For many players – specifically on PlayStation 4 and PC – you might be already indulging in the largest and one of the most prolific releases this year: Mediatonic’s Fall Guys. With the game being handed out to PlayStation Plus subscribers for this month, the title quickly swelled in popularity and migrated anticipation for the PC version as well.
With the power of word and mouth, this swiftly lead to a new feat on PC as Fall Guys was reported to sell over two million copies on Steam within its first month of release. Howbeit, despite the amount of attention the game has accumulated in such a short amount of time, it conjures the idea as for how much else could be illustrated from releases on other platforms. That being said, anticipated players are patiently waiting on Switch and Xbox for a port.
But while the respected versions are suspected to be arriving sometime next year (due to a marketing deal with Sony), the discussion continues forward for mobile. According to Chinese publisher Bilibili, the game is arriving to smart phones in the region following the firm’s acquisition to properly distribute the game. The announcement was transcribed by Nike Partners’ David Ahmad on Twitter:
Howbeit, the announcement does surprise many followers even the team responsible for Fall Guys. In that, the firm a week prior disclosed that any discussions of a potential mobile version is a “scam” and not to be trusted as legitimate. But while Mediatonic is not in jurisdiction of the coming mobile port, it is more real than most of the lingering rumors we tend to see throughout the industry.
Perhaps the statement can be interpreted to be intended towards the western version for mobile ports: then yes, they are scams. But as for now, Fall Guys is only hitting smart phones in mainland China for the time being. A similar situation can be seen for Apex Legends as Electronic Arts confirmed the game will hit Chinese markets for mobile platforms before arriving to the western hemisphere. Would you pick up Fall Guys if it hit mobile phone?
