some things appear to be changing for the Xbox firm. While the firm is adamant of backing indie titles, the opportunity for these games are minimizing. Reports from PCGamer notes that studios acknowledging the “gold mine” that was Xbox Game Pass has since then “gone down” in terms of major partnerships. On the other hand, Microsoft still shows to favor indie teams. In a new initiative starting off 2024, it created a new ‘Indie Selects’ endeavor to showcase small games on a monthly regiment. Giving even more room for independent teams to showcase their work. Of course, the ID@Xbox firm also hosts multiple presentations annually, i.e, IGN Digital Showcase, to bring notice to up & coming titles. This week, Microsoft, IGN, and ID@Xbox share a new ‘IGN X ID@Xbox Digital Showcase’ is coming later this April. Alike its 2023 presentation, this year’s livestreamed show will feature anticipated projects that define the year and likely the Xbox Game Pass library too. “On top of epic trailers, fresh gameplay, and new reveals, the show will feature new details on upcoming games like Dungeons of Hinterberg, 33 Immortals, Lost Records Bloom & Rage, and many others.” The Xbox Wire post continues, “Last year, you got a first-hand look at Karateka, Axiom Verge 2, Sea of Stars, and many other incredible games during the first IGN x ID@Xbox Digital Showcase. Today, we’re excited to announce that the show is returning on April 29, 2024, with another batch of hotly anticipated indies for you to play across Xbox and PC.” Adding, “We are also proud to share that the ID@Xbox Digital Showcase will also be available in American Sign Language (ASL): Stream the ID@Xbox Digital Showcase in ASL. We hope you’ll join us for lots of indie goodness, but if you cannot watch live, the showcase will be available on demand post-premiere on IGN’s channels, and of course, we’ll have a recap of everything showcased on Xbox Wire!” Are you planning to catch the IGN X ID@Xbox Digital Showcase?
