After A Two Year Hiatus, Indie Megabooth Is Officially Returning

While many of the things that were temporarily taken away from the video game industry was eventually returned following the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, some things were never the same. For one, the market for in-person shows were never the same as E3 looks to be in its demise. Even Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley explains the event was digging its own grave as the world continued to evolve.

Additionally, that is not all that was sewed into the same fabric from the new decade pandemic. In that, Indie Megabooth was also rendered immobile until further notice from the global event. In April 2020, the organization announced it will be going into hibernation as the world begins to close down to contain further spread of the ailment then.

Well, at Day of the Devs on Thursday, founder Kelly Wallick announced that Indie Megabooth is to make its return to the living after almost two years since the initial announcement for its slumber.

If you’re reading this then you already know….we’re back! During the pandemic, we reimagined how Indie Megabooth could better support the indie game community and we can’t wait to get things started (again) with 2.0. […] If you’re a dev, you’ll also know us from our industry work, GDC showcases, BitSummit presence and various global events and outreach – along with our robust grant and scholarship programs.

“If you’re a fan of indie games, you may have seen Indie MEGABOOTH at PAX West and East over the last decade – bringing together a curated selection of the best up-and-coming indie titles. Games like Crypt of the Necrodancer, Tunic, Disco Elysium, Spiritfarer, Celeste, Mini Metro, Astroneer, The Stanley Parable, and Papers, Please have all been a part of the Megabooth community.”

The statement continues: “If you’ve never heard of any of this – well – think of us as a stepping stone into the industry and a place for folks who love indie games to connect with teams, discover something new, and feel welcome into a broad community of creative and diverse ideas and experiences. We’re back to help share more games with everyone! More weird games made by rad people!”
