2025 has officially arrived which means we are going to get plenty of new games to enjoy on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Among the highly anticipated games to release this year, Grand Theft Auto VI is up there, but there is a lot of speculation if it will even be released this year. We are going to list the Top 5 Highly Anticipated Games to look forward to in 2025. #5 – DOOM: The Dark Ages DOOM: The Dark Ages from id Software and Bethesda Softworks was first announced in June 2024. It’s a single-player, action FPS prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. The epic cinematic origin story DOOM Slayer is set to release in 2025. A release date has not been revealed yet, but DOOM: The Dark Ages is planned to release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. #4 – Borderlands 4 Borderlands 4 from Gearbox Software and 2K Games is another game to look forward to in 2025. The mayhem-fueled looter shooter, jam-packed with billions of weapons, and outrageous enemies is going to be released on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 this year. A release date for Borderlands 4 has not been revealed yet. #3 – Metroid Prime 4: Beyond The wait for Metroid Prime 4 has been as bad as Grand Theft Auto VI, especially if you are a big fan of the series. In 2024, Nintendo finally gave the first look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond which is planned to release in 2025 on Nintendo Switch. It’s also speculated that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will come to the Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases this year. #2 – Monster Hunter Wilds Capcom starts off 2025 strong with Monster Hunter Wilds, the story of monsters and humans and their struggles to live in harmony in a world of duality. Monster Hunter Wilds will release on February 28, 2025, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. #1 – Grand Theft Auto VI There’s no question that Grand Theft Auto VI tops the list of highly anticipated games in 2025. GTA 6 follows Grand Theft Auto V which was released in 2013 and takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, based on Florida and its Miami-inspired Vice City. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have said the game is expected to release in Fall 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. So far we have only received one trailer for the new GTA.
Marvel Rivals Is Getting A Capture The Flag Mode, It’s Claimed
Marvel Rivals by NetEase Games has continued to receive leaks of its planned content down the road from characters, maps, and to new game modes. A recent leak suggests Deadpool, Captain Marvel, and a few other characters will be joining the game. A new leak from X0XLEAK on X (Twitter), Marvel Rivals will be receiving a Capture The Flag mode. This mode will be named Infinity Crisis which will be played on exclusively on the Hydra Map according to how the leaker worded it. Items that are possibly related to the Capture The Flag mode include Dragon Eggs, Kraken, and Tentacles. Season 1 of Marvel Rivals is expected to start this month around January 10th.
Microsoft Denied A Master Chief & Doom Slayer Crossover Episode For Secret Level
Secret Level, the animated anthology series created by Tim Miller hosted exclusively on Amazon Prime Video has already had numerous episodes featuring games like Concord, Mega Man, The Outer Worlds, and more. In a recent interview with Collider, Tim Miller and Dave Wilson mentioned they pitched a Master Chief and Doom Slayer crossover episode for Secret Level. The Secret Level Creator and Director said they wanted to make a Master Chief and Doom Slayer crossover episode, but Microsoft turned down the pitch. “I spent a whole weekend crafting this impassioned letter of my childhood. And it’s exactly what Tim said; they were like, “Nah.” In the interview, they also mentioned a pitch for Half-Life which was also denied at no surprise. Secret Level currently has 15 Episodes in its first season which has been well received so far. A second season for Secret Level has already been approved at Amazon.
