8Bitdo Reveals Partnered Project xCloud Controller Arriving Later This Fall

While it is for certain that Microsoft is preparing to ship the upcoming cloud-based, video game  streaming service Project xCloud sometime later on in 2020, Microsoft is already getting ahead of the release for the initiative with partnerships creating specified accessories for players planning to utilize their smart phones for Xbox gaming. In collaboration with 8Bitdo, the manufacturer reveals the SN30 Pro Controller.

The new gamepad is specified for Project xCloud as the controller is a Bluetooth compatible with Android smart phones and tablets supported for the upcoming service. Working with Microsoft, the company is able to confidently say that the SN30 is a dedicated controller for Project xCloud, The Verge reports.

Even more, 8Bitdo will offer additional software that will allow players to strategically map their button prompts to their preference among other feature unique to the controller. “Ultimate software gives you elite control over every piece of your controller: customize button mapping, adjust stick & trigger sensitivity. Create controller profiles and switch between them at any time.”

Additionally, the SN30 will also include an 8Bitdo-branded Gaming Clip which connects to the gamepad and prop the screen for effective viewing of the screen without having to worry about placing your smart phone on a static platform. The page also features a stand for tablets as well, but surfing the website does not spare if that accessory is available for purchase.

The controller is told to offer an 18-hour playtime with 1 – 2 hours charge. Unlike the current Xbox One gamepad, the SN30 will offer USB-C compatibility which is always a good sign for coming products. You can find the device up for pre-order on Amazon priced at $44.99. The product listed for late September is reported to not correlate with the release of Project xCloud.

Interesting enough, 8Bitdo did not specify if the SN30 controller will be offering compatible support for Apple devices as well. While the service is predominantly Android-based, support for Apple products just began February this year. You can read the full announcement by heading here.
