On September 6, 2024, Team Asobi and Sony Interactive Entertainment released Astro Bot on PlayStation 5 along with a special edition DualSense controller. This limited edition controller is inspired by Astro Bot and looks to be by far the best-looking controller the PS5 has seen since 2020.

It comes with a playful pair of eyes on the Touch Pad, and Astro’s signature blue accents on the handles and buttons. The blue handles have a different feeling than any other DualSense controller that I’ve used providing a truly unique experience when playing. There is an engraving around this DualSense controller that gives it that robot feeling. 

The Astro Bot DualSense Controller is not just a new coat of paint and that is something we expect when there are these special edition controllers. The back of the controller is nothing to brag about besides the Astro Bot icon. Everything that makes this controller so valuable is right in the front.

The Astro Bot DualSense Controller is $79.99 which is more than your average controller. You can try to purchase one from PlayStation Direct, but it might be too late at this point. 

I have been waiting for Sony to recognize the design opportunities it has with its controllers as the Touch Pad opens the door for so many possibilities. I can’t wait to see what else PlayStation has coming with its limited edition controllers.
