Sonic Team Confirms No Chao Garden For Sonic X Shadow Generations, Studio Head Entertains A Comeback

2024 stand to be a very substantial year for Sonic the Hedgehog. Of course, the third live-action film is underway for this December. Not only that, Shadow the Hedgehog makes his debit on the silver screen. Already, it is confirmed that Keanu Reeves (John Wick, The Matrix) is to voice the ultimate lifeform. Sega also went ahead deeming 2024 ‘The Year of Shadow’ as well. What makes things even more fitting is the release for Sonic x Shadow Generations. At Summer Game Fest, it was announced the remastered title with an entirely new Shadow the Hedgehog segment is coming this October. The only other fan-requested aspect left to be announced is Chaos. Although it is reported a mobile title is underway, there has yet to be confirmation on the return of the beloved creatures. And while it remains to be a return to form of Chao Garden for more than two decades, the team is aware of the demand for some form of comeback. Speaking to Video Game Chronicle, studio head Takashi Iizuka is aware of the fan outcry. He does confirm there is no Chao Garden minigame in the coming Sonic x Shadow Generations. “Thank you for bringing this up, because it is something we want properly communicated so that there’s no confusion! There is no Chao Garden in Sonic X Shadow Generations. […] For those who played Sonic Generations already, there is additional gameplay through this feature [Chao Rescue]. But just to be clear, there’s no Chao Garden in this game.” Iizuka goes on to note that he is aware of the building demand for chao to return in some capacity in the future. “At some time, yes, because we hear the same thing. Everybody wants it!” Whether he is referencing ‘some time’ to being an entirely new project or the previously reported mobile game is left to conjecture. But that ‘everybody wants it’ does suggest he is eager to manifest it as much as fans are to play it. What has you most hopeful from Iizuka’s statement? Sonic X Shadow Generations launches October 25, 2024 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Source: Video Game Chronicle

Battlefield 2042 Introduces New Survival Mode Limited-Time Event In Dead Space Crossover This Week

At DICE, the state of Battlefield is still unanswered as to the direction it is actually heading. While it is confident a new game is underway, what this new game will be compared to Battlefield 2042 leaves a heavy pressure on fans’ chests. In one respect, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said the series is returning in an “entirely new way” contrasting prior titles. But at the same time, it let go its single player division earlier this winter. Additionally, the new title does enlist other developers to assist. With the final season for Battlefield 2042, Electronic Arts & DICE announce EA Motive is to participate in the making of the next Battlefield. It will be an interesting collaboration noting the developer did ship the Dead Space Remake. A partnership as such has not existed since Visceral Games – the original Dead Space team – developer & shipped Battlefield Hardline nearly a decade ago. In a new reveal recently, DICE announces a new event is coming to Battlefield 2042. What’s more is that this new update includes a limited-time game mode which splices its DNA with Dead Space featuring a survival mode with the necromorphs of the iconic series. More exciting is that this update will go live from July 9th to July 16th. “During this event, players will experience Outbreak. A new 4-player squad PvE experience where you will fight waves of Augmented Targets. Starting on the western end of Redacted, players fight through eight sectors while completing objectives until they call an elevator to exfiltrate out on the far-eastern end of the map,” the synopsis reveals. “Outbreak is a high-intensity survival mode that will test your skills with enemies getting tougher and tougher the farther you progress through the sectors. Your squad will need to find ways to overcome the Augmented Target’s onslaught and counteract overwhelming waves of enemies.  “Players will be tasked with navigating through Redacted and adapt through successive waves, as you progress you’ll find armory stations to purchase weapons, be warned; ensure you use your resources wisely, as they are limited. Remember: Your final objective is to reach extraction, Augmented Targets will respawn endlessly, so don’t rush into the unknown.” How excited are you for this new Outbreak mode? Battlefield 2042 is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Source: DICE

Apex Legends New Battle Pass Rework Now Splits Into Two And Requires Real Money

While Respawn Entertainment continues to be championed as a jack-of-all-trades studio with titles like Apex Legends & Star Wars Jedi IPs continue to glow in popularity, the state of the developer leaves fans concerned. This is due to the growing number of veteran leadership roles exiting from the Titanfall team. And now with live-service at Electronic Arts making a total of 73 percent of its gross earnings, there is a greater issue that could be underway. Recently, Apex Legends Season 21 – Upheaval although with the introduction of new Legend Alter and the long-awaited return for solos mode, the game has been struggling to shatter its prior record player count. What’s more is that Apex Legends is also on the horizon of tapping into new genres altogether according to CEO Andrew Wilson previously. Now amid the transition to the next season, Respawn Entertainment is reformatting its battle pass system for the battle royale. For Season 22, the one-time purchase is now being split into two passes and is required to only use real-time tender rather than purchasing with the earned Apex Coins from prior battle passes. Hey, Legends. You know that we’re all-in on creating the best experience. We’re frequently iterating on the game, chatting with players, and considering how we can action on community feedback—from casuals to pros. Today we’re announcing a brand new Battle Pass experience that will launch with Season 22. And this isn’t just a heads up, it’s also an inside look into how we’ve improved the value, reduced the time needed to unlock high-end items, and more. “We’ll get into it for those that love the details, but here’s the gist: shorter Battle Pass with one for each split, revamped rewards, and purchased with IRL currency with a new cost for Premium+. We’ve seen the numbers, and things need to be more approachable and realistic for our global player community. Each of these updated aspects allows us to make the Battle Pass more attainable and valuable for your time and money.” Continues, “Starting in Season 22, each split will now have its own 60 Level Battle Pass with the same cost for each. With the Battle Pass shortened, more of our community will be able to tackle the track and obtain the Reactive skin at the end. You’ll now earn double the Battle Pass rewards across the entire season by completing both Battle Passes (more on that below), and you can continue your progress past Level 60 up to Level 100 to upgrade your Battle Pass badges.” This is not the first instance a publisher has went ahead injecting more live-service elements to games already well off. Recently, Ubisoft went ahead with the R6 Membership with Rainbow Six Siege earlier this spring. You can read the full report by heading here. Review: Hot Blood

Developer – DEKLAZON Publisher – Eastasiasoft Limited Platforms –  PS4/5 , Nintendo Switch,PC (Reviewed) Review copy given by Publisher Hot Blood is a game that can only be described as a nostalgic romp for fans of 80s and 90s action movies, featuring a low-poly 3D style and physics-based brawling mechanics. In this game, you play as Roxy, a sassy and smack-talking heroine who brings a unique charm to the experience as you fight through hordes of zombies that have taken over the mall and city streets. Hot Blood is perfect for casual replay or hardcore speed runs, offering plenty of challenges without taking itself too seriously. The improvised weaponry and ragdoll physics inject variety and humor into the gameplay, making each encounter with the undead unpredictable and entertaining. Players can grab anything from a shopping cart to a baseball bat, turning everyday items into tools of destruction, which keeps the combat fresh and dynamic. The ragdoll physics adds an extra layer of hilarity as zombies fly and flop around in exaggerated ways. This is further complemented by the sassy dialogue from Roxy, whose quick-witted remarks and playful banter lighten the mood, ensuring that the game never takes itself too seriously. The best way to put it is, the combat in Hot Blood feels reminiscent of a budget version of Lollipop Chainsaw, capturing a similar blend of over-the-top action and humor, but with a more simplified and less polished execution. Both games feature a strong, sassy female protagonist battling hordes of zombies with a mix of melee attacks and improvised weaponry. However, while Lollipop Chainsaw boasts high production values and a more refined combat system, Hot Blood’s low-poly graphics and physics-based mechanics give it a more indie, rough-around-the-edges charm. However, while the game is entertaining, it has its drawbacks. The repetitive nature of the combat can become tedious over time, and the low-poly graphics, while charming, might not appeal to everyone. The storyline is pretty basic and doesn’t offer much depth. Additionally, the physics-based mechanics, while initially amusing, can sometimes feel clunky and detract from the overall experience. In conclusion, Hot Blood is a decent game for a bit of casual fun, especially if you enjoy the aesthetic and humor. But don’t expect it to hold your attention for long if you’re looking for something with more substance and polish.
