Nintendo Switch has sold 150 Million units

It’s that time of year again when all major companies hold their quarterly earnings calls. Today, Nintendo released their latest results as of December 31, 2024. They revealed total software sales including 5 million more units sold for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Party Jamboree debuting with over 6 million units sold. When it comes to hardware sales, the Switch has grown closer to taking down the PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo DS. The Nintendo Switch has now sold over 150 Million units as of the end of 2024.  Console sales are still rising for the Switch although we are expecting to have the Nintendo Switch 2 released in 2025.  Sales for the Switch are expected to slow down with Nintendo getting ready for its successor. However, they still plan to release games on the original Switch. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is still planned to release this year on the console.  Do you think the Switch will reach 160 Million units?

The Next Battlefield Game Will Release Before April 2026 Says EA

battlefield 2026

Electronic Arts held its third-quarter earnings call today revealing new information on its plans for the near future. On Monday, EA announced Battlefield Studios and an all-new Battlefield Labs program that will allow the community to test new features. The publisher has now given us an idea of when the next Battlefield game will be released.  The next Battlefield game is expected to launch before April 1, 2026. The fiscal year 2026 begins April 1, 2025, and EA said “fiscal year 2026 release”. We don’t know too much about what Battlefield 6 will look like aside from the 10 seconds of early gameplay teased yesterday. The new Battlefield Studios is led by Vince Zampella and combines multiple studios – Ripple Effect, EA Motive, DICE, and Criterion Games. “I’ve been playing Battlefield long before I joined the team. This game has so much potential. To find that potential, with us being pre-alpha, now is the time to test the experiences our teams have been building for our upcoming launch,” said Vince Zampella, EA Studios group general manager.  For this Battlefield game, Motive will be developing the multiplayer maps as well as the single-player mission content, DICE will be working on its multiplayer, Criterion is focused on helping single-player, and Ripple Effect is working on a new experience for the franchise. It has been rumored that the next Battlefield title is going to have a free-to-play Battle Royale mode. EA has not made this official yet but it seems likely. This is what the Ripple Effect could be developing.  Source: VGC

Gunnar Glasses: Diablo IV, Sanctuary Editon Review

diablo IV Gunnar glasses

Product provided by the manufacturer Price – $249.99 USD Purchase Here From working each day at my PC for my full-time job, writing my reviews here at Rectify Gaming, and of course, putting in a massive amount of hours gaming, my eyes are ready to explode at the end of the day. A few years ago I happened upon a pair of Gunnar Glasses at my local BestBuy and decided to give them a shot. I was very satisfied with the purchase as those hours felt like nothing now behind that lens. I don’t wear prescription glasses, so at first getting used to wearing glasses while working and gaming was a bit strange, to be honest, but these glasses have been such a lifesaver for my eyes. I would recommend that anyone who spends a lengthy amount of time behind a screen really invest in something to help reduce the strain. Of course, there are many brands out there not to mention so many styles to choose from and luckily Gunnar has such a wide variety I am sure that someone will find a pair that suits them for their everyday needs. When I got word Gunnar wanted to send me a few pairs of their new glasses I jumped at the opportunity to get a refresher on my current pair which has certainly seen better days. I wasn’t exactly sure what styles I would be sent to review but I wanted to show you one pair in particular that I recently received which I absolutely love. The pair of glasses that I now use almost exclusively are the Diablo IV, Sanctuary Edition. Anyone who knows me knows I love Diablo. I grew up spending my days doing endless Meph runs in Diablo 2 on dial-up internet and couldn’t get enough, so Diablo certainly has a special place in my heart so of course I had to review this pair first. Let me start off by saying, that in my opinion, these glasses are probably the most covertly branded gaming eyewear. The frames are simple, nothing crazy or over the top, the lenses are thin but do a wonderful job at blocking out the harsh light from the monitor. People honestly have no idea that they are based around Diablo so wearing them on work calls doesn’t cause any issues for me either. The front section of the frame is a dark blood-red color, with two silver accent pieces much like you would find on a classic pair of Ray-Ban’s. The frame’s temples (which run over the ear and across your temples) are a solid black with a simple silver Diablo IV emblem. Nothing else signifies that these are gaming-related glasses outside of the Gunnar logo on the left eye lens at the top. They are very sleek, well-designed, light on your face, and comfortable allowing for long hours of use without causing irritation. I absolutely love the colors Black and Red so these are basically the perfect pair of glasses for my style and preference. Outside of the glasses, this particular set came with a Diablo IV box to hold the glasses in. Upon opening the box, you can see the inside is lined with a soft felt that is pure black with the word “Hell Welcomes All” inside in the same blood red as the glasses themselves. Inside the box, the glasses come wrapped in a soft bag that has the Diablo IV logo on the back that matches the temples of the glasses logo, and on the front, there is a red and black Lilith image. Lastly, the glasses also come with a Diablo IV branded microfiber cloth that you can use to clean your glasses from smudges. This cloth also features Lilith and the Diablo IV logo on the back. When you close the box there is a slight magnetic clasp built in to keep everything secure if you need to pack them away in something a bit more sturdy. The box itself is Diablo branded with a slight image of the gates of Hell wrapped around the box. Needless to say, this is a complete package. Please see the rest of the images below to see all the details with more clarity. Overall, like I said, these have now become my daily glasses for work and gaming. I highly recommend that you take a look at the Gunnar website as there are so many awesome designs to choose from such as Marvel, Call of Duty, Fallout, Assassin’s Creed, and Overwatch just to name a few! If you want to stay away from purely gaming-themed glasses, you can of course go with the more standard-style frames which there are plenty. For someone who might want to show their passion for a game but not be so overbearing that they look ridiculous, there are options there for you. Lastly, please protect your eyes. These glasses and others like them are scientifically proven to help you in several aspects of life so while the price might be a little high, I think that if you are stuck to your monitor, phone, or TV for hours on end it certainly doesn’t hurt to have a pair of glasses for when you start feeling that strain. More reviews for different styles are on the way, so keep on the lookout for those as well because there certainly are some interesting pieces that we were sent!

Age Of Mythology: Retold To Welcome New DLC ‘Immortal Pillars’ Alongside PlayStation 5 Version This March

The current head space at Microsoft is for more of its titles to ship on platforms outside of its own. And 2025 is only enforcing this philosophy moving forward. Already, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle alongside Doom: The Dark Ages were already confirmed for this previously. Recently, developer Playground Games has announced Forza Horizon 5 is coming later this spring to PlayStation 5 too. And, it certainly will not end there. In one interview with Destin Legarie, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has expressed that there is no definitive line that withholds an Xbox IP to be on other consoles. “there’s no reason for me to put a ring fence around any game and say, ‘this game will not go to a place’; […] What we find is we’re able to drive a better business that allows us to invest in a great game lineup like you saw and that’s our strategy.” Now this week, developer World’s Edge announced that Age of Mythology: Retold is the next of this plan to ship its title on PlayStation 5. Simultaneously, new DLC ‘Infinite Pillars’ will also release upon the launch of the new console port. You can watch the new trailer in the video below: “Age of Mythology: Retold will expand into new myths, new cultures, and welcome new players alongside the Immortal Pillars expansion release. We will welcome PlayStation 5 players to adventure with Arkantos, choose their pantheon, and fight for divine blessings with all the same content available in the Xbox and PC versions. PlayStation 5 players will also be able to purchase Immortal Pillars, and expand their Age of Mythology: Retold experience with the all-new Chinese pantheon. ” Our review for Age of Mythology: Retold scored the release a 9/10. “Age of Mythology: Retold stands as the ultimate way to experience a beloved classic, combining the timeless appeal of the original game with a host of modern enhancements. […] Whether you’re a veteran who fondly remembers commanding mythical armies or a newcomer eager to explore its mythological realms, Age of Mythology: Retold offers a compelling and immersive RTS experience.” You can read the full review by heading here. New Focus On Battlefield Puts Need For Speed Franchise On Ice, EA Confirms

The Need for Speed franchise now three decades in remains a notable IP under Electronic Arts. Although the series has continued to release new entries, the development structure has for sure been shifted. In 2020, it was confirmed that Criterion Games is to retake its helm for the series after the last few titles from Ghost Games. However, the workflow of other franchises did overshadow Need for Speed. In one report, it was revealed that 2022’s Need for Speed Unbound was delayed due to Criterion Games assisting in Battlefield 2042 at the time. And although the developer did eventually ship the game alongside DICE & Ripple Effect, updates on the next entry does remain tame for Need for Speed. According to one statement, CEO Andrew Wilson did regard the IP as a “meaningful part of our future” as per an earnings call. This week, Electronic Arts shared an update on Battlefield revealing the formation of Battlefield Studios to show the emphasis the IP needs to return to its glory. Among the new workforce behind the series, Criterion Games stands alongside DICE, Ripple Effect, and EA Motive. Following the announcement, it was confirmed that Need for Speed will remain on ice while work is focused towards Battlefield. “The Need for Speed team at Criterion are joining their colleagues working on Battlefield. As a company, it was important to us to take the last year to listen to our Need for Speed community and use their feedback to create content for Unbound,” Battlefield general manager Vince Zampella said to Eurogamer. “With an increased understanding of what our players want in a Need for Speed experience, we plan to bring the franchise back in new and interesting ways.” Zampella is currently overseeing multiple Electronic Arts franchises to find new footing. Previously, it was revealed that Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends is searching to expand beyond its battle royale DNA as the live-service now stretches over five years-old. One of the strong suits that Xbox has offered is providing a platform for developers. Across the spectrum of AAA big budget IPs to small scale indie studios, there is room from Microsoft to include a diverse listing of titles. In 2024 specifically, we saw this certainly. At the start of the year, its new ‘Indie Selects’ initiative offers billboard access to showcase up and coming titles. Additionally in collaboration with IGN, ID@Xbox held its Digital Showcase that spring to further feature other titles coming from small teams. The presentation also headlines the titles arriving to Xbox Game Pass too. This past fall, the Xbox firm also held its ‘Xbox Partner Preview’ which, again, gave developers some screen time on anticipated titles coming well into 2025. Now this week, IGN & ID@Xbox reveal a new ID@Xbox Showcase is coming later this February. The list of featured developers includes 11 Bit, BigFan, Critical Reflex, Daedalic, Game Source Entertainment, No More Robots, Panic, Playstack, Raw Fury, Thunder Lotus, Cult Games, Team17, Curve, Akapura, and Don’t Nod. “ID@Xbox is kicking off IGN Fan Fest this year with an exciting new showcase on February 24.
