Today, seemingly out of nowhere, Reggie has announced his retirement as Nintendo of America president. He will be stepping down to spend more time with his family and friends according to a video he posted on Twitter.

Reggie has been a dominant force in the gaming scene ever since his famous 2004 E3 debut. He has always been candid, embraced his meme’s and really changed how Nintendo was viewed across the gaming scene.
His opening lines during that conference are legendary. “My name is Reggie. I’m about kickin’ ass. I’m about takin’ names. And we’re about making games.”
He will be truly missed during the annual Nintendo Directs and E3 presentations.
Stepping up to take his place is Doug Bowser. Doug joined Nintendo in 2015 and has had a growing presence in the company. Starting in April, he will assume the mantle as Nintendo of America president and now their headquarters will truly become Bowsers Castle.
