As Apex Legends continues to grow in age, the number of content further multiplies in the number of additions being administered by Respawn Entertainment. In anticipation for the inevitable Season 9, the developer elaborated that the coming update will face one of the largest increments of Titanfall content to date, game director Chad Grenier stated.

“Next season, Season 9, you’re actually going to see a ton of Titanfall coming back into the game one way or another,” he teases. However, the announcement we received exceeded expectations more than what was anticipated. With the unveiling of Valk, daughter of Apex Champion Viper, she features a new jetpack and missile salvo attack from the brief images presented. But, there is more to be elaborated on the coming Arena mode that was previously datamined from the game.

In the newest gameplay trailer for Season 9 ‘Legacy’, Respawn Entertainment goes head first into the coming update with a new permaneant, 3v3 matchmaking mode. You can watch the full trailer below:

“Arenas is a new permanent game mode coming to Apex Legends as part of the upcoming Legacy update. It condenses the chaos of 20-squad Battle Royale matches down into more focused 3v3 combat,” the blog post shares. “You’ll face off against the enemy without any other squads coming to crash the party—allowing you to focus on surviving and winning the fight. You’ll compete over multiple rounds, striving to be the last squad standing each time.”

While the synapse does elaborate with a blanket definition for Arenas, there is more than what is said on the surface. For one, the game features an in-game economy system with the use of crafting materials. At the start of each game, players will be given 750 crafting material to choose their loadout. But unlike other games that feature the mechanic, players can only upgrade their weapons and utility – not buy new firearms.

However, there is the oh so common care package that will fall from the sky and depending on how late the round is will reward players with more rare weaponry to choose from. Additionally, there are two maps to play: Party Crasher & Phase Runner. In extension, there are segments from King’s Canyon, World’s Edge, and Olympus that will rotate in as well biweekly, Respawn Entertainment confirms.

Also, the team finally presented a glimpse of Valk in action with her full armada of utilities. Newly featured is what appears to be her tactical which transform her into a moving Jump Tower as the trio of Legends propel into the sky when hooked together. The Bocek Bow also gets some screen time featuring two different arrow heads to choose from: Shatter Caps and Deadeye’s Tempo.
